Bounty Hunting Today: Stamps!
November 26, 2003 | 10:03 PM EST | Keri

Stamps have been collected for most of the 20th century, by people of all ages who dreamed about other countries in the world they would like to visit, or they just liked the artowrk on the tiny little pieces of paper. Some stamps are exceedingly rare and expensive, due to many factors such as age, rarity, etc. while some stamps are made to collect and never use, like the Star Wars stamps featured in today’s auction.

Made by H.E. Harris after A New Hope was released in 1977, the Stamp Collecting Kit included an album, 24 Star Wars stamps, space stamps, hinges to keep the stamps in place and a magnifying glass. The set provided stamps with characters from the film and the booklet illustrated space exploration. Extra Star Wars stamp envelopes could also be bought.

These albums were mass produced and purchased, therefore it is very easy to find sealed stamp kits and stamp envelopes in unused mint condition for very reasonable prices. The auctions below will get you started with your very own vintage Star Wars stamps!

Are You A Galaxy Gamer?
November 26, 2003 | 8:33 PM EST | Mark

Over at IGN.com you can check out the new article about Lucas Arts adding Vehicles…

Although LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment have done a great job of capturing the Star Wars license in their recent MMO, Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, having a Star Wars game without any landspeeders or speeder bikes is kind of like a Mother Goose game without any tuffets.

All that’s going to change this December when player-driven vehicles are added to the game. Accordingly, we hit up LucasArts’ producer Haden Blackman for some more information on the vehicles. He provided a nice overview of the vehicles that will be added and, nice guy that he is, also provided us with a snazzy new video clip of the vehicles in action.

Bounty Hunting Today: Varsity Jacket
November 25, 2003 | 5:35 PM EST | Keri

If you are looking for a cool as well as fashionable way to keep warm in the upcoming winter months, there is a Star Wars jacket made just for you!

There have been only a handful of liscened Star Wars themed jackets available throughout the years since 1977, with most of those in child’s sizes that sadly most of us cannot wear today ( even though the 70s designs rock & roll all nite long!!! )
Anyway, there are a few modern designs in adult sizes with styles reflecting vintage designs that are still popular and look good today.
This modern varsity jacket featured today is made of a combination of wool and leather, with a nice large embriodered logo and X-Wing on the back, as well as a small Rebel symbol on the front chest.
Click on through below to look cool but keep warm while supporting the Rebels!

New Carded Images!
November 25, 2003 | 12:31 PM EST | Keri

Boba_jp was kind enough to send in these brand new carded images of Luke Jedi Knight, R1-G4, and R2-D2 with drink tray from Jabba’s Sail Barge. Actually, the Luke Jedi looks pretty cool, with cloth robe and the droids look fantastic, especially the brand new R1.

Bounty Hunting Today: Test Shot Bib Fortuna
November 24, 2003 | 9:57 PM EST | Keri

Just about everyone is aware of the vintage vinyl cape/cloth cape Jawa vintage figure variation, and likewise many collectors are aware of the red caped Bib Fortuna. Today’s featured auction is something more unusual and less seen, a black caped Bib Fortuna test shot figure.

Kenner, like any other toy company when developing a toy went through a series of test shots for one character design. Everything from plastic coloring to fabric color was tested, and even got so far as to be pictured on cardbacks and in catalogs. While many test shots were either lost or destroyed, the ones that remain today are eagerly bought by collectors as interesting additions in the development of the Star Wars line of toys.

Bounty Hunting Today: Arcade Games!
November 24, 2003 | 12:09 AM EST | Keri

Before the advent of home video game consoles, like the popular hit Atari 2600, there were the beautiful arcades I dearly loved as a child. In those arcades were all the classic games that can never be replicated, unless one is fortunate enough to own their own arcade video game at home!

Made by Atari in 1982, Star Wars was released as both a stand-up version and in a sit down cockpit style video game. The gameplay was in the vector style and featured vocals from Luke, Obi-Wan, Vader and R2. The game was a blast and is still the greatest to play to this day (in my opinion)!

