Toyguide Update: TBS #27 Jabba’s Skiff Guard

TBS27 _preview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with our next entry in the The Black Series 3-3/4″ line. Today, we take a look at Jabba’s Skiff Guard (#27).

PROS: Sgt. Doallyn. Brock Starsher. Jabba’s Skiff Guard #3 on the left. Whatever you call him, this figure is pretty much what we’ve been waiting for since he started popping up on fan wishlists. It features all the articulation collectors require and as decent, if not passable, amount of detailing in the outfit. He’s great for scene filler in any diorama where you’d need a bounty hunter, thug, palace or cantina patron.

CONS: For a figure with sparse paint apps, you’d think they could tighten up the tolerances a little bit as the copper stripes that run on the chest are a tad careless. The head is a smudge under scaled and I’m not sure that shade of yellow was the best choice for the neck post, but who knows what his skin looks like underneath that ensemble he’s wearing – neither nitpicks are a deal breaker. Hasbro (again) cheaped out on the paint apps for the weapons which just feel flat and rubbery especially the blaster. Finally, the black paint on the boots was applied too thin in spots, so the white plastic shows through in areas. Your individual experience may vary of course.
