Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Kenner Lightsaber Proof Sheet
January 31, 2006 | 5:08 PM EST | Keri

There are a multitude of different ways in which one may decide to focus a collection. Whether it be on a specific character, film, vintage or modern, or maybe even solely upon pre-production or proof items. Today’s Bounty Hunting brings us one of those harder to find Kenner proof items.

Kenner produced many things that were branded with the Revenge of the Jedi logo before the title was changed to Return of the Jedi. This is all ancient folklore now practically. Today’s auction is for a Kenner Lightsaber display piece proof sheet or “dump” as they are commonly referred to by most. Proof sheets were produced to finalize the look of the artwork for a toy, and to mass produce the same image for packaging purposes. The proof sheet does have the Revenge of the Jedi logo on it, and the same exact art that was used on the Return of the Jedi dump that was produced later. When buying proof sheets, it is a good idea to get some sort of “paper trail” on the item to discover its origins, in other words ask a lot of questions. Most proof sheets have come directly from former Kenner employees and whoever you are looking to purchase from should not hesitate to provide you some sort of history on the item. Click on through to add a great Lightsaber proof sheet to your Kenner collection today!

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Vintage R2-D2 Bop Bag
January 30, 2006 | 2:02 PM EST | Keri

Collecting Star Wars items that are a bit out of the ordinary is my speciaility, and today’s auction is a fun little Kenner oddity.

Bop Bags were produced by Kenner in 1977-78 in an effort to get Star Wars themed toys on the shelf as quickly as possible. Four different Bop Bags were available which included the larger sized Vader and Chewie, and the appropriately smaller Jawa and R2-D2. Chewie and Vader inflated to 50″ tall while Jawa and R2 inflated to only 36″ for the smaller kids to knock around with ease. The Bop Bags were made of vinyl with the image printed on, and the base was filled with sand to weight it down. Once inflated, the fun of bopping began! When searching for a Bop Bag for your collection, look for one in a sealed box if at all possible. Most Bop Bags were used and some can have air leaks or rips and tears. It is next to impossible to get them back into the box once they have been removed without the box bursting at the seams. Today’s auction is for the R2-D2 Bop Bag, my personal favorite, complete in a nice sealed box. I love the box art on these too! The creepy looking kids in those nasty polyester Sears pants bring back lots of memories to say the least! Bop Bags are not too difficult to find, condition and sealed box are just the keys that can make the search a little tougher. Click on through to add this nice R2-D2 Bop Bag to your collection today!

V for Vendetta in IMAX
January 28, 2006 | 3:48 PM EST | Keri

This isn’t really Star Wars news, but as we all know our very own Padme Amidala aka Natalie Portman is starring in the soon to be released film V for Vendetta. What is interesting is the fact that the film will be released on regular screens and IMAX screens simultaneously according to cinematical.com. The film opens on March 17th in both formats and looks to be very good from what I have seen in the previews. Now, back to your regularly scheduled Star Wars news…

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: ESB Dixie Cups
January 28, 2006 | 3:41 PM EST | Keri

Dixie cups were really popular in the 80’s and if you had a cool mom, you more than likely had them in a dispenser in your bathroom or kitchen. Today’s Bounty Hunting features one of the more colorful boxes of Dixie Cups in an Empire Strikes Back theme.

Dixie produced small disposable cups for each film in the Original Trilogy as well as some after ROTJ which were branded “Star Wars Saga” and had photos from the films on the box rather than artwork. I personally think the boxes from ESB are among the most colorful and striking of all the Dixie Cups. Most of the ESB boxes had vehicles on them such as the AT-AT, Cloud Car, Falcon in the Asteroid Field and Star Destroyers. The only character boxes were Yoda, Vader and Luke astride his Tauntaun. While not every collector aspires to have a complete collection of sealed Dixie Cup boxes, these still are affordable and look nice as part of a vintage display. Today’s auction is for Luke on his Tauntaun which is especially gorgeous and is in nice sealed condition. Click on through to add this beauty to your collection today!

