rogue_12 reports: “I was informed by a Toys R Us employee that they are getting the AAT in this weekend!!! A limited number of stores in each district are receiving them.”
This new vehicle should be available at more stores in the near future too. There is a possibility that more could arrive tomorrow, or even Monday, just in time for the video release.

Update: Space Pirate found a Tank at a TRU store in Cincinnati, Ohio today, so these are around now!

HASBRO UPDATE
03.31.00 | 6:15pm EST | posted by Tarpals

Hasbro have updated their site with some new information. Nothing new really, but at least they’re trying to keep the site up to date. They mention the upcoming Carbon Freeze playset will be a Fan Club exclusive, and emphasize the fact that the Toy Fair cards were mock ups, and not finished cards. Nothing on R2-D2 with Holo Leia in this update. It is worth reading, so head over and take a look. Thanks to Scott for the news.

JAPANESE C-3PO PROMO
03.30.00 | 2:10pm EST | posted by Tarpals

I just received this awesome promotional item in the mail. It’s an electronic C-3PO bottle topper – and as you might have guessed, it’s one of those great Japanese Pepsi promos. I understand this one was an instant win item, and it coincides with the release of new cans and bottles bearing C-3PO’s face towards the end of last year over in Japan. The cap is sized so that it fits over a standard 500ml bottle, and it features movable arms and electronic sound. It plays the Star Wars theme tune when you press the button on his back (and the quality of sound is excellent – 20 times better than Commtech). Best of all, it comes packaged inside a great window box. It features a front flap with a small window on it, and then it is open inside so you can touch the toy. It is positioned in the box on top of a dummy bottle, which contains a print of the bottle label. It’s very similar to earlier POTF2 12″ boxes, in that it also features a character bio on the inside of the front flap. The box back shows all 40 Japanese bottle caps, the 12 instant win special caps, the display stage and the R2-D2 can holder.

UK VIDEO RELEASE NEWS
03.30.00 | 2:10pm EST | posted by Tarpals

Some news on the UK video release, which of course takes place a day earlier than in the States. Jer wrote in to say that Dave Prowse (Darth Vader) will be making an appearace at Choices video shop in St Ives, Cambridgeshire on April 3rd at 11:30pm to mark the sale of TPM. The shop is running a E1,E4-6 costume competition and the prizes sound pretty decent – plus the chance to get stuff signed by the Green Cross Code man himself! I have found that quite a few stores around the country are running costume competitions, so have a look around this weekend to see what’s going on. I also understand that Ray Park (Darth Maul) will be present at the launch at the Oxford Street HMV store in London.

On a side note, the Big Breakfast TV show will be doing something to mark the launch on Monday, and Jer has been asked to appear on the show, along with other fans, as “Star Wars Obsessives”. Might be worth watching!

KB MARK UP AGAIN!
03.30.00 | 1:00pm EST | posted by Tarpals

Danny sent in this news. Seems that where other stores mark down prices, KB are going up!

AT-AT or ELCTRONIC X-WING
(2 weeks ago was 19.99)
(1 week ago was 24.99)
(This weeks new price 29.99)

CINEMA SCENE asst.
(was 4.99)
(new price 5.99)

coming soon to most K*B stores: ELECTRONIC MILLENNIUM FALCON
(2 weeks ago was 54.99)
(1 week ago was 24.99)
(This weeks new price 29.99)

Oh well. I suppose these are still good prices, just not as great as they’ve been recently.

Update: Nick bought a Final Jedi Duel cinema scene for $5.99 recently, and the next day the price was $6.99. Maybe the cinema scenes have risen an extra $1 above the price I mentioned earlier.

Update 2: Doug sent in this: “I’ve been told by employees (one of them a manager) at 2 different KB toy stores in the North Virginia region that we should all hold onto our receipts, because the prices will go down again. I guess they hope to pull all the money they can out of the early-birds and then sell the leftovers cheap. But some very helpful employees said that if we bring in the receipts, they will refund the difference. This goes for $24.99 AT-ATs all the way down to the $2.97 action figures. Keep your eyes open for lower price stickers or newspaper inserts and don’t be afraid to chat up the hired help, especially the managers. While they didn’t say WHEN the prices would drop, I would suspect very soon, probably starting on a Sunday.”

