Hasbro today has announced a new 6″ scale figures dubbed Star Wars “The Black Series”.
After 35 years of fantastic plastic standing tall in pop culture at 3¾ inches, Hasbro is releasing the Star Wars Black Series this year, beginning a new set of 6-inch figures that will feature more articulation and an increased attention to detail.
Priced at $19.99 each, eight figures are planned for 2013 — Hasbro will primarily draw characters from the original Star Wars trilogy of films while also bringing in key players from the prequels.

Hothbricks has posted images of the upcoming Jek-14’s Stealth Starfighter and AT-TE sets from LEGO. The Stealth Starfighter is a set based on the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles mini series on Cartoon Network. It includes a Jek-14, Separatist Bounty Hunter, Special Forces Clone Trooper and R4-G0. The new AT-TE includes Mace Windu Coleman Trebor, Clone Trooper Gunner and 2 Battle Droids.
OriginalFake has released info announcing their final Star Wars KAWS figure: Boba Fett! This figure joins their previously released Darth Vader and Stormtrooper figures and features 8 points of articulation including swivel neck, shoulders, wrist, ankles and posable rangefinder. This figure does come at a price at 18,900¥ ($208.00 US) but it is currently commanding $890.00-$1229.00 on eBay. Deadline.com has posted an exclusive rumor/report stating that due to the lackluster reception of Episode I in 3D there will no further prequel 3D releases and instead focus their resources on production of the sequel trilogy. Again, this is an unconfirmed rumor at this point so stay tuned for further developments…
Update:StarWars.com confirms that further 3D releases are postponed.
After a brief delay, the LEGO Star Wars Umbaran MHC (Mobile Heavy Cannon) has started showing up at stores. For some reason this set took a little longer to hit shelves (here in Minnesota anyway), but I managed to find this set at Target yesterday for $49.99. Click the image above for a closer look.
Our friends at Jedi Temple Archives have posted word that Jakks Pacific have acquired the rights to sell Star Wars products and one of their first offerings is a Giant Size Darth Vader. These extra large figures are 31″ tall, feature multiple points of articulation with incredible detail and sculpt. You may recall their Batman figure from The Dark Knight Rises last year.