Titanium TIE Fighter Variant Found
January 28, 2006 | 8:05 AM EST | Scott

Yak reader ” Rancor Rancher ” has found a running change to the chase white TIE Fighter in the currently shipping wave of Titanium vehicles…

” I just wanted to send in a report that there is a variant Titanium Series white TIE fighter with a small “titanium series” logo marked on the inner side of its left wing (picture attached). To date i have seen a total of 10 white TIE-fighters, and only one of them has this marking, so i presume it is pretty rare. ”

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: ROTJ McQuarrie Portfolio
January 27, 2006 | 3:38 PM EST | Keri

Undoubtedly without the amazing conceptual art created by Ralph McQuarrie, Star Wars may have never existed in film for everyone to enjoy. As Lucas peddled his screenplay from studio to studio in 1976, he showed McQuarrie’s unique vision for his proposed space opera. Today’s Bounty Hunting allows us to possess, albeit in reprint form, some of the conceptual art created by McQuarrie in the pre-production stages of Return of the Jedi.

Ballantine Books produced 3 packages containing lithograph reprints of McQuarrie’s conceptual designs for each film in the Original Trilogy. The prints came in a thin cardstock envelope and were suitable for framing or simply hanging to a wall with a pushpin. Each portfolio contained 20 lithographs of memorable scenes from the specific film. Today, while these art portfolios really aren’t rare or scare, they are difficult to find in mint or even good condition. In most cases, the lithographs can be full of pin holes or have torn/tattered edges and in some cases, some are missing altogether. Today’s auction has a complete set of all 20 lithographs, still in the original cellophane. While the folder itself has some wear, this is again a more common state in which to find these portfolios. Click on through to today to add some McQuarrie art lithographs to your collection at an affordable price!

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Tri-Logo Han Error MOC
January 26, 2006 | 4:16 PM EST | Keri

Following up yesterday’s POTF Tri-Logo auction, today’s spotlight is on a Tri-Logo item that is familiar to most collectors.

Today’s variation hunters delight in seemingly common errors that abound in the modern line of Hasbro figures produced. In the days of vintage collecting, errors were considered to be just that, errors that did not raise the value of the item. Most vintage errors tend to be found on Tri-Logo cardbacks for many reasons. The Tri-logos were in essence cheaper, as they could be distributed throughout Europe with several languages stacked on the cardback. The Tri-Logo cards were a thinner cardstock which was glossier than the US Kenner cards. The plastic bubbles were made of a thinner plastic as well and therefore get dented and damaged much easier. One interesting thing about the plastic is that it tends to not yellow like other bubbles. Errors more than likely occured when workers packaging cards ran out of a figure they would simply put in something that was close enough, such as the same character in a different outfit or a creature who looked similar. This brings us to today’s featured auction a Han Bespin card with a Han Hoth figure in the bubble. I find these errors to be interesting, but I find the true photo variations in the Tri-Logo line to be more fascinating. I know some collectors enjoy and seek out errors of all sorts, and this is just their ticket. Click on through to add this Tri-Logo error to your collection today!

Republic Gunship v 4.0
January 25, 2006 | 8:39 PM EST | Bill

That’s right, there’s a fourth version of the Republic Gunship and this is one you REALLY WANT! Yes, Hasbro is reusing the mold, but the paint job is outstanding– it’s the Animated Clone Wars gunship with the blue body and “tiger jaws” around the bow guns. Rebelscum has just posted the images here. Oh and if the image on the box art is accurrate, it looks like there are more new clones on the way too!

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Vintage POTF Tri-Logo Playpack
January 25, 2006 | 2:45 PM EST | Keri

Items sold in countries foreign to the US yield some of the more unusual and often times more desirable items for collectors. Some collectors spend literally their whole lives searching for truly rare toys and playsets. Today’s auction is for a rather hard to find playpack which the US never really had.

In 1985, Star Wars mania subsided to the point where toys simply sat on the shelves and were subsequently clearanced out. Kenner was moving on to the next hot toy commodity and looking forward to other lines such as the successful Super Powers. Overseas outlets were used to sell out extra toys and creatures, to help clear out old stock. Among the many ways surplus toys were sold, was in the POTF Tri-logo Playpacks. There were no extra toys or accessories that weren’t released in the US in these playpacks. There were 3 playpacks available: Hoth Rescue, Ewok Combat and Endor Chase. Today’s auction is for the scarce Hoth Rescue which is loose and complete with the box. The action figures originally came on Tri-Logo cards which were folded in half to fit in the box with the Wampa and Tauntaun. These don’t come up for sale too often and though the box is a bit worn, it is still an interesting piece to add to a collection. You just can’t beat the stacked POTF Tri-Logos and the great photo on the box. Vintage POTF items aren’t the cheapest or the easiest to find, let alone the foriegn POTF toys and playsets. Click on through to add this great playpack to your collection today!