Here are 2 rare cockpit versions of these beloved arcade classics, both Star Wars and the very hard to find Empire Strikes Back. Though the pictures provided in the auctions are dark, they can easily be lightened in any photo editing software.

Interesting Auctions
November 23, 2003 | 11:50 PM EST | Keri

Although not Ebay related auctions, YakReader Tom sends in this interesting info fromautographs.com

I thought I would let you know that actress Debbie Reynolds (Carrie Fisher’s mother) is auctioning off a large number of pieces from her collection through autographs.com and among the offerings are several Star Wars related auctions. There are several auctions for Star Wars posters that Carrie will sign, an auction to receive a phone call from Carrie, and several auctions to attend screenings of The Empire Strikes Back with Carrie Fisher. The starting bids for everything is rather reasonable and the proceeds go to Debbie Reynolds’ museum. There are many other great classic movie costumes and props for auction too.

You can bid to see ESB with Leia herself or even talk to the Princess on the telephone…sounds pretty cool to me! Click the link above to see the many lots of items up for grabs.

Bounty Hunting Today: Kenner Laser Rifle Display
November 21, 2003 | 5:25 PM EST | Keri

While not among the most inexpensive things to collect, original vintage Kenner displays certainly are some of the best looking and coolest items to own in a collection.

Today’s feature is for a 1978 Kenner Laser Rifle display header card, which is in virtually mint condition. Store displays were more often that not thrown away after use, or were continued to be used well after they were torn up by eager little kids wanting to play with the toys displayed. Kenner displays are coveted by many collectors and competition can be fierce when searching for them, as they are not offered in great regularity.

Don’t let the price scare you away, just because you may not be able to afford a certain item, its always nice (in my opinion) to see it for educational purposes. It can give you a point of reference if you happen to run across the item at a show or for sale on a website. Although the word rare is overused heavily on Ebay, some items deserve the description, especially in regards to condition in this case. Click on through to the link below to enjoy this great vintage find today!

Last Chance for Mace Windu Lightsaber
November 21, 2003 | 4:30 PM EST | Mark B

As a followup to Mark’s posting a couple days ago about the great deals on Dooku and Vader’s lightsabers over at Amazon, be sure to check out Master Replicas as well, they have placed 3 lightsabers on “Last Call”, which means they have less than 10% of them left. In the case of the Mace Windu (which is by far the coolest looking lightsaber in the Star Wars universe), that is less than 175 of them left. The Darth Vader (ESB) and Luke Skywalker (ANH) sabers are also included in “Last Call”. All of the above mentioned sabers include the lucite display cases. The Vader and Skywalker are both also on sale for $199.96 each. And if you need my address to send me my Christmas present, simply email me HERE.

Fossil Stormtrooper Watch
November 21, 2003 | 3:36 PM EST | Mark B

I have been watching Fossil’s website waiting for the new Stormtrooper watch that was supposed to be coming out for the holidays, but have been disappointed that it had not been released. Well, I happened to run across the
Fossil Stormtrooper Watch today while searching Google. If you want a really cool timepiece, jump on this one today! I have the Boba Fett watch that has almost the exact same band to it, and I have to say that it is the most comfortable, best looking watch I own (and I actually have all of the Fossil Star Wars watches that have been made!)

UPDATE: The link above should have taken you directly to the Stormtrooper watch, but does not so –

Bounty Hunting Today: Hallmark Ornaments
November 20, 2003 | 10:57 PM EST | Keri

If you are already getting into the holiday spirit and have started to think about trimming the Christmas tree in a Star Wars theme, Hallmark ornaments are just the ticket for you!

Hallmark started producing Star Wars ornaments in 1997, beginning with small miniature vehicles as well as a numbered set of classic characters. The line has since expanded to include ornaments that have sound effects as well as light and motion. There are different classic characters and vehicles still being made each year, in addition to those from Episode I and II.

