Episode 396: Orange, Black, and Silver
The 3.75-inch Black Series is looming and new packaged shots are being released of the first wave of figures with Padme, Biggs, Luke, Vader, and more. But despite the eagerness of Star Wars collectors for new figures, fans are having a mixed reaction to the new packaging for these figures. On this week’s Star Wars Action News podcast hosts Marjorie and Arnie are joined by their Marvelicious Toys co-host Justin, a graphic designer and packaging expert, to examine Hasbro’s latest Star Wars designs.
Also on this week’s show, Johnathan updates us what’s in stores and online, Steve the Gingerprince reports from Collectormania, and Arnie and Marjorie celebrate a new Ewok LEGO set. All that and more on this week’s Star Wars Action News podcast!
Plus on this week’s show is an update on Third Annual SDCC Star Wars Fan Breakfast! On Friday, July 19th, at 7:30 a.m. come to the Edgewater Grill at Seaport Village to talk Star Wars with friends! It’s walking distance from the convention center, and prizes will be given away from sponsors Hallmark, Uncle Milton, Diamond Select Toys, Kotobukiya, Random House Audio, and more! Update: Black Series Limited Availability?
Fans have already been skeptical about the upcoming Black Series due to the uninspired assortment of figures we’ve seen so far.
And now, our friends at Jedi Temple Archives are reporting some potentially disturbing news with the future of the Black Series. Nothing is confirmed yet, but it appears that retail-wise, Hasbro may only be distributing these figures to North America. Click here to read what they have uncovered. We are keeping our fingers crossed for our overseas friends that this is not the case.
EDIT: Enhance your calm everyone. Preview (Diamand Comic) will only be selling these to their existing accounts that reside US/Canada. Any other accounts will have to find other means of order fullfillment for these lines. – Jayson