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Vintage Custom Denim Jacket
January 24, 2006 | 12:49 PM EST | Keri

I really enjoy making a variety of custom items, whether they be plastic, metal or fabric. In an homage to the decorated denim jackets of the 70s Disco era, I painted an Empire Strikes Back logo on the back and Boba Fett on the front of my Levi’s jean jacket a few years ago. Today’s auction is for a true vintage Lee’s denim jacket, complete with old school Star Wars hand painted designs.

Obviously inspired by the popular bed sheet sets from 1978, the images painted on this vintage Lee’s jacket are well done in my opinion. The condition of the jacket isn’t perfect, it was worn and enjoyed by its owner. However, in the case of an item like this, I think the wear adds to the charm of the item. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and not everyone can appreciate or enjoy this “art” as much as I am, but the gold glitter accents really add an extra something to this jacket and make it “pop”. Click on through to add this denim jacket to your collection or your wardrobe today!

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Vintage C-3PO Bank
January 21, 2006 | 11:36 PM EST | Keri

I think just about everyone has had a “piggy bank” of some sort at one point in their life. I know that I had a Care Bears ceramic bank that I really liked a lot. However, if I would have been lucky enough to have a Star Wars bank, I don’t think I would’ve gotten rid of it. Today’s feature takes a look at a very nice ceramic bank in the shape of our favorite fussy protocol droid C-3PO.

Three Star Wars themed banks were produced by Roman Ceramics in 1978, which included C-3PO, R2-D2 and a Vader head. These banks are quite large and have great likenesses of the characters portrayed. The C-3PO bank is my favorite of the bunch because of his shiny gold plating and great “fussy” look. Today’s auction includes the original cardboard box which was devoid of any artwork. Most banks are hard to find with the plunger at the bottom still intact, and more often than not the boxes were thrown away and not kept. Today’s example appears to be mint with no annoying cracks or chips, which is another thing to look for when buying a ceramic bank. Click on through to add this great vintage bank to your collection today!

How to Make a Chewie Tissue Box Cover
January 20, 2006 | 3:51 PM EST | Keri

The cold and flu season is at its peak in many parts of the US right now and I know I have been fighting a bug and going through a few hundred tissues. What better way to fight off a cold than with a smile from a furry Chewie tissue box cover! Any cold would be utterly defenseless against the most powerful Wookie in the universe!

Over at the official site in the Star Wars Kids section, there is a quick and easy step by step tutorial with photos and a list of materials which show how to make your very own Chewie tissue box cover or “cozy”. Head on over to the site by clicking here.

Want Cash Back On Your Fan Club Purchases?
January 19, 2006 | 10:07 PM EST | Bill

Rick over at the Michigan Star Wars Collectors Club found the 411 to make it happen:

I just discovered that Starwarsshop.com (and LucasArtsStore.com) are
both listed as stores giving 3% cash back on purchases made through
ebates.com. If you are not familiar with ebates, they are a “click-through” cash back website. You must sign into ebates, and then click on their link to the online retailer. Doing so will result in up to 25% cash back (usually much less of course), for your purchases. Not a bad deal for purchases that you normally do anyway. Once you earn $5 (or more) cash back they will automatically mail you a check (or deposit into your paypal acct). This occurs about 4 times a year.
Also, I’ve never done this before, but what the heck…. Ebates has a
referral program, where if you sign up using the link below, they will pay both of us $5 if you join from this referral and buy anything through the site. After you sign up and buy something, they’ll put the $5 in each of our accounts and include it in our next check. Visit the following URLhttp://www.ebates.com/rf.do?id=31429

Prices Slashed on MR Lightsabers at Best Buy
January 19, 2006 | 7:53 PM EST | Keri

Alright, that was a bad pun but I couldn’t resist. YakReader Wälrüsmän in Ohio writes with this report:

“Just writing to tell you that Besy Buy stores in Ohio have dropped their collection of Master Replicas’ Force FX Lightsabers from $119 down to $70.