Hallmark ornaments are very collectible, not only by Star Wars fans but by Hallmark collectors themselves. Each design produced in a specific year is not repeated, and is only available for a short amount of time. These ornaments not only look great on a tree, but make for an interesting collection in themselves. The auctions featured today are large lots of ornaments to get your collection started in a big way!

Lot of 6 Ornaments in boxes

OT DVD News
November 20, 2003 | 9:31 PM EST | Bill

The Droids over at Artoosnews found a very interesting bit of news on The Digital Bitsabout next years DVD release of the original trilogy. If true, simply put the “Special Editions” are NOT the FINAL editions. Check it out here.

More Enhancements & Changes to the Original Trilogy?
November 20, 2003 | 9:28 PM EST | Keri

Courtesy of theforce.net, comes this report on added footage and more digital enhancements to the Original Trilogy coming soon to DVD from The Digital Bits rumor mill.

We’ve heard from a number of interesting (and we believe reliable) inside sources that Lucasfilm is currently making major new changes to the original Star Wars films – the kind of changes he began a few years ago with the theatrical “Special Edition” releases. These changes include new special effects, revised and updated shots and scenes, and new footage shot with actors Hayden Christensen (Anakin) and Ian McDiarmid (the Emperor) that would flesh out moments with their characters in the original films. For example, an aged and scarred Hayden now appears as Anakin at the end of Return of the Jedi when Luke removes Vader’s helmet. Among the other changes reportedly being made are the restoration of the original “Han shoots first” moment from Star Wars and a revamped lightsaber fight between Obi-Wan and Vader.

We did already hear reports of the Obi-Wan/Vader lightsaber duel being digitally cleaned up from those who were saw the film at the LA showing a few months back, so it seems these rumors may have some credibilty to them. Perhaps Mr. Lucas has seen the error of his ways and will reinstate the Han shoots first moment, and keep the integrity of the film in place while adding and enhancing, making the entire 6 films one continuous story.

You can read more on this story here at The Digital Bits site.

Clone Wars Ep. 1 -10 Marathon Reminder Update
November 20, 2003 | 11:52 AM EST | Keri

If you have missed any episodes of the most excellent Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network, watch Friday, November 21 to see all ten episodes beginning at 7:30 p.m. (e/p)!

UPDATE: The 10 episodes will not be shown back to back. They
are airing Ep. 1 – 5 at 7:30pm and Ep. 6 – 10 at
9:30pm (e/p) with 2 short breaks in each half. Thanks to YakReader Rod for the Update!

We just have to wait until the spring to see the remaining 10 episodes, but with such high quality storytelling told in a very compressed time of 3 minutes, these episodes are definetly worth the wait! Now, if only Episode III will be half as good as the micro series…then we have something to really look forward to!

Star Destroyer Assortment?
November 20, 2003 | 11:45 AM EST | Keri

YakReader Derek points out that in the last paragraph after the preview of the new article on Dodonna, Gold Leader, Tie Pilot, and
Antilles it says:

“Come back soon for previews of a Star Destroyer assortment including
Admiral Ozzel, Dengar and Bossk.”

Perhaps these are more new figures slated for us to feast upon very soon…I would venture to guess that Dengar and Bossk are newly resculpted, but at least Ozzel is a character we have yet to see.

Obi Wan v. Durge Round II
November 19, 2003 | 11:28 PM EST | Bill

The Official Site’s Hyperspace section now has Chapter 9 up for viewing. If you thought the fight between Obi Wan and Durge was good in Chapter 8, well, round 2 is twice as good.

LEGO 2004
November 19, 2003 | 9:44 PM EST | Mark

LEGO set 4500: Although this is a remake, this is definately worth the $19.99.
The set includes one Snowspeeder, one Laser Canon, and three figures. The snowspeeder is modeled in white this time, compared to the original gray. Also included on this model is the tow rope. The wings also have more definition.

