Rumor Report: The Last Jedi Playset

Upon doing some investigating on a publicly accessible site, I managed to find newly published details for a possible Hasbro 3.75″ Force Link compatible Playset for The Last Jedi. Click on through for some of the details.

The “Mega” Playset:
• 2-in-1 Feature – converts from BB-8 to First Order star destroyer  (interior)
• “Force Link” compatible
• Includes Throne/Trash Compactor (really?)/Garrison Corridor

The Pack-Ins:
• Snoke figure (Force Link compatible)
• Praetorian Guard figure (Force Link compatible)
• Force Link bracelet/gauntlet

If you find the site, you will also find confirmation of our wave breakdown for Force Friday II as well.

  • CT-7567

Sounds like it could be neat, but also expensive. Especially with the included Force Link device. Do we have any idea what the Force Link starter set will cost? I want the figures, though. Could this be this year’s expensive item? Like the TFA Falcon and AT-ACT?

    • SID

Its gunna be TPM all over again. They should change the line to CLEARANCE WARZ

      • CT-7567

You’re probably right, but at least they seem to have gotten rid of nerf. I actually like the Resistance speeder vehicle. Still, the prices are still too high on vehicles. For RO I waited for clearance for the vehicles. I got two U-wings and two TIEs. That would’ve been $180 in September, which is just ridiculous. A few months later I paid $80 for all four. The TIE Striker is a vehicle that I actually like and I felt like I got my money’s worth for $20. The new speeder looks like something we used to get as class II for $25. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/d28b5fa8cf3345d03049496b2717abc6de62417f564ae4b14e78c7cdf603d99d.jpg

        • Stereotypical Evil Archer

When did pics of this leak? Are there pics of other products?

        • SID

Yeah that speeder is sorta neat. Atleast it looks “more SW” then most of the new stuff. Not that the design even makes a lick of sense. Landspeeder b-wing? Lol

I hear ya on the $$$ of vehicles its insane. All these stupid gimmicks too when all we really need is just a well tooled plastic shell (if nothing else). I still have not gotten any of the RO nerf ships even after seeing them $14-$17 bucks. Tooo many out there so I’m sure I’ll get one for “nothing” before force Friday.

          • Stereotypical Evil Archer

The Tie Striker is really cool, especially if you unscrew the Nerf part before assembly. It also sits on a shelf better.

          • Hazzbro Jonez

i was thinking of picking one up. my target has a whole section of unsold strikers and u-wings where the pool stuff/roller blades are. its pretty funny . im gonna get one and take of the nerf part like you said. i figured it was permanently attached

          • Stereotypical Evil Archer

You have to unscrew the Nerf part before you snap on the bottom.

          • CT-7567

            Agreed. Definitely worth $20.

          • magnum676

The design is actually an old Corsair Fighter plane, look at the bent wings, the cut the cockpit off, stuck it on the side… look at attached pic… https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/976d2f7334571855f6530ad3f46b65a06206c5a8480edb66a663f7fc3ae8fe82.jpg

          • CT-7567

            I love that plane.

        • Rykrof_Enloe

I love the look of that vehicle. I am thinking $30

        • Bombadgungan

I agree, the mid to large size vehicle prices were ridiculous for TFA and found a new crazy for RO. TRU was selling the U-Wing for $60! The Class I and Class I Deluxe seemed reasonable.

I waited for clearance on the U-Wing and TIE Striker as well. I know it is not the best thing for the line, but I really wasn’t doing it so much out of protest as just not feeling these were vehicles I absolutely needed in my already overgrown collection. Once prices dropped to $20 though, I couldn’t help myself.

That TLJ Resistance Ski Speeder does look great doesn’t it?

    • SID

I remember wanting to love that set. But the Droid was way too small and it couldn’t hold any figures in place lol. I got mine during the clearance for $5

      • CT-7567

I really wish they’d make collector cases again.

        • SID

Naaaa no one wants to buy a Vader case (or 3-po) they are toooo retro and well designed. Besides I’m happy with the 1983 Vader case I found last month at Savers for $3 still had all holders with stickers intact and a bonus Hammerhead figure. Lol retail is funny.

    • Paulskywalker

Actually liked that. Even though it was just a sticker, floor and door it was accurate to the movie.

    • Bombadgungan

How is it I have no recollection of this?

  • Rykrof_Enloe

I’m excited obviously, but with how Hasbro has to overthink things like this, I’m not expecting it to be something that I’ll really be all that interested in.

So, given Hasbro’s track record, I’m going into this with low expectations, so maybe I’ll end up being surprised. I’d be much more optimistic if this was looking to be part of a collector geared item (even as a kid I would!).

