New Clone Wars Droidfactory Astromechs Coming Soon?

clonewars_astromechsToday while exploring the seedy underbelly of the internet, I came across three as-of-yet to be announced astromech figures that look to be part of a Clone Wars themed Droidfactory set for Disney Parks (note the missing wires on the feet). It is unclear if these will be offered together or individually, or if there is possibly a fourth droid to join them. Click on through for a closer look at R5-S9, R5-P8 and R5-U8/R5-013.

Theory: Star Wars Day Astromech Coming Soon?

SWD_mysteryastromech

About a month ago, an unnamed mystery build-a-droid astromech surfaced online. Various theories exist as to the potential release of this figure, but with the recent ramp up of the Star Wars Day/May Fourth promotions, I theorize that this will be a Disneyland Park Commemorative Figure. A recent blog post states that special “commemorative merchandise” will be available that day, and based on the black/yellow/white colors of the logo, the corresponding colors of the droid and the precedent for Disney releasing Limited Edition astromechs, this seems to fit that theory quite well.

Episode #70: Leaks and Sneak Peeks

realmrecap_news

The shroud of “The Disney Side” is slowly, but surely, being lifted on the plans for Force Friday. This week, Flyguy and I discuss some of the images, product lists and unwitting retail employees leaking out info ahead of September’s big reveal. Speaking of big, Hot Toys revealed the ultimate 1:6 item – the Millennium Falcon display recently in Hong Kong. It not only went viral in the collecting community, but caught worldwide attention on media outlets as well. Is something like this actually viable in today’s market? We wrap things up with a bit of comic news as well as our weekly breakdown of new purchases and acquisitions and more on Episode #70 of The Realm Recap!

Also, if you prefer an audio-only version, a downloadable MP3 is available as well.