LEGO set 4501: This set is not what I expected. First we have the remake of the landspeeder. While this is a very nice remake, I would guess if sold alone it would be a $10 set. Next is the Cantina, in a word NEAT! Nice setting, table and side bar, with an entrance door. Without the Dewback, I would venture by the pieces, probably a $7 set, add the Dewback, make it $10. The set does include five figures: Luke, Sandtrooper, Greedo, Ben, and Han Solo. I do not agree with the $30 price tag, LEGO overpriced this set.

Bounty Hunting Today: Star Wars 10 Years Items
November 18, 2003 | 5:16 PM EST | Keri

In 1987, to commemerate the 10 year anniversary of A New Hope, a select few items were produced bearing a unique logo decalring the First Ten Years of Star Wars.

At that time, collecting Star Wars toys and other items was not the hobby it is today, with many rare items up for grabs at prices we all wish and dream about now. However, fans continued to collect what was available, no matter how small that selection seemed to be. Among the “new” items were 10 year hats, t-shirts, mugs, pennants, patches and notepads.

Today, the 10 Year items are becoming increasingly hard to find, and thus more expensive. Items can still be found at decent prices, but with more anniversaries of the film to come, bargains may be few and far between in years ahead. The auctions below feature some of the most memorable and interesting merchandise, including a really cool Vader Felt Pennant that is quite hard to find.

1st Ten Years Logo Patch

1st 10 Years Black & Gold Mug

Bounty Hunting Today: Worldwide Stickers
November 17, 2003 | 4:54 PM EST | Keri

Collecting Stickers was at its absolute height of popularity in the 80s, when stores had nothing but rolls upon rolls of stickers in absoultely every shape, size, color, smell, glitter and gel.

Star Wars stickers are still being made today in likenesses of our favorite characters and vehicles in holographic, transparent and glitter forms. Today I have chosen to spotlight stickers that were sold worldwide, namely 2 auctions including modern Panini transparent stickers from Italy and vintage Topps stickers from the UK. Of course, this is only a tiny sampling of the variety and scope of stickers from around the world, as virtually every country sold some sort of sticker, or had a promo tie-in for a sticker.

Click on the links below to start your Star Wars sticker search!

The Tarkin bust which was originally scheduled for release the second week of November has now been moved to December 31st. This shouldn’t come as too big of surprise given Gentle Giant’s release history, but a disappointment nonetheless for those like me who were excited to get this newest mini-bust.

Holiday Yoda Arrives!
November 16, 2003 | 7:51 PM EST | Steve

Delivered by UPS on Friday, the second Star Wars Holiday Edition features Yoda as Santa. The figure was well-packed and arrived in excellent condition. The edges of the card back were flat (no bends) and the bubble was perfect, no dents.

The reproduction card is inserted between two pieces of the backer card, and is easily removed (if you wish to do so) by slitting the tape on either side.

I was surprised by the detail the figure holds to the original art, right down to the ball and block in the snow and the toys in Yoda’s sack.

An excellent addition to any Star Wars collection and a great companion piece to last year’s edition with C-3PO and R2-D2.

Bounty Hunting Today: Paper Dolls!
November 15, 2003 | 6:49 PM EST | Keri

Continuing on yesterday’s theme of dolls, today’s edition of Bounty Hunting brings you Star Wars Amidala Paper Dolls!

Paper dolls have been enjoyed by children throughout the centuries, something that could easily be bought or even home made. In the 1930s – 1950s paper dolls resembling movie stars, and the golden epics they starred in were a staple of movie tie-in liscening. That liscening continues on to this day with the Star Wars Amidala paper dolls that were produced for Episode I and Episode II. These books are very inexpensive and provide something different for the collector looking for anything Star Wars.

Bounty Hunting Today: Dolls!
November 14, 2003 | 5:15 PM EST | Keri

You read right, today’s focus will be on dolls! Although the word “doll” usually conjures images of a baby doll wetting itself, or Barbies, there are dolls in the Star Wars Universe of liscened products that are not revolting at all.