The fact that it transforms like a TMNT playset scares me. I don’t want a playset that has exterior walls that look like a candy corn yogurt pop.

The old micro playsets from the early 1980s would be awesome upscaled… until then, I’ll probably stick with GTP-Toys space walls

    • CT-7567

I love that line. I still have mine. Most in great condition. I only need the TIE Fighter and Snowspeeder. The Micro Collection was way ahead of it’s time. Look at the popularity of Micro Machines only a decade later.

    • Faust

My very first Star Wars toy was from this line. It was the Bespin playset where Luke and Vader dueled, and I loved it

  • Mark

Test report huh? Very smart Jayson. Very smart.

  • Vincent Mercier

The Force is with Hasbro Far East.

  • Jeremy Munnerlyn
    • Vincent Mercier

      No.

    • Boba Fettuccini

      What even is that?

      • Tom P.

It’s a playset Takara Tomy made for their Metal Collection figures.

      • CT-7567

It’s actually a pretty neat set for the little die-cast figures they sell over in Japan. The figures are limited in articulation but really are just meant to display. They’re cheap($5 US) and sold at places like convenience stores. If they sold something like that here I’d probably collect them. The playset foods up into a spherical Death Star and is about $50 US in Japan. The figures are die-cast and are 3″ in height. They’re sold in boxes along with vehicles similar to Hot Wheels or Titanium ships. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/c856f3b3bc1728ad930a89e112caa878afb33bc2a09ecd7a7b2f64653011c772.png

        • Tom P.

The droids in the series are really cool. While smaller than Hasbro Droids, I was able to finally get an R2-Q5 for my collection. As well as a nice quality BB-8. I’m hoping the new BB-9E makes it into the series.

  • ronstoneygold

Hey Jayson, off-topic but are you going to the big Italian sports car show in downtown St. Paul tonight?

  • CJ

Is this the “Smart Delta” thing? For 170 Euros, it would fit. Is Delta BB-8?

    • No

      • CT-7567

Could smart Delta be the FO Walker?

        • No

          • CT-7567

Interesting. Do you already know what it is? I know you can’t say of you do..

  • ronstoneygold

I’ve seen pictures of this BB-8 playset somewhere before. Like more than 2 months ago.

    • Tom P.

There’s also the Galactic Heroes BB-8 transforming playset.

      • I don’t think they produced it. This is something different

      • ronstoneygold

OHH, that’s what it was. Neverrrrrminnnndd.

  • Tom P.

Does the figure wave breakdown include the actual names or still just the product codes?

  • Theater Geek

Don’t like the micro machines approach at all. What is the purpose of making a transforming playset?

    • Fluke Skycrawler

Storage purposes which would also make it easier for kids to carry to a friend’s house

      • Boba Fettuccini

Or to store under a bed in small bedroom shared with a sibling

  • RumSleg

A BB-8 that transforms into a playset sounds less cool than an actual playset (that doesn’t sacrifice form or function for the sake of transformation) but I’m intrigued nonetheless.

    • CT-7567

Agreed. TFA and RO were the only SW films to not have a beast assortment and at least one playset. I’d much rather see something like the Geonosis Arena, with separate additions sold as deluxe figures.

  • Hazzbro Jonez

i found the site maybe? im not good with codes. is it a lot of results to search through? im coming up empty

  • I HOPE THE GIANT BB8 IN THE LAST JEDI IS ON THE RESISTANCE’S SIDE!!!!!!

  • ronstoneygold

    FCC

  • Tom P.

I’m guessing the bold letters in the first paragraph are the name of the site?

  • Paulskywalker

Wait, what.. Is Hasbro feeling ok? TVC coming back, collector vehicles and great figures. Now this! Maybe I’ve slipped into a parallel universe?

    • Jawa_Fetish

I imagine this being a similar “playset” like the Falcon with the TFA line of figures. We’ll see.

      • Paulskywalker

Ah never thought about the TFA falcon. If it’s like that damn! Hopefully Hasbro took the hint about it clearancing and put effort into this.

      • Bombadgungan

That’s what I was imagining. A cross between that and a suoer-sized MicroMachines fold-out playset. Not anything I’m excited about.

  • Tom P.

Hmm, sounds like it could be cool. Kind of like the old R2 carrying case Playset? Hopefully not the only way to get Snoke and the Praetorian though.

    • Bombadgungan

I’m with you. I don’t think that would be well received if Snoke and the Praetorian were exclusive to this likely expensive playset.

  • Dan-O Florez

Yessssss! More playsets please! It sounds like a giant Micro Machines transforming set but for 3.75″ figs
