The Toyguide updates tonight with the addition of the first in the series of six Order 66 Exclusive Two Packs from Target: Emperor Palpatine and Commander Thire. The Order 66 packs are essentially “off screen” pairings of Jedi or Sith with a corresponding unique deco clone. Commander Thire on the other hand is a decent repack/repaint of the Clone Commander from the Clone Evoutions pack. These sets are warming an endcap at a Target near you for $9.99, hopefully they’ll be hitting the clearance aisle soon.

Obviously, not all the clones pictured above are included, but to be honest it looks better. ; P Check out all the images after the jump.

Star Wars “Laser Tag” at CIV
April 27, 2007 | 8:48 PM EST | Jayson

StarWars.com update tonight with the announcement of Star Wars Laser Tag at Celebration IV in Hall B, over the weekend of May 24-28 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Each session will be approximately 15 minutes of fast-paced fun! After a briefing session, players will each be issued a Rebel “blaster,” and then head into the world of the galaxy far, far . . . OK, not too far away.

In the Rebel Incursion Scenario, players will be assigned to one of two missions. In Mission One, each player will be one of 40 Rebels, assigned to raid an Imperial supply depot. Players must fight several squads of Imperial stormtroopers in order to gain access to the supply depot for the raid. In Mission Two, players and their team of 40 Rebels will have already infiltrated the supply depot, and must try to get to the control room before the group is eliminated by the Imperial stormtroopers guarding the depot.

In the Rebel Training Simulator, players are assigned to a group of 30 Rebel soldiers who will be pitted against another 30 Rebels. In this scenario, the team that ‘eliminates’ the opposing team wins.

Young Rebels itching to join the Rebellion can hone their skills in Young Rebel Training, designed for kids 8-12.

The Making of Star Wars
April 24, 2007 | 2:08 PM EST | Jayson

From StarWars.com:

This week sees the release of The Making of Star Wars, a Del Rey Books release commemorating the 30th anniversary of the original Star Wars. Author and Lucas Books editor J.W. Rinzler has unearthed long lost interviews and conducted extensive research to recreate the period when Star Wars was being made. The book includes includes interviews with George Lucas from before the film was even released, as well as a huge wealth of new material from the Lucasfilm archives that has been literally buried for decades. See never-before-published photos and documents, and hear never-before-revealed anecdotes and insights from cast and crew. Get the full picture of the moviemaking process that created the original film, supplemented by brand new interviews as well.

I picked up the softcover version of this book today over my lunch hour and it doesn’t disappoint. Just when you’ve thought you’ve seen every Star Wars image ever captured, there is a brand new one on the next page. The never before seen photos range from concept art and models to set construction and screen tests. This book is a must buy for any fan and provides excellent resource material for customizers too.

Plus if you look carefully, some of the yet to be revealed McQuarrie Concept Figures could be based from a few of the concept illustrations shown within – namely Han Solo and the possibility of a female version of Luke.

Discuss your thoughts on the new book in our forums.

Thanks for the Memories
April 20, 2007 | 3:12 PM EST | Mark B

Hey everyone, I want to take this opportunity to say goodbye to all of the Yakface readers (but not for good). I have had a great few years here and have made a lot of really good friends in the process. Thanks to Mark for letting me be part of the team here (sometimes more like family!).

However, I have decided to head out on my own. I am launching my own website at www.bobasbounty.com. I invite everyone to stop by and check out the new site (which has a couple of fixes that will be uploaded tonight). I’m having several opening give aways over the next week so bookmark it and keep stopping back.

Again, thanks to everyone who has made my stay at Yakface great!

Star Wars: Death Star
April 18, 2007 | 10:15 PM EST | Jayson

Star Wars.com updates tonight with a sneak peek at a new novel scheduled for release this fall titled simply: Death Star.

The Death Star’s name says it all, with bone-chilling accuracy. It is a virtual world unto itself — equipped with uncanny power for a singularly brutal purpose: to obliterate entire planets in the blink of an eye. Its annihilation of the planet Alderaan lives in infamy. And its own ultimate destruction, at the hands of Luke Skywalker, is the stuff of legend. But what is the whole story, and who are the players, behind the creation of this world-killing satellite of doom?

For more info head to Star Wars.com

Want To Have Lunch With Harrison Ford?
April 18, 2007 | 12:31 PM EST | Scott

Then all you have to do is win this ebay auction currently running now until April 23rd.