Of course there are the Kenner/Hasbro 12″ figures, which some people call dolls (i know i do), but since they are mainly targeted at boys, they are large action figures. I will not discuss the Kenner dolls at length today, but instead spotlight a modern cross-collectible Star Wars doll set made by Madame Alexander. Sold through FAO Schwarz in a small limited edition box set, these dolls in the childhood likeness of Luke, Leia and Han were on the expensive side when bought brand new. Though the set is popular with doll collectors as well as Star Wars collectors it can still be found on Ebay at a decent price, as seen in the auction link below.

New Lego Mini Sets & Cantina Set Found!
November 14, 2003 | 3:47 PM EST | Keri

YakReader Ugmo writes in with his latest Lego finds:

This morning at a Toy’R’Us in Burbank, Ca (SoCal) they had the 4 new Lego Mini Sets (the Imperial Shuttle, the Sith Infiltrator, the AT-TE and the Star Destroyer, $6.99 each) plus they had the new Mos Eisley Cantina set ($29.99).
And if there’s anyone whose near a Lego Store, the one here in the Glendale Galleria (SoCal) has the Bespin ($99.99) and the UCS Snowspeeder sets (I think $129.99?). Thought you’d like to know seeing that I didn’t know some of these were coming out yet.

Looks like it may be time for a Lego/Toy run this weekend!

Bounty Hunting Today: Pillows!
November 13, 2003 | 5:09 PM EST | Keri

If you need some decorations to spruce up your bed, and don’t want to do it using stuffed Ewoks, then these pillows are just the thing!

Today’s feature focuses on pillows featuring well-known Star Wars characters, meant to complement sheets, bedspreads or any collection. Although vintage pillows were produced for ROTJ, with the likenesses of Vader, R2, and Jabba with Salacious Crumb, the auctions today deal with modern pillows from Episode I and II. The modern pillows are easy to locate in unused condition, while the vintage pillows provide much more of a challenge in locating.

The auctions below include favorite characters at very reasonable prices, which can also be given as gifts for the upcoming holidays!

Anakin disses Hasbro’s Real Scan Technology
November 13, 2003 | 2:49 PM EST | Ben

theforce.net had this cute little tidbit from Hayden Christensen…

Q: Do you have your own doll?

A: I do have the doll! They send you one of everyone that’s made. But mine is going to stay in the box for a very long time (laugh). I got my own action figure – I was like: This is the coolest thing. But I have to say, the doll doesn’t look like me at all.

Bounty Hunting Today: Han Blaster Prop Replicas
November 12, 2003 | 5:07 PM EST | Keri

In keeping with yesterday’s feature dealing with Master Replicas lightsabers, today’s focus is on blaster prop replicas, specifically the broom handled Mauser that Han shot first and effectively crisped Greedo in the Cantina.

Master Replicas was not the first company to produce Han Blasters. In the days before Ebay, before the Internet, when collectors bought and sold through magazines like Starlog there was Marco Enterprises out of Anaheim, California. Though Lucas tried to shut down the production of these very accurate and beautifully made blasters, which were sold with the holster and droid caller as a set, the attempt was unsuccessful. The company no longer produces these blasters, and most are in the hands of collectors today. It is a real treat indeed to have found this on my Ebay search.

I have auctions below for both the Marco Enterprises Han Blaster with leather holster and droid caller, as well as an auction for the current, but sold out Master Replicas Han Blaster with case. The Master Replicas Han Blaster is gorgeous and rare, due to the small number produced, as well as the large price tag when bought new at the retail level. Both of these blasters make great additions to any collection which includes props.

Bounty Hunting Today: Lightsaber Prop Replicas
November 11, 2003 | 5:01 PM EST | Keri

Master Replicas has released many lightsaber prop replicas during a relatively short time. Collectors have been treated with high quality, movie accurate fully liscened props which can be displayed in boxes and/or cases.