Mostly Darth Vader left, but I did see some Anakin & Mace Windu. Excellent deal!!”

I went to a Borders Book Store here in Plano, TX last night and saw they had dropped their price on a Luke ROTJ MR F/X Lightsaber down to $99.99. Not as good of a deal as Best Buy, but better than nothing.

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Vintage Japanese X-Wing Pin
January 19, 2006 | 2:43 PM EST | Keri

I don’t really care to use the word “rare” when describing collectibles, as its overuse on Ebay has made the word practically common, ironically enough. I will use the word scarce when describing the focus of today’s edition of Bounty Hunting.

Takara licsensed and produced a wide variety of different products in Japan from wood models, larger 8″ action figures and even jewelry products. Today’s auction is for a scarce 1978 Takara copper X-Wing pin on the card. These little gems do not come up for sale frequently in the US, and can be very difficult to locate. I myself have never seen one “in person” but from what I can see in the picture the detail looks to be very nice. This is a really neat little item to add to a Star Wars jewelry collection, it’s quite a stand-out piece. Click on through to see this tiny copper X-Wing and fly it home to your collection today!

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Vintage Belt Buckle
January 17, 2006 | 1:59 PM EST | Keri

Among the sea of t-shirts produced in late ’77 and early ’78 were scores of belt buckles. Most of the belt buckles made were unlicensed by companies seeking quick profits from the epic film that was sweeping the nation. However, one company did hold the license and today’s auction is for one of their belt buckles.

The Leather Shop, located in San Fransisco produced 5 different designs on heavy brass belt buckles in 1977. The designs were large, simple and still look amazing to this day. The designs made were Vader, C3-PO & R2, R2 by himself, Star Wars logo, and X-Wing & TIE Fighter dogfight with the words Star Wars below it. Today’s auction is for the X-Wing & TIE buckle. As I mentioned earlier, tons of bootleg buckles were made in the same time period, many of them “borrowed” the same designs the Leather Shop sold. The bootleg buckles made by Basic Tool & Leather are much more shiny and the designs are more “sharp”. I personally like the texture on the Leather Shop buckles better, although bootleg buckles can still be fun and interesting to collect. Leather Shop buckles are getting tougher to find in nice condition and today’s auction has this buckle at a very reasonable price. Click on through to add this to your collection or add some flair to your boring old belt!

Happy Bounty Hunting….err Birthday!
January 17, 2006 | 1:41 PM EST | Keri

Yesterday’s Revenge of Bounty Hunting spotlighted an auction for a vintage Boba Fett cake pan. I just happen to have one in my collection and I make a birthday cake for my husband every year that is of course Star Wars related. This year, he wanted a Jango Fett cake and the cake above is what I was able to make and decorate. All the icing was applied with a spatula and i mixed the colors with food coloring myself. Silver icing sure is a hard color to make by the way! Enjoy everyone!

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Boba Fett Cake Pan
January 16, 2006 | 4:26 PM EST | Keri

A perennial fan favorite since his auspicious debut in Empire Strikes Back, Boba Fett is still the Bounty Hunter of all bounty hunters in the Star Wars universe. Vintage as well as modern Fett items are highly sought after and show no signs of slowing in popularity, or in price for that matter. Today’s auction is for something a little more obscure in the realm of Fett collecting: a Cake Pan.

Wilton produced a small line of cake pans, candles and decorative “put-ons” in 1983. Among the cake pans available were Vader, R2-D2, C-3PO and of course Boba Fett. Children rejoiced as they could celebrate a special birthday gobbling up a frosting covered creation of their favorite Star Wars hero or villian. The cake pans are made of aluminum and tend to have some scratches and wear on the face of the pan. The pans did come originally with a paper insert showing the finished cake decorated, tips on frosting applications and small photos of the specific character in scenes from the movie. This insert is missing from today’s auction, as more often than not they were simply thrown away as soon as a cake was baked. Be prepared to pay much more for a cake pan with an insert that was unused. Character shaped designs like this are no longer made, so these really are unique in their own right. These cake pans look amazing hanging on a wall all together and they are detailed enough to make great looking cakes too! Click on through to add this Fett cake pan to your collection of Star Wars bounty today!