That’s absolutely right folks, if you’re the winning bidder, you will get to have a personal one-on-one sit-down style meal with Han Solo / Indiana Jones / Rick Deckard himself.

The funds from the auction will benefit the E.O. Wilson Biodiversity Foundation with which Mr. Ford serves as a member of the Board of Directors.

The organization tackles issues such as Global Warming, Poverty and Conservation. So not only will you get to meet him in person, you’ll be doing something good for the planet.

There’s two catches. One, the auction is currently sitting at $2650.00 and will most certainly go up by auction end and two, there is a pre-qualification process you must complete before you can bid.

Toyguide Update: #13 Death Star Trooper
April 18, 2007 | 8:41 AM EST | Jayson

The Toyguide updates this morning with the addition of the Death Star Trooper(Imperial Soldier). Again, we receive a much needed update to a previously inferior figure dating back to the POTF2/Freeze Frame days. While he does come across as a little tall, as compared to Han or Luke from this wave, but when placed within the OT Imperial Ranks, he blends right in. You never know maybe he was a first draft pick for those Imperial pick-up games of B-Ball.

Check out all the images after the jump.

Rebelscum has posted removed a photo of the upcoming “I Am Your Father” Vader & Luke 2-pack. The Vader appears to be a repack of Throne Room Duelfrom the Saga line and Luke appears to be a repack of Bespin Duel but with a Jabba’s Palace Luke Head.

Toyguide Update: #12 Luke Skywalker (Yavin Ceremony)
April 16, 2007 | 9:21 AM EST | Jayson

The Toyguide updates continue this morning with the addition of Luke Skywalker(Yavin Ceremony). This is the third incarnation of this figure, the 2 previous versions were available way back in the POTF2 days, so this one is a much welcomed, if not flawed improvement. The paint operations on the hair could use a little work they are sloppily applied and also I don’t recall Luke having red hair. Another error this figure has is that he includes Vader’s Lightsaber hilt which continues to annoy me to no end. And to be totally accurate, Luke wasn’t wearing a lightsaber during the Yavin Ceremony anyway. Oh, well.

Check out all the images after the jump.

Toyguide Update: #10 Rebel Honor Guard
April 16, 2007 | 6:47 AM EST | Jayson

The Toyguide updates this morning with the addition of the Rebel Honor Guard. The ranks of our plastic Rebel Alliance expand with the release of this figure. The Rebel Honor Guards were present during the Yavin IV Ceremony flanking the entrance to the Massassi Temple Ceremonial Hall. Think of them as less flashy Emperor’s Royal Guards. ; P. This all new figure has a ton of articulation for a character that just stands there, but it is a huge treat none the less.

Check out all the images after the jump.

UPDATE ALL NEW Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced?
April 11, 2007 | 1:33 PM EST | Jayson

The folks at Rebelscum have posted info that r2dtoys.com has updated their pre-order for the Darth Vader’s TIE Advanced x1 Starfighter to include an attractive boxed shot of this vehicle. Although this might just be a preliminary shot since the box has the call out for “Ejecting Wings”. As I recall, previous releases of this fighter had no such feature.

UPDATE: Upon closer inspection the attachment point from the fuselage to the wings/solar panels appear to be different! And the mold for the fuselage appears to be diferent as well! (Note the view port, center laser cannons & other “greeblies”.) So, it seems we might be getting a significantly updated/upgraded TIE x1. Thanks to Jeff from Jedidefender.com for having the eagle-eye. ; )

Star Wars Action News – Episode 84
April 9, 2007 | 12:20 PM EST | Scott

This week Arnie and Marjorie review an item that’s hard on the tongue but nice on the eyes, the Kotobukiya ARTFX Scout Trooper statue. This was an item Arnie had toyed with keeping or trading off, and he finally opened it up to give it a close look. Did it earn a final place in the Sithsonian?

Also, Arnie and Marjorie reflect back on 1988. Star Wars was 11 years old, and 11 is an awkward age for many things. Adolescence is nearing, youth is behind it. Star Wars endured this awkward period as well, and there was not much to show for it. Sure, behind the scenes Timothy Zahn was preparing to write Heir to the Empire and bring Star Wars back to the mainstream, but to the average person Star Wars was no where to be found…except on the screen of your Amiga or Commodore 64 computer. The Star Wars Action News hosts resurrect a “classic” video game from that period and see if it holds up with age.