The only complaint may be that the prices are too expensive for some collectors to afford. Never fear! Ebay is here with some great deals on these beautiful props. It seems to me, that more often than not, with modern collecting, there is a large feeding frenzy for the newest item, then interest drops to almost nonexistent. This is where patience plays a huge part in getting the items you dream of at bargain prices. Loyal readers, you will see me preach this many times, but the majority of my modern collection has either been bought at clearance prices or through Ebay dealer closeouts. This is the way I have been able to add these prop replicas to my collection without breaking the bank or going into debt.

As we are all watching the Clone Wars Cartoon, eagerly awaiting Ep. 3, these lightsabers are at all time low prices…though perhaps after Ep. 3 the bargains will not be this plentiful. If you are looking for great Christmas gifts or wish to treat yourself, check out the bargain prices these auctions have to offer today!

This breaking news comes courtesy of the official site. Dark Horse Comics will distribute the young Obi-Wan in March 2004 at a suggested retail price of $94.99. Bounty Hunting Today: 3-D Droideka Standup
November 10, 2003 | 12:42 AM EST | Keri

There’s nothing like a lifesize standup of a favorite Star Wars character in 3-D form guarding your collection!
Most standups are 2-Dimensional and are merely large glossy printed paper pasted onto a thick cardboard backing. While these are cool in their own right, there is a 3-D option made of cardboard which can also be found at a very affordable price.

Released amongst the deluge of Ep.1 items at the retail level, DK Books produced lifesize 3-D droid standups. The characters were all droids and included R2, Battle Droid, and the Destroyer Droid (Droideka). The pricing point was around $100 at the time and was bought by some collectors, but was generally looked over for less expensive items or was not widely known due to little advertising.

Patience is truly a virtue when collecting modern items, and patience can pay off in great money savings. A great example of this is the auction for the Droideka Standup featured today at a price much lower than retail in an unopened box.

Bounty Hunting Today: Model Vehicles
November 9, 2003 | 2:37 AM EST | Keri

The Star Wars universe is filled with a plethora of different vehicles, both fast and nimble as well as large and lumbering. The designs were and are still unique, and make great companions to the multitude of figures most collectors acquire.

Today’s feature takes a moment to spotlight auctions for some of the coolest and most memorable ships and speeders from the entire Star Wars body of films. Most of the vintage models were distributed by MPC/Ertl in the 70’s and 80’s and the same models were reissued in the same packaging in 1992 with a commerative sticker on the cellophane wrapping. Many exceptional models have been made in Japan and remain among the most accurate of any models available for general purchase.

Bounty Hunting Today: Kubrick Toys
November 7, 2003 | 5:54 PM EST | Keri

Kubrick Toys are neat and interesting additions to any collection, as they are highly detailed and as the slogan says “unbreakable”. Made in Japan for the Japanese Market, these are also great foreign collectible items.

The figures are Lego-esque upon a first glance, but with some further inspection it is easy to see that these are not Lego’s. The simple way in which the figures are presented is refreshing as well as entertaining.

Today’s auctions below feature a special carded Luke reminiscent of the original Kenner 12 backs, exclusive to The Art of Star Wars Exhibit at the Kyoto National Museum, as well as an unopened 12 pack of the Series 1 Figure Set of Bounty Hunters. Click the links below to check out these great little items!

Playskool UNRELEASED Protos
November 6, 2003 | 11:53 PM EST | Bill

It looks like there are more figures which have been developed for the now dormant Playskool line. Whether these figures were developed for the line originally and put on hold, or were developed for a new set of releases is unknown, but they do look very cool. Kudos to Yak Reader Michael for finding them.

