Target Exclusives Update

Yakface Reader Steven writes in with a follow-up to our previous report on the possibility of a limit of 2 per customer on the Hoth Box Sets:

Hey, I’m a Target employee and thought I’d give you the 411 on exclusives here at the store in TN I work at. The 2 per customer rule is kind of a generic rule for all extremely collectible toys, and to be quite honest, unless it was like the Zu Zu Pets were last Christmas, 99.9% of the cashiers really don’t care. As long as you don’t come through with ten of the same thing, you should be cool. Anyway, I’ve been reading for a long time, and it’s always good to see new info on the site!

Good to know – thanks for the news Steven!

VC19 Clone Commander Cody

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Clone Commander Cody, the final figure from from the Vintage Collection’s Revenge of the Sith wave.

PROS: The 2009 version’s belt snafu has been fixed as well as the paint detail on the antenna, making this the ultimate Commander Cody. Looks fantastic on the Vintage cardback.

CONS: Jetpack falls off with the slightest touch.

Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this figure is worth adding to your collection (again).

VC18 MagnaGuard

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of the MagnaGuard from the Vintage Collection.

PROS: The definitive mangaguard. Awesome use of articulation and incorporation of soft goods. The deco is top notch as is the new electrostaff.

CONS: None really, other than once you buy one, you’ll want another, and another and another and….

Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this figure is worth adding to your collection.

Sandtrooper Card Variant

Yakface reader “Shabby Blue” writes in with a very interesting find regarding a new variant surrounding the Vintage Collection Sandtrooper.

There appears to be a running change for the photo on the vintage Sandtrooper card. The original photo was more blurry with its colors faded, but the new version is sharper with deeper colors. It’s most noticable with the deeper blue sky and the sharper whiter looking sandtrooper in the photo. This new “blue sky” version has a newer date stamp on the back of the card, confirming that its the 2nd version with the faded card being the original. It’s also not a one-time factory error because I just saw a 2nd one at Walmart yesterday after finding the first at TRU earlier in the week. I’ve attached a few hi-res photos showing the difference. The new “blue sky” version is on the left and the old faded version is on the right.

Very cool Shabby Blue – thanks for the heads up!