TRU FALCONS
03.29.00 | 1:10pm EST | posted by Tarpals

Justin sent in this great news:

“I went into my local TRU (Minnetonka, MN) yesterday and they ahd signs up and down the action figure aisle stating that a large shipment of falcons would be coming in at $19.99 a piece. The sign also stated that a waiting list for falcons had been started at the service desk. This morning, I received a call stating that the 2 falcons I wanted were in. When I got to the store, the employees were setting up a huge Falcon floor display out of all the falcons they got it. There were 20+ cases (x4 = 80 Falcons) available, so if people missed out on the website, it looks like stores will be getting a lot of them. I missed out on getting any low priced AT-AT’s, so I would be willing to pick one of these up for anyone who could get me an AT-AT.”
If you think you have a spare AT-AT you’d trade, contact Justin here.

Sad to say that if you ordered this item yesterday, it’s not going to get to you. Sorry to those who ordered, but they never had the item in stock.

“I just contacted TRU at 888-869-7932 to ask about my Falcon order. They told me that it will not be filled because they only had 20 of them and they didn’t think it would be that popular”

Might be worth a call to check this out…

Update: Oh oh, here come more. This is from Jeff Richards:
“I ordered the Falcon and some figures from TRU.com, unfortunately some weren’t shipped although listed in stock. I called to complain and was informed that their in stock information does not correspond to a physical number of items in stock. THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY HAVE. This is load of total rubbish and not good business (I was charged a bundle for shipping and DIDN’T even get what I wanted). In addition, they charge sales tax from out of state when they shouldn’t. I will not order from TRU.com again.” If you want to make a complaint, you can call the number Abel sent, or write to: Toysrus.com, 155 Tice Blvd., Woodcliff Lake, NJ 07675.

AT-AT @ TRU.COM
03.27.00 | 4:05pm EST | posted by Tarpals

This info is from Lee H:

“TRU.com has the AT-AT in stock right now for only $19.97. This is a great deal for those who missed them at TRU stores. Search for at-at or 631434 to find it. 631434 is the item# of the AT-AT and also the SKN number at TRU stores for the AT-AT, so if you go to a TRU store ask the employee to look up SKN#631434 in the computer and he’ll be able to tell if they have any AT-ATs”

Update: This item sold out very quickly. Thanks to all those who wrote in to mention it was in stock, and those who reported it was gone. Please note for the future, since I had a LOT of mail about this – if something has been posted like this, you search for it, and the search finds no items, that is because the item is sold out. When TRU.com sell out of an item, it is automatically removed from their site, so you can’t find it with an “out of stock” notice on it. It simply vanishes.

8. $5 off any Lucas Learning software title

9. Buy the book “Star Wars: Rogue Planet”, and get the book “The Making of Episode I: The Phantom Menace” for $7.99

10. Buy any 3 Star Wars: Jedi Apprentice books, and get a free copy of “Star Wars: Jedi Apprentice #8”

11. $5 cash back when you purchase over $29/$39 (U.S./Canada) worth of Star Wars Lego products

12. $3 rebate with purchase of Pepsi and Tostitos products.

Well, that’s it. Some pretty good deals to be had there, to be sure. Interesting that the book has coupons for the Jabba beast pack and 12″ Electronic C-3PO toys, which have barely shown up at retail so far. Also, with some things like the Opee and Kaadu already under $5 at some stores, a $5 coupon means you could possibly pick those up for free. The Power Fighters, for those who don’t know what they are, are (I think they’re) 12″ non-articulated figures with an LCD game/display in their chest. I don’t believe these have hit retail yet, but there are some similar wrestling characters that have been out for a while. The Lego coupon also shows a few things, like the X-Wing Collector’s Set and the AAT, which aren’t out yet. They say the AAT should be out in May, and the X-Wing should be out in June or July.”

CINEMA SCENES
03.25.00 | 12:00pm EST | posted by Tarpals

I mentioned a while ago that Hasbro had confirmed that the cinema scenes were indeed finished. Well, HunterESB asked Andy @ Hasbro, and got this:

Q: Will there be more Movie Scene 3pks this year?

A: “There are no current plans for any more Movie Scene 3 packs this year; we would love to create new ones (and have some great ideas for them), but unfortunately the current state at retail just does not warrant it. We will monitor the situation closely, and could potentially develop new cinema scenes for Episode 2 and/or Episodes 4-6 in the near future.”