I Love This Cantina
November 6, 2003 | 11:47 PM EST | Bill

This just in from Yak Reader Barry:

Not collecting news but still cool news. Hey just wanted to post that i was watching the country music awards show on wednesday night and toby keith was performing his new song “I love this bar”. In the back ground on large screen was the mos eisley cantina bar scene from a new hope. It ran about a 30 second clip. It was the one that scans the bar and introduces you to all the aliens. I about fell out and laughed out loud. Neat stuff. My hats off to Toby Keith.

I’m starting up a new feature here at Yakface, hopefully I will be able to add one article a week – it will be a review/product highlights of Prop Replicas. As I get through the items in my personal collection, I’ll ask you as our readers to help me out with some of the reviews. To order any of the replicas I will feature, visit Master Replicas.

Holy Trilogy on DVD 9/2004
November 6, 2003 | 4:21 PM EST | Ben

thedigitalbits.com also reports:

Well, we’ve finally heard from our sources on that meeting that Lucasfilm held yesterday at the Presidio with their retail partners… Star Wars: Episodes IV, V & VI are coming to DVD in September of 2004. The animated series of Clone Wars shorts appearing soon on the Cartoon Network will also be released on DVD, possibly before the end of this year. The teaser campaign for Episode III will begin in January of 2005, leading up to the May theatrical release. Finally… Episode III will hit DVD in November of 2005. …Keep in mind that none of this is official until Lucasfilm publicaly announces it… but this is certainly, at long last, the real deal.

Commentary: One wonders why Mr. Lucas changed his mind. He seemed dead set on a nice six-film boxed set. Perhaps, like the Indy Trilogy there aren’t enough extras to do a bonus disc per film. My bet is the Star Wars set will resemble the Indy set in many ways.

Vader’s Assault
November 6, 2003 | 3:44 PM EST | Mark B

Aint It Cool News has the first report I have seen from the Marketing Summit held yesterday at Lucasfilms. Obviously they discussed the Clone Wars cartoon, but it looks like we may finally see the Originally Trilogy on DVD in Sept ’04!!! May ’05 will be Episode III in theaters, and then it will be on DVD around November of ’05. There are some spoilers mentioned, but I will say that Episode III footage was shown to those in attendance. The Aint It Cool News website seems to be running REALLY SLOW right now. Probably from all of us trying to read this story!

Bounty Hunting Today: Beer Steins
November 6, 2003 | 12:22 PM EST | Keri

Steins have been around in one shape or form for many centuries, used as vessels to drink primarily beer and other beverages. The far reaching licsences of the Star Wars universe did indeed include the large ceramic mugs which were beautifully decorated with characters and themes from a galaxy far, far away.

The Steins featured in today’s auctions are limited and numbered editions with excellent craftsmanship. The first stein features the most feared and well-liked Bounty Hunter in the world, Boba Fett. The figural pewter detail, as well as art by Dave Dorman make this Stein a real treasure. The other auction I have chosen today is a bargain basement price for a Stein which displays the Special Edition artwork from A New Hope.

Both of these Steins were quite expensive when they were first released, but with time and patience these items can sometimes be found at decent and even bargain prices. Click on the links below to get your Stein collection started!

Please Excuse My Absence…
November 6, 2003 | 11:51 AM EST | Keri

Although a bit off topic, yesterday, I had the treat of seeing The Matrix Revolutions as well as the remastered Alien: The Director’s Cut.
If you have not had a chance to see Alien yet, I highly recommend it, especially if you have a digital theater in your city. I saw it in digital format and I must say the picture quality never ceases to amaze me. The deleted scenes that were added back in to the film were wonderful to see where they belonged again. As a special bonus before the film, I was surprised and pleased to see that Alien Vs. Predator will finally be a movie on theaters on August 6th, 2004 – see ya’ll in line for that one!

Toby Keith in Star Wars?
November 6, 2003 | 9:41 AM EST | Mark B

Hasbro Really Does Care
November 5, 2003 | 7:42 PM EST | Bill

Interesting news for skeptics of the Jedi Master Points Auction. Hasbro sent out Emails asking registered members (it appears of starwars.hasbro.com) to complete a survey about the Jedi Master Points Auctions. Questions range from auction closing values to auction item selections, and more. It looks like this program could continue beyond its current December end date.