Star Wars Action News – Sansweet Interview Part One!
January 16, 2006 | 12:07 AM EST | Scott

You read it right folks. Our good friends over at Review Star Wars.com have managed to score an interview with the super collector and Lucasfilm Fan Relations Guy himself, Steve Sansweet!!

Here’s what Arnie and Marjorie have to say about this weeks podcast…

” Steve Sansweet is a man of man of many faces. He is Lucasfilm’s Director of Content Management, a regular columnist in the Star Wars Insider, and he is head of Lucasfilm Fan Relations, but most of all he is a Star Wars fan. The ultimate Star Wars collector and owner of Rancho Obi-Wan, a little seen, much lusted after cove of Star Wars treasures.

As the hosts of the only podcast dedicated specifically to Star Wars collecting, Arnie & Marjorie can think of no one in the world more fitting for their first interview than Steve Sansweet, and we are delighted that Steve agreed to take time out of his schedule to talk with us.

This week, the first half of our interview with Steve is in our latest podcast. Steve talks about what drives him to collect, why he chose Star Wars, and what happens to unopened food after ten years. Always entertaining, informative, and sometimes giving answers you may not expect, Steve Sansweet was a joy to speak with and we are glad to be able to share our discussion with you, our listeners and ask him questions submitted by YOU, the subscribers to the Star Wars Action News newsletter.

In addition, Marjorie and Arnie discuss the Star Wars X-Wing transformer, and reveal some rumors whispered in Arnie’s ear by a Bothan spy…

This is by far our best episode yet, so rush to your favorite podcast software or to ReviewStarWars.com and listen to Episode 21, and be sure to check back next week when Steve answers questions regarding the upcoming Star Wars television shows, the 3-D remastering of the Star Wars saga, and the George Lucas line from Celebration 3. ”

Outstanding! Head on over to download Part 1 of their interview now!!

Attention Boba Fett Collectors— The Errors Strike Back
January 15, 2006 | 8:46 PM EST | Bill

That’s right, just when you though you were relatively safe, as if the variations in hologram figure pack-ins weren’t enough, The Boba emblem errors are BACK. Yak Reader Dave sent in the above photos showing the “new” Saga Boba with and without his emblem. (The image on the left has the emblem just above his thumb, the one on the right is the error).

UPDATE: They just keep coming. Rebelscum has just posted the details and photos of a packaging variation of our favorite Mandelorian, one has the flame base infront of this legs on the bubble, the other has the flames behind his legs. Thanks to Yak Reader Clark for the heads-up.

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Custom Lifesize Battle Droid
January 15, 2006 | 3:10 PM EST | Keri

I enjoy the hobby of customizing figures, mainly in the 3 3/4″ and 12″ scales. Today’s auction is for something I’m not sure if I could ever construct: a lifesize Battle Droid.

Standing 6 feet tall, made of resin, foam and movable pistons today’s custom Battle Droid has every detail to make it as movie accurate as possible. The droid even folds up as seen in Episode I – this droid is no statue. The paint application is spot on as far as the amount of wear and weathering. I can only guess at the amount of hours and effort that went into the making of this item. While the price may not be in everyone’s range, the craftsmanship that went into making this piece can definitely be admired. Click on through below to add this amazing Battle Droid to your collection room today!

TRU Store Closing Update
January 14, 2006 | 10:31 PM EST | Bill

Yak Reader Niddspace sent in this report:

“The folks at Lucasfilm have just about settled into their new home at the Letterman Digital Center, and now they won’t have a TRU in San Francisco to visit to see how their merchandising lines are doing.

The only TRU actually in SF – the Geary St. store – is being closed, along with the Colma store (just outside the city to the south) and the Emeryville store (across the Bay to the east). The going out of business ads were in today’s SF Chronicle.

No word on the San Rafael store – guess they are going to keep it going.”

We’ve also seen that Las Cruces, New Mexico’s TRU is going the way of the dodo as well, leaving Southern New Mexico without a TRU.

