Ponda Baba, simply known as Walrus Man to many, was an ill-tempered, thuggish Aqualish pirate and the partner of Dr. Evazan. His appearance in Star Wars: A New Hope was short but memorable. Standing at the bar in the Mos Eisley Cantina, Ponda Baba tried to pick a fight with the wrong farm boy. Unable to get a rise out of the young Luke Skywalker with mere taunts, Baba decided to escalate things by pulling his holdout blaster on the future Jedi Master, and quickly had his arm severed by Obi Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber for doing so.

In a well-known blooper, Ponda Baba’s arm has fin-like hands when still attached, but is furry and clawed in the close-up shots of the severed arm on the floor.
