HOLY CRAP! I just got a promo email about this from Twelfth Parsec, and they say:

If this new product sells well we will be bringing you Side 2 in early 2017 !

There could be a second version! That’s freakin’ awesome! Everybody needs to order one.

  • RumSleg

If a small company can do this for $165, shouldn’t a big company like Hasbro be able to take advantage of scale and efficiencies and do it for even less? Do they not do so because they don’t think there’s a big enough market for a playset like this at $150?

If Hasbro did this, packaged with two cool but generic figures (a Stormtrooper and a headswapped Death Start Trooper or Gunner), wouldn’t people go nuts for this?

  • RumSleg

I would without hesitation pay $165 for this over $299 for the AT-ACT.

  • Stereotypical Evil Archer

Thanks for letting us know. Space Base just made a huge dent in my Rogue One budget. Hopefully they make a view screen room some day. And a trash compactor. And a window gun station. And a turbo laser tower. And whatever new rooms and Bacta tanks and closets and lavatories that Rogue One shows us.

    • Dave

The interesting thing is they only show us one side of the display so technically they could complete a second “half” on the other side and you would have a Death Star playset in-the-round similar to the Palitoy cardboard set.

      • Rykrof_Enloe

I agree – could easily have a back side area too to make this really something stellar.

Now, I’m not 100% in favor of the circular shape, but I really do love the fact that this is modular! And it’s quite sad that Hasbro hasn’t made ANYTHING at all.

I’m not sure if I am a buyer though, just for one reason… I already have two large custom Death Stars that I am very happy with from the man, the legend, Owen Driscoll.

But, if my son still shows interest in this in a couple weeks, I will go ahead and order him one.

        • Dave

They could definitely add more modular sections: Trash Compactor, Tarkin’s view screen room, gunner station, hanger blast doors… I always wished they’d made a plastic version of the Palitoy set in the round because it feels more like a Death Star than the original Kenner playset.

I’d be really interested in seeing pics of your custom Death Star.

  • Chris Stith

    Do these come pre-painted?

    • Rykrof_Enloe

Yes they are printed in color plastic, no painting is required.

      • Chris Stith

Thank you. That makes it an even better deal.

  • I snatched up the Control and Conference Rooms. The other displays were already well represented in my collection so I couldn’t justify buying the entire piece, but I’m so happy these were modular and we’re still able to suit my needs. If I had the space to display the larger piece, I may have just pulled the trigger and bought the whole station.

  • Darth Janus

Awesome. I especially love the control room. Looks just like the set in that space movie.

  • Jim Decke

Looks awesome, unfortunately so did the last thing that I ordered from Twelfth Parsec and it was very cheaply made, the pieces didn’t fit together, and the Twelfth Parsec representative accused me of lying about it.

    • Rykrof_Enloe

      Which item?

      • Jim Decke

        The cantina alcoves.

        • Steve Harrington

I have to disagree their cantina alcoves are amazing! I have the electronic one and a regular one, they both are better than anything hasbro has ever made. My son plays with the regular one and it holds up perfectly fine. The space trees are fantastic as well I have been more than satisfied with all the items I received from them.

          • Jim Decke

Glad yours turned out well. Mine did not.

        • Rykrof_Enloe

Sorry to hear that. I’d be interested in seeing a pic of the issue. My cantina alcoves I ordered have no problems…

          • Jim Decke

Glad to hear that yours turned out well. I had several pictures that I sent to 12th Parsec but it has been months since the incident so I don’t have them anymore.

  • RumDumb

    THAT is amazing!!

  • 80sRobot

They could make another add-on for this: A large docking bay that goes under it.

  • Rivesjunctionite

By the way, if you order one in the US, the 10% off code almost covers the $17.99 shipping.
Go ahead. Ask me how I found this out. 🙂

  • $165 for a intricate modular Death Star. $300 for substandard under decorated AT-ACT (that requires a smart phone to operate). Hmmm. Where should I spend my money?

    • It doesn’t require a smart phone. There are buttons to control the functionality built into the Walker itself.

      • Rivesjunctionite

Nevertheless, the point is well taken. I didn’t think twice about ordering this space station, but I’m not eager to drop $300 on what is basically my fifth AT-AT.

      • But that is one of Hasbro’s selling point nonetheless. You know, gets the kids hooked on the electronics rather than the real play value. Give a “reason” for the parents to shell out $300.

  • Rivesjunctionite

On second thought, this really needs a giant NERF gun.

  • Rykrof_Enloe

My son just told me what he wants for Christmas after seeing this!

    • Rivesjunctionite

      Your son is wise.

    • General Hux

      You have raised him well.

  • Rivesjunctionite

Thanks a lot, guys. Now I’m hyperventilating! HOLY COW!!!

I was wondering if there would be a followup to the desert cafe. And this did not disappoint!

  • Paulskywalker

It comes to something when it is up to a cottage industry business to make a Death Star playset. When Hasbro said there wouldn’t be one last week, i was reminded of a few years when they said to make DS playset they’d need a movie to back it. Well we get a movie where the Death Star is the premise and still no playset….