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Canadian Coke Poster
January 14, 2006 | 1:06 PM EST | Keri

Store displays are some of my favorite items to collect. Not only do they have some of the most brilliant colors, bold artwork and amazing designs, but they have a way of setting off a collection room like none other.

Today’s auction is for a vintage Coke store display poster from our neighbors to the north in Canada. Coca Cola ran many promotions which included Star Wars from 1977-83 for each film in the Original Trilogy. While the US saw Coke/Slurpee cups and tie-ins with Burger King, other countries saw Coke bottle caps with tie-in contests. The bottle caps from Japan were more colorful with Star Wars scenes and characters printed on the inside of the cap or crown. However, the bottle caps from Canada seem to be almost forgotten. Sure, they aren’t as cool looking as the ones from Japan, but the primitive style line art chracter drawings have their own special charm. The bottle caps were part of a contest that ended in 1978. Earlier items like this can be very difficult to find, especially items from other countries. Personally I have never seen this display poster that is up for grabs at auction and I think it’s really fascinating. The condition is mint with no folding, stains, tears or pinholes and the price is very reasonable as well. Click on through to add this gem to your store display collection today!

Hoth Update
January 13, 2006 | 10:43 PM EST | Bill

Yak Reader Samsin sent in this report:

I live in Baytown and I found all the Hoth figues this morning

as well as Bobba’s chopper,Lukes’s X-wing transformer, and another treasure hunt Tie Fighter. I stopped by the Wal Mart in Crosby as well and the shelves were loaded down with new stuff. I also found the new titanium set with the raw metal Falcon. Thanks for the tip.

Here’s Yak Reader Garth’s Report from Ohio:

I have found the Battle of Carkoon and the Battle of Hoth at Target in Macedonia, OH. Both sets at once! Start checking out the stores in OHIO. The packages were in mint condition and the bubbles were perfectly clear and not all scratched up. Target seems to be more careful than Walmart. Good Luck!

Yak Reader Pete dropped us an Email about his score too:

I was in Target today trying to get the Jabba figures and was pleasantly surprised to already find some of the Hoth wave on the shelves. There were only these three (Snowtrooper, General Veers and Major Bren Derlin), but keep an eye out for them in stores soon. (FYI: For hologram figures I got two Dooku’s and an Amidala)

If you’re in the market for this wave, it sounds like it’s hitting pretty consistently.

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Vintage Vader Shoes
January 13, 2006 | 3:31 PM EST | Keri

One way to look super stylish with your corduroy bell bottoms, iron-on shirt and tube socks, all the while impressing the ladies and not getting beat up at elementary school, was to wear a pair of Darth Vader shoes.

Produced by Clark’s in late ’77 up to the release of ROTJ (Stride Rite had the shoe license in 1983), these shoes reflected the style of the times with Star Wars characters embossed in leather on the sides, as well as on the bottom of the sole. Today’s auction is for a pair of brown leather shoes, not the later nylon Nike “jogging” style seen in the early ’80s with ESB Logos. Vintage Star Wars shoes are becoming increasingly harder to find in unused condition along with the original box, Logo bag to carry the shoes home in, paper brochures and hang tag all included. Today’s auction has all those important bits and pieces along with the shoes being in unworn condition. These vintage shoes don’t come up for sale too often and the prices for premium condition can be much higher than one might expect. Click on through below to grab these amazing Darth Vader shoes today and add them to your collection!

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Vintage Vader Poster
January 12, 2006 | 3:39 PM EST | Keri

Yesterday’s previous edition of Bounty Hunting spotlighted Iron-on T-shirt designs made by Factors in the 70s-80s. Today’s feature is a vintage Darth Vader poster also produced by Factors for A New Hope back in ’77-78.

Before Kenner’s Early Bird empty envelope, there simply wasn’t a huge amount of memorabilia that a Star Wars fan could buy after the movie came out in May 1977. Factors Inc. cornered the market in the early days producing licensed T-shirts, Iron-on decals, buttons, hats and yes even posters. Fans could choose from now classic Star Wars character designs and hang them on the wall right across from their beloved Farrah and Trans-Am posters.