So, perhaps we will see cinema scenes return in the future, but they’re certainly gone for now.

Patrick, an employee at a TRU store in Springdale, Ohio, wrote in to say that the store are holding a draw for their huge Millenium Falcon display, which they no longer need. This isn’t a promotion, it’s the decision of this particular store. When you pre-order the TPM video with your $5, you are eligbile for the draw. When you pay the rest of the money on April 4th, you are entered into the draw. Check this page out for photos of the Falcon, and details of entering. Remember that this is just at one store.

Patrick also adds that TRU have marked down a lot of Episode One items, with 50-60% off. Might be worth a visit to check it out.

COMMTECH ERRORS / CHANGES
03.23.00 | 8:32pm EST | posted by Tarpals

A couple of Commtech variations/errors for you. Firstly, Ghost Man reports that there are two mis-spellings on the back of the Admiral Motti Commtech Chip. The words “original” and “operation” are wrongly spelled.

Darth Eddie found a Jedi Duel Darth Maul with a white-background Commtech Chip. Add that to the pile of these changes.

LASERDISC UPDATE
03.23.00 | 6:55pm EST | posted by Tarpals

I received this information from Tina from the Fan Club regarding the Episode One laserdisc. Rumors had been going around that they wouldn’t be getting this item at all, but this kinda destroys that idea:

“The Fan Club WILL be offering the Star Wars The Phantom Menace Japanese Laser Disk for sale. We are in the process of negotiating approval for pre-selling rights. Once we have been approved to pre-sell the Japanese Laser Disk I will make it available for sale on shop.starwars.com. The Laser Disk will also be available in the Star Wars Insider Issue 49. To further clarify the Japanese Laser Disk is in the English language with Japanese Subtitles – believed to be in the black “letter box”. (We have not received confirmation on this factor)”

KB AND TRU INFO
03.23.00 | 1:10pm EST | posted by Tarpals

Michael Kiesewetter wrote in with this info:

“Kay Bee Toys are marking their clearance figures up from $2.50 to $2.99.

Toys R Us has the Millennium Falcon CD ROM game with Han figure for $9.99. (I know that it’s been cheaper in the past, but I thought I’d mention it since I have not seen it listed with the other clearance stuff on the site and people might not see it because these are usually located in the video game section of the store.)”

THE PHANTOM LASERDISC
03.22.00 | 2:40pm EST | posted by Tarpals

The Fan Club apparently has the Episode One Japanese Laserdisc avaialble for $89.95. Reports told me that the item was posted on their website, but I don’t see it there just now…if you’re interested in this item, call the Fan Club to check if it’s still available.

Update: Yep, it’s there. Thanks to Todd and Frank for writing. You can pre-order now for shipment in May. Shipping comes to $14. The numbers are limited, so if you want one, call.

Update 2: Looks like the quantities were very limited. Paul wrote just now (5:10pm EST) to say that he had called to order, but was told it was sold out. Seems they must have taken their maximum number of pre-orders already.

Update 3: Strange. It now isn’t even certain if the Fan Club are going to have this item at all! That would account for it not being online, and for it being “sold out”. I’ll look into it and try to get an answer. Thanks to Paul for the update.

It seems that some of the prices mentioned in yesterday’s eToys report have been put up a bit. Please do check the price before you order, just in case it is one of these newly-priced items.

Update: Marv wrote in to say that although the prices aren’t the same on the item pages, when you actually add the item to your cart, it comes up with the sale price. I checked this out: I went to the Theed Hanger page (it said $29.99) and when I added it, it came up as $14.99. So, worth a look.

KB PRICE RISE?
03.21.00 | 12:15pm EST | posted by Tarpals

This info is from Pete S:

“Last Friday I picked up a few AT-AT’s at KB Toys for $19.99 as well as a few other items. Today I went to a different KB store and found a few more. To my surprise they had already raised the price from $19.99 to $24.99. Still a great deal but $19.99 was pretty good too. I don’t know if this is happening for all of the other Star Wars items they have been getting but they too could be raised depending on how well they sell.”

Update: Thanks to all the readers who have written in to confirm this change in price.

