Sandtrooper Card Variant
Yakface reader “Shabby Blue” writes in with a very interesting find regarding a new variant surrounding the Vintage Collection Sandtrooper.
There appears to be a running change for the photo on the vintage Sandtrooper card. The original photo was more blurry with its colors faded, but the new version is sharper with deeper colors. It’s most noticable with the deeper blue sky and the sharper whiter looking sandtrooper in the photo. This new “blue sky” version has a newer date stamp on the back of the card, confirming that its the 2nd version with the faded card being the original. It’s also not a one-time factory error because I just saw a 2nd one at Walmart yesterday after finding the first at TRU earlier in the week. I’ve attached a few hi-res photos showing the difference. The new “blue sky” version is on the left and the old faded version is on the right.
Very cool Shabby Blue – thanks for the heads up!

VC17 General Grievous
The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with addition of General Grievous from the Vintage Collection.
PROS: Nice upgrade to the prior TLC BD25 version, the cape is great addition as is the revised deco. Well accessorized too.
CONS: The mold is very rubbery, making prolonged posing a delicate/frustrating balancing act. No foot peg holes in the feet to accept a display stand. New articulated hands pop off very easily.
Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this figure is worth adding to your collection.
New AOTC Wave Images at Sandtroopers
Our friends at Sandtroopers have again come through with additional images for the Attack of the Clone wave, this time featuring carded and loose shots of Mace Windu, Senate Guard and the Super Battle Droid. March on over for a closer look.
VC16 Obi-Wan Kenobi
The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with addition of Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Vintage Collection.
PROS: Although we’ve been inundated with this figure sculpt for 5 years, it is still a solid mold without being overtly outdated. Nice likeness and well accessorized.
CONS: A better figure is available in the 2010 Saga Legends line for $1 cheaper. The knee joints suffer from “ostrich syndrome” and the ankles are distracting with the contrasting joint inserts.
Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this figure is worth adding to your collection.
New Target DPCIs