UPDATE Jango Fett Blasters
November 5, 2003 | 6:02 PM EST | Jason

I’m very happy to report, that the Neon Orange inserts in the
barrel of the blaster are REMOVABLE! Here is the low-down from
Dave Cordes who discovered how to remove it and was nice enough
to share detailed information with us:

“You will need a 1/16 alan wrench to remove the screw just under the barrel flash. Once removed, unscrew the flash by holding onto the opposite end of the barrel. Once the flash is removed, simply push the orange plug out. You can turn it over and reinsert it back into the flash with the silver side facing outward and the orange side facing inward or if you prefer to have a more realistic gun, leave the barrel hollow without reinserting the plug cap. Screw the flash back onto the barrel and reinsert the pin using the alan wrench. Voila!”

Thanks again to Dave. My thoughts on why they would not indicate
this to me on the phone are probably related in some legal manner that
would prevent them from sharing this information with patrons.

Bounty Hunting Today: Sigma Figural Mugs
November 4, 2003 | 5:46 PM EST | Keri

Today’s Bounty Hunting feature focuses on the wonderfully designed ceramic figural mugs produced by Sigma in 1983 to coincide with the release of ROTJ.

Today’s auctions represent another cardinal rule of Ebay shopping and surfing: the most simplistic descriptions can yield excellent results. Some sellers are not always aware of an items value, age etc. and therefore often give their auction a simple, nondescriptive title. No matter how non assuming something appears to be, it may be a treasure of an auction waiting to be discovered at a very reasonable price.

If you are looking for a stylish way to drink your coffee in the morning, or simply a great mug of your favorite character, the auctions below will give you a great start.

Last but not Least…
November 4, 2003 | 5:39 PM EST | Keri

Last, but certainly not least, I have one more Star Wars themed pumpkin for everyone to enjoy.
This pumpkin was carved by a YakReader’s wife, who’s name I was not provided with unfortunately. The pumpkin, as you can see, is a very faithful rendition of the saga’s defining character who is the driving Force behind every character’s story.

Bounty Hunting Today: Weechee Prototype
November 3, 2003 | 3:24 PM EST | Keri

After being out of town all weekend as well as celebrating a special Halloween, I return to my normal Bounty Hunting duties and present you with a very interesting prototype auction today.

Other than pictures in Toy Fair Catalogs, opportunities for concrete prototypes do not often turn up everyday. Most internal copies stayed within the company or were destroyed, but some made it out with employees to find a very interested mass of collectors on Ebay today.

Near the end of the Kenner production line, in the seeming end of Star Wars figure popularity, the Droids and Ewoks lines of toys were all that was left after nearly a decade of unstoppable Kenner Star Wars toys sales. The Ewoks cartoon was short lived and the toy line was no exception. There were many plans to expand the line to include more figures, repackaged vehicles and plush Ewoks, all of which never made it to toy shelves.

Today’s auction is for an Ewoks internal painted hardcopy of the character Weechee. This is indeed a rare item, with only 10 or fewer known to be in existence, this is just the item for a collector looking for every item in the Kenner realm.

Lego On Sale
November 2, 2003 | 10:34 AM EST | Mark B

The new Toys R Us ad arrived in the Sunday Newspaper today and was almost completely void of Star Wars items. The one exception was in the Lego section. Both items advertised are available online and you can find them here:

Lego AT-AT – On Sale $79.99

New Lego Dagobah X-Wing – $49.99

Also, the final book in the New Jedi Order Series: The Unifying Force is being released this coming Tuesday (Nov 4). I don’t know if this is an exclusive item to Amazon or not, but the version they are selling claims to include a Bonus CD-ROM, which I had not heard of before and didn’t see mentioned in any other ads today!

The Lightsaber splits into two and the base is the floor of the Theed Generator.