FORCE COMMANDER AROUND NOW
03.20.00 | 5:35pm EST | posted by Tarpals

Clint sent in this info:

“Just wanted to LYK that I preorder my Force Commander game from LucasArts awhile back and it arrived today. I haven’t had a chance to open it, but I guess the bonus CD w/ the music from the game is actually in the box since it didn’t come separately. I also noticed a sticker on the outside of the box that says a recruitment poster is inside. It shows a picture of Darth Vader with his figure pointing outward and the word “You will join us” printed on it. It says that there are six of them. So if your a millionaire and want all six poster you can buy a whole bunch of the games or take the more sensible way look at some websites for someone selling one of the ones you need.”

UPDATE!!!!! – – Tony tells us- “I received my game today from LucasArts as well. There is a coupon inside which allows you to obtain the 5 additional posters “Free”, paying only $6.95 for Shipping and Handling. It requires you to mail in the completed coupon, a copy of the receipt showing the purchase between 3/1/2000 and 9/30/2000, the original Proof-of-Purchase seal, and the $6.95 check made payable to The Express Group.”

Update: Sold out.

TRU SALE STRIKES BACK
03.17.00 | 7:05pm EST | posted by Tarpals

This good -and bad – news was sent in by Jedeyeben. The info came from the TRU computers in Indiana:

“The good news is that the TRU computer shows much more classic stuff coming back in again!! yes more figures ships, including AT- AT’s! Now the bad news is that all the prices have gone up. Leave it to TRU to ruin a good thing. Don’t get me wrong – the prices are still cheap but not as cheap. 19.97 for the AT-AT and pretty much anything that was only 9.97 all went up. Same for the figures, someone may have already noticed if their store still has any of them left, but the classic figures that were 1.97 are all now 2.97! same for all the new ones coming back in.”

NEW COLLECTION 2 WAVE
03.17.00 | 3:05pm EST | posted by Tarpals

The Sio Bibble wave has been in very short supply since it was first spotted a week or so ago. Yakface reader Dylan McDermond wrote in having found a full case of the wave, ready to go out on the pegs. The case breaks down as follows: 1 x R2-D2 (slim bubble), 1 x Captain Panaka, 2 x Darth Sidious (Holograph), 2 x Naboo Royal Guard, 3 x Queen Amidala (Battle), 3 x Sio Bibble, 4 x Pit Droids. As previously reported, the Pit Droids and Sio Bibble are .0000 while Amidala is .0100, if that is of interest to you. This case was spotted at a Bi-Mart in Oregon.

We are currently dealing with difficulties outside our own company that prevent us from offering the Life Size Watto Replica for sale at this time.”
So there we have it. Perhaps it’ll be available in the near future.

BLOCKBUSTER YODA AGAIN
03.17.00 | 1:30pm EST | posted by Tarpals

Two more pieces of info on this item:

This is from Jay: “There is a Yoda up on display at my local BlockBuster 67th street and Greenfield ave. in WestAllis Wisconsin. It has all the info plain as day plastered right on front of the cardboard display that Yoda is placed upon. It states “NO PURCHASE NECESSARY”. The promo is suppose to start April 4th and run until April 9th. It is suppose to be a free raffle. My blockbuster is already taking names down on a piece of paper. All they ask for is your name, phone, and address. There were about 20 people on the list so far (yes it was a list..not individual slips)“.

And this is from Toyman4408: “I called a few of the blockbusters in my area this morning. Just to make sure the stories were the same. Seems the promo will start the day that TPM is released 4/4/00 and the drawing will be on the morning of 4/10/00. There will be no rental requirements or nothing to buy just fill out the entry form and hope for the best. I stopped by the Blockbuster up the street from me and the manager let me sneak a peek. This is a VERY cool piece. I can see I’ll be spending the week of the release hitting every Blockbuster in a 50 mile radius.”

Action Figures $2.50 (coll.3 & flash-back)
AT-AT $19.99
X-Wing $9.99
Mid-Size ( A-wing asst.) $9.99
Gunner asst. $3.99
Deluxe asst. $3.99
Beast asst. $5.99
Electronic Figures $3.99
Electronic X-Wing $19.99

Update: Lou wrote in with this:

“I thought that I would let you know that the local KBs in my area (Baltimore) already have the POTF2 merchandise on sale and have been restocking the shelves with new and improved prices. Unfortunately the amount of merchandise at my stores are nowhere near what TRU got. But I did get (this was last Friday): two AT-ATs for $19.99, Electronic X-Wing for $19.99, and loads and loads of FF figures and older! I just built an army of Sandtroopers and Hoth Soldiers (Green Card with Holosticker). Unfortunately, when I asked about the stack of Millennium Falcons they informed me that those would not be marked down. Sad. SO DON’T WAIT UNTIL APRIL … HIT KB NOW!!!”