Today’s auction is for a Darth Vader Factors poster which is in amazingly mint unused condition. It can be a real challenge finding an original poster that does not have pinholes, tape stains, missing corners or has not been folded. Posters that were sold to be used as decoration in the home, rather than as advertising in movie theaters are becoming more difficult to find in top notch condition – most posters were just tacked to the wall. This Vader poster is a great example at a very reasonable price. Click on through below to add the mysterious Dark Lord of the Sith to your collection today!

Wal-Mart Clearances Discounted Further
January 11, 2006 | 8:47 PM EST | Bill

Yak Reader Mike from sent in Phoenix this report:

Among my scores @ Wal-Mart (35th Ave/Bethany Home in Phoenix) on Saturday were an additional 50% off already reduced toys. For me, that meant $4.00 ROTS figures were $2.00, the 12″ Shaak-Ti were about $9.50, and I got two of the (extended deadline) Early Bird Mail Away Packages for $12.50 each.

If you need some army builders, or are just looking to fill a few holes in your Sith collection, it looks like it might be worth a swing by your local Wal-mart to see if they are running this extra half off sale as well!

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Atari Arcade UPDATE
January 11, 2006 | 7:41 PM EST | Keri

YakReader Tim sent in a great follow-up to the Bounty Hunting article from yesterday which featured a stand-up Atari arcade game machine.

“I wanted to let you know that I was reading about the Star Wars stand up game on the site. I went to the eBay listing to read the description when I discovered that the auction is in Sevierville, TN. Well I live in Jonesborough, TN which is about an hour and half away, which brings me to the point of this email. I have played that game in Sevierville. It is in a arcade at the Ripley’s Old MacDonald’s Farm Mini Golf near Governor’s Crossing. It was in great shape. I too remember playing that game in the Gold Mine, the arcade in the mall in Bristol, VA, and I had to play it for old time sake. I thought you might like to know.”

Thanks for sharing Tim! There’s nothing like playing an arcade game we loved, it’s like getting to hang out and catch up with an old friend.

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Iron-on T-Shirt
January 11, 2006 | 7:23 PM EST | Keri

I just can’t seem to get off of memory lane these days, so what the heck, I’ll just take you all along for the ride with me! I loved the few iron-on t-shirts I had when I was a kid, my favorite being a Princess Leia posing with her blaster, complete with glitter accents, followed by Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman in a close second place. The best part about iron-on t-shirts (besides all the glitter) was the fun of picking them out and having them “made” right before your eyes. The iron-ons were made of a rubbery vinyl material and with the right amount of pressure and heat from an industrial iron press, your t-shirt came to life. The coolest iron-on shop in my mind was at Vikon Village in the Dallas, TX area. I can still remember the iron-on images going from the floor to the ceiling – great stuff!

Today’s featured auction is for, yes you guessed it, a vintage iron-on t-shirt. This shirt is a classic baseball shirt with 3/4 length sleeves, made of a nice soft cotton blend. The iron-on is the best part, it is a Bounty Hunters design complete with all our favorite scum aboard the Executor. Boba Fett, Bossk, IG-88 and Dengar in a classic shot with an amazing glittery border. Factors Inc. held the iron-on license until ROTJ and literally made many different A New Hope and ESB designs. I myself enjoy collecting the iron-ons by themselves and also already printed onto vintage shirts that were never worn. They make a great addition to vintage displays and if you must they are amazing to wear! I do have a few that I do wear and I always seem to get compliments on my awesome shirts!
Click on through to add this to your collection or wardrobe today!

Revenge of Bounty Hunting: Atari Arcade
January 10, 2006 | 1:52 PM EST | Keri

I know I am getting old and therefore nostalgic about my youth, but I have some of the best memories of my neighborhood arcades. They were dark noisy, and yes even dingy but nothing beats getting THE high score on Joust with only one quarter. Next to Joust, my favorite game in the arcade was of course, Star Wars, made by Atari.

Produced in 1983, the game used the state of the art (at the time) Vector graphics to recreate some of the most memorable scenes from A New Hope. The machine was produced in an Upright standing version, and also in a much larger, harder to find sit down cockpit style cabinet. Piloting Luke’s X-Wing, you blasted TIE Fighters to bits and then went on to the trench of the Death Star to face Vader’s TIE, listen to Obi-Wan’s teachings, and hopefully destroy the technological terror of the Death Star. I never was able to destroy the Death Star back in the day, but since I have been able to play the game again, I was able to defeat the Dark Side…I suppose some things get better with age.