Don’t forget, our scavenger hunt contest for the Sideshow Jabba the Hutt and throne has only one week left, the winner will be announced on our next podcast. Don’t let this pass you by, check www.swactionnews.com all the details on how to enter and win!

Download this week’s Star Wars Action News HERE or visitwww.swactionnews.com.

Thank you for listening, and good luck in the contest!

The Ultimate Group Project at Celebration IV
April 8, 2007 | 11:34 PM EST | Justin

Are you a customizer here in our forums, or with our friends at Jedidefender? Or some other Star Wars board? Want to get involved in a fun custom diorama project that will be displayed for all to see at Celebration IV? Then the Ultimate Group Project may be for you!

Inspired by the creative mind of customizer Paul Hruby, a group of customizers from around the community have teamed up to create a customizing project unlike any other – a fan fiction Star Wars WORLD.

As the final days of the project approach, construction is really picking on the project, but there may be something YOU can contribute to this project too if you are an experienced customizer! If you would like information on how you can get involved, or would just like to see some of the fun work created by your fellow fans, check out some of the lastest custom figures and vehicles being created by clicking HERE. A number of buildings have been created for this project too, which you can see many of HERE.

Yakface forum member Jedistyle will also be sending a newsletter to active members on the project, if you would like to receive this newsletter in your email, please let me know at rykrofenloe@yahoo.com, with the subject of the email UGP Newsletter.

Toyguide Update: Treachery on Saleucami Battle Pack
April 8, 2007 | 8:24 AM EST | Jayson

The Toyguide Updates this Easter Sunday with the addition of the Treachery on Saleucami Battle Pack. This set is a welcome departure from the other battle (re)packs as it includes not only 2 “new” figures, but vehicles as well. Here, we finally get a nice SA Commander Neyo and an EU-ish Clone Trooper which is essentially another Neyo but with Clone Commander Macrobinoculars grafted (non-movable or removable) to the Neyo-style helmet. And what Saleucami trooper would be complete without his BARC Speeder, so in this set we are treated to two.

Check out all the images after the jump.

Happy Easter everybody!

UPDATE TRU AT-AT Mark..UP?
April 7, 2007 | 10:02 PM EST | Scott

While this may vary from store to store, I noticed something today that could be frustrating to those of you still on the hunt for the Endor AT-AT.

The good news is they appear to be hitting the shelves with more regularity and in good supply (here in Michigan anyway). The bad news is they have been marked UP from 89.99 to 99.99. All the samples I examined had the 99 dollar price stamped over the old 89 dollar one and they scanned in at 99 bucks.

A strange turn of events to say the least. Here’s hoping this is not a chain wide policy.

UPDATE – I noticed the same thing yesterday at a St. Louis area TRU (Justin).

UPDATE 2 SInce this post, readers have been writing in with similar reports as well. Yak readers Jason and Robb have confirmed the 99 dollar markup at their local TRU’s. And reader Todd is reporting that the Times Square TRU wants $112 for the walker!

Thanks to all who wrote in

Toyguide Update: Darth Vader with TAC Coin Album
April 7, 2007 | 6:57 PM EST | Jayson

The Toyguide Updates this weekend with the addition of the Darth Vader & TAC Coin Album. I finally decided to crack this puppy open and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and functionality of the album. Also included is the #01 Darth Vader figure with coin and for $9.99, it would’ve been a bargain at twice the price.

Check out all the images after the jump.

Happy Easter
April 7, 2007 | 2:23 PM EST | Bill

From all of us at Yakface.com we hope each of you has a great Easter Weekend. We’ve seen lots of work done to use characters from the Galaxy Far, Far Away in Christmas settings, however here’s an amazing piece, placing Star Wars characters into the last summer from Concept Art.org which our friends over a Mousedroid.com spotted.

Toyguide Update: Kubrick – Series 7
April 6, 2007 | 6:03 PM EST | Jayson

The Toyguide updates today with the inclusion of the most recent set, Series 7 to the new Kubrick Section. The basic set includes: Emperor’s Royal Guard,Gamorrean Guard, Lando Calrissian as Skiff Guard, Leia – Boussh Disguise,Scout Trooper and Spirit of Anakin Skywalker.

