Toyguide Update: Disney Parks Droid Factory Rogue One Astromech Set

ro_droidfactory_astromechs

The Yakface Toyguide updates continue, shifting to the Disney Parks exclusive Droid Factory Rogue One Astromech Set.

PROS:  Astromech collectors/fans have had a lot of reason to rejoice over the last few months as there have been several droid offerings, in different scales,  from the different licensees this year. This set is solely dedicated to the droids of Rogue One, and while we don’t know anything about how they play into the overall story, it’s great to get a complement of droid to bolster the ranks of the 3.75″ scale. These droids utilize the proprietary build-a-droid sculpt from Disney Parks’ continuing Droid Factory program meaning that all of the parts from each droid are cross-compatible.  Decos for the most part are excellent and really stand apart from one another.

CONS: None really to speak of other than a few paint masks that didn’t quite hit their mark on a few of the droids. It would’ve also been great to get a bit of backstory for each of the droid to know what factions they line up with and to whom they may belong.

Toyguide Update: Disney Infinity Darth Vader

It looks like we’re not the only ones who are fans of these figures as Rebelscum has started their own series of Photo Archive updates the week for the Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars line.

We launch our own run of updates, working backward, starting with the recent “Rise of the Empire” release figure: Darth Vader. Look for additional characters to be added to our toyguide all weekend long.

Toyguide Update: 2015 Convention Exclusive General McQuarrie Mini Bust

TG_preview_gen_mcquarrieMB

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today as we take a look at the 2015 Convention Exclusive General McQuarrie Mini Bust from Gentle Giant.

PROS: Anything that results in more tributes to the iconic Ralph McQuarrie is okay by me, but it does come at at price. The overall sculpt and paint are good with crisp details especially on the jacket and (non-removable) cap. For fans of Ralph McQuarrie and the Original Trilogy, this should be a welcome addition to your mini bust display.

CONS: The prices for Gentle Giant bust have steadily crept up over the last few years and this one falls victim to that trend as well. It is an exclusive, and it is McQuarrie, but $120.00 is pretty steep for this non-deluxe bust.