The cabinet was completely decorated with bold side art of Vader, X-Wing, TIE’s and the Death Star. No vintage collection is truly complete without this beauty of a game gracing a room. Today’s Ebay auction spotlighted is a working upright specimen, with some obvious wear from play, but is still presentable and easily restored if so desired. Click on through to the link below to add this great gem to your collection today!

Just wanted to drop a quick email to say that Wal*mart has started the post-Xmas markdowns. Picked up 500th Vader for $11. All ROTS figs are $4. Large Unleashed were $11. Looks like everything is getting a 25% discount. The entire toy section of the three Wal*Mart’s I visited are reorganizing their entire toy section, clearing out the old and bringing in the new.

PS. In a disturbing related note, all of the new Saga figs had the holographic figures stolen from the backs of them. Sheesh!

January 5, 2006 | 9:52 PM EST | Bill

Dark Horse Comics has released a new Star Wars 1-shot titled Purge, like the title suggests it focuses on the fate of some of the “loose ends” of the Jedi Order, and Vader’s efforts to— shall we say — tie them up. The description onDark Horse’s site (here) looks interesting to say the least, however beware of potential spoilers.

Gobler Toys?
January 5, 2006 | 9:22 AM EST | Mark B

We all have heard the stories about how in the late 70s, toy execs pitched their lines to George Lucas to obtain the rights to a little known movie production called “Star Wars”. What would it have been like if Mattel had gotten the license instead of Kenner? What if a company like MacFarlane Toys or Sideshow had been around at that time? Well, (even though this is a spoof), our worst nightmares could have been realized if a man by the name of Ira Gobler had been a bit more of a salesman and sold his toy line to George Lucas….. Click here to view the Gobler Toys Star Wars Pitch. I think I might have actually purchased a “Whack the Bantha” if it had been produced!

Star Wars Action News – 1st Episode Of 2006!
January 2, 2006 | 9:46 PM EST | Scott

Arnie and Marjorie at Review Star Wars.com have wasted no time jumping right into 2006 with their latest podcast. Here’s what they have on tap this week…

” 2005 was, without any doubt, the best year for Star Wars in recent history. Last year Star Wars broke into the hearts and minds of people in many countries, young and old. Revenge of the Sith appeased old fans while turning young minds into new fans who will follow Star Wars for years to come. Knowing this, Hasbro, Master Replicas, Code 3, Sideshow Collectables, and many other companies are preparing their Star Wars product lines for 2006, to make sure fans stay happy, excited, and poor for another year.

This week Arnie & Marjorie look at the product releases which have been announced for 2006. From the waves of Hasbro figures to the Wizards of the Coast Miniatures game, and many other lines.

Also, we take a couple minutes to remember the Star Wars talent which had been lost in 2005. We dedicate this podcast to many actors, some of whom we have had the honor in meeting in person and others whose talent has enhanced our entertainment through many years of Star Wars fandom. ”

For all you slot machine fanatics.. this one is awesome..

At a MI casino last night.. yeah that is where I spent New Years.. I stumpled across this awesome slot machine. This was introduced this past year.. you know.. 2005… and let me tell you. If you want to go and just have some fun and not worry about trying to win millions.. I played this game for over 3 hours on a measly $20. When I cashed out I was at $35. Now you might say that is just my luck.. well there were people playing this game for hours on the same amount of money. It is a .01. Check out this

Another Happy New Year
January 1, 2006 | 12:22 PM EST | Mark B

I’ll add to Jayson’s Happy New Year wish below….what a year 2005 was for Star Wars Fans. We got the final installment of the Prequel Trilogy, and most of the questions we have had since 1977 have been answered. Not only have we had the experience in the theaters, we’ve also had a Clone Wars Animated series – and DVD releases of both Seasons AND Episode III. On the collecting front, Hasbro (along with other companies) kept us all busy and hunting with TONS of new merchandise from all 6 movies. Have a happy and bountiful new year…and here’s to another great year!