But that’s not all! Certain figures in the set also have the possibility of containing rare “chase” figures. The chase figures in this series are a non-spirit version of Anakin Skywalker (which I have yet to track down), Republic Senate Guard (the first Prequel Kubrick figure) and last, but certainly not least, our site mascot…Yakface!

Check out all the bricky goodness after the jump.

Get Your Buzz On…Skywalker Style!
April 5, 2007 | 2:41 PM EST | Scott

George Lucas’ pal, a guy you may have heard of named Francis Ford Coppola, set aside a few acres of his vineyard to produce Skywalker Ranch Merlot, also named “Viandante del Cielo”.

The Coppoloa Vineyard website has recently marked down the 2004 Skywalker Ranch Merlot to $36 from the original $45 until 4/9.

So if you’re looking for a truly unique gift for the wine / Star Wars lover in your life, click the bottle above to pick one or more up. It’s better than blue milk.

Remember, there are requlations on alcoholic beverages which prohibit shipping to some states. Make sure your state is OK before ordering.

Yakfinities Update!
April 4, 2007 | 9:48 PM EST | Justin

It’s already April folks, which means a new Yakfinities Customizing Challenge has begun!

Yakface forum members have voted, and this month the winning idea was for customizers to try their hand at making some sort of Janitorial figures. After all, someone’s got to mop up all the levels of the Death Star, right?

Hop on over to the forums by clicking here if you’d like to participate this month. As always, a random entry will win a free figure – this month’s prize is a MOMC Galactic Marine.

Master Replicas and Koto
April 4, 2007 | 8:23 AM EST | Mark

Master Replicas is proud to partner with KOTOBUKIYA to bring more beautifully rendered ARTFX Statues to collectors. This week, we are introducing three more beautifully rendered 1/7 scale ARTFX Statues. These snap-fit kits can be easily put together in seconds without glue or modeling skill – now you can have a hand in assembling some of the best STAR WARS statues ever! Available for pre-order this week are:

Boba Fett Episode V ARTFX Statue
Despite limited screen time, Boba Fett – the nefarious bounty hunter hired by both Jabba the Hutt and the Empire to track down Han Solo – remains one of the most popular characters in the entire Star Wars universe. Trained in the ways of the Mandalorians by his father Jango Fett, this bounty hunter is feared and dreaded throughout the galaxy, known for his subtle and cunning moves for locating and capturing his prey. Now, KOTOBUKIYA captures Boba Fett – with the fantastic craftsmanship and attention to detail lavished upon this 1/7 scale pre-painted soft vinyl model kit. Standing nearly 13 inches tall, this vinyl statue is among the coolest Star Wars collectibles available!

C-3PO & R2-D2 ARTFX Statue
You overweight glob of grease! Everybody gets in a fight some time, even interstellar pals like R2-D2 and C-3PO! Featuring two of the most beloved characters in the entire Star Wars saga, this collectible celebrates the pair at their best…and worst! Requiring only minor assembly, this amazing 1/7 scale statue is pre-painted and packaged in a nifty window box, and assembles in mere minutes after being opened! Snap an arm into place, push the feet in the base, and you’ve just had a hand in making the best Star Wars statues ever!

Commander Bly Episode III ARTFX Statue
Marshal Commander Bly was one of the first generation of commanders trained by ARC trooper Alpha, and led the 327th Star Corps on many tours throughout the galaxy. One of the most heart-wrenching moments in the Star Wars saga comes in Episode III Revenge of the Sith, on the colorful world of Felucia when Bly, demonstrating his unerring loyalty to the Republic, raises his weapon and opens fire on Jedi General Aayla Secura after receiving order 66 from the Supreme Chancellor. This beautifully sculpted 1/7 scale pre-painted soft vinyl model kit from KOTOBUKIYA captures that moment, with all of the distinctive battle damage to Bly’s armor included. Also included are a custom base featuring the mutilated body of a super battle droid, and two interchangeable helmets, allowing for display with or without a targeting visor.

$99.99 for Boba Fett
$99.99 for Commander Bly
$149.00 for C-3PO & R2-D2

Signage is starting to hit US Post Offices about the new Star Wars Stamps. Mine just got them in this morning (including an R2D2 and C3PO standup). However, not all postal employees even know about the R2 mailboxes, so don’t be surprised if they know if or where there is one in your town.