NEW RELEASES AND PHOTOGRAPHS
03.16.00 | 1:40pm EST | posted by Tarpals

The Episode One Obi-Wan Kenobi lightsaber toy is hitting stores now. A few reports of these being found at Wal Mart stores. George Collazo sent in a few photographs, including one of the new lightsaber, one of the Hungry Hero plush Jar Jar, and a couple of the new Holograph figures, which are starting to get a bit easier to find.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Lightsaber
Hungry Hero Jar Jar Binks
Qui-Gon Jinn & Darth Maul Holographs (box front)
Darth Maul Holograph (box back)

It is quite difficult to get the holo figures in mint packages, due to the bubble shape. But I’m sure it’ll be no harder than it was with Epic Force. Thanks again to George for the photos!

Update: George mentions that the Holograph figures are indeed rotatable, like the Epic Force figures. There is a knob on the site of the holoprojector stand that moves them.

BLOCKBUSTER YODAS
03.16.00 | 1:40pm EST | posted by Tarpals

This info is from Scott:

“They are the same as the Pepsi Yodas from this summer, but with no grey base. According to my local manager, expect 6000 of these to be on the market (6000 Blockbuster stores) I think the number is high, but who knows…he could be right.”

Update: More info, this time from Doug: “Spoke w/a Blockbuster employee last night. They are a raffle prize, as in tickets must be purchased. No word on how much for each raffle ticket, nor what the proceeds benefit.”

Update: Scott writes again with some more info – “This could be only what the one manager I talked to is saying, but I was told: The Yodas will be raffled among buyers of the EPI video. That makes some sense, as otherwise many people would buy tickets w/o an instore purchase. Pricey raffle, eh? He does not come with a grey base, only the black metal base with the brass plaque.”

FAN HOMEPAGES PROTEST
03.15.00 | 8:50pm EST | posted by dlr

I found this little bit of info at TheForce.net-

“The official Star Wars website, www.starwars.com, began offering free homepages on its site on Wednesday, March 8. Most fans were elated, but others were severely disillusioned by a couple troublesome clauses in Star Wars Fan Homepages’ Terms of Service, which specifies explicitly that any “derivative works” based on Star Wars that fans publish on the service become the property of Lucasfilm, Ltd., which owns Star Wars, “in perpetuity.” A protest and information website has been started atwww.miscellanies.net.

Past incidents involving Apple’s iTools homepage service and Yahoo’s takeover of homepage provider Geocities saw these companies swiftly make changes to the pertinent portions of their Terms of Service agreements (similarly worded to the one Starwars.com uses) after users protested what they regarded as the theft of their intellectual property rights.”

INSIDER’S GUIDE
03.15.00 | 3:05pm EST | posted by Tarpals

This info is from Shad in Pheonix, AZ:

“I just went to Best Buy this weekend to finally reserve my copy of Ep 1 Widescreen there, and get the free Insiders guide. It took so long to decide because while I think this is the best deal, I have a Mac and therefore the CDs are useless to me. Well, I was checking out with the free CD packet and told the sales clerk I wanted to make sure that it was the Widescreen version I was reserving a copy of, and that there were no tickets with the give-away packet. He went and asked his manager what to do. He came back and said that the promotion was over since it comes out in a few weeks, and that they had ordered plenty of copies -so not to worry about getting a copy. Then he went ahead and rang everything up. I ended up getting the Ep 1 Insiders Guide packet for $.01 and didn’t even have to reserve a copy at Best Buy. NOW THAT’s a DEAL!! Perhaps this is worth trying at other Best Buy stores?”

Update: Jeff reports that the Insider’s guide is compatible with Macs. Oh well.

Electronic X-Wing Fighter

What’s next to go?

MOTTI WAVE AROUND
03.13.00 | 12:00pm EST | posted by Tarpals

This news is from Jer:

“Forbidden Planet has the new wave of POTF2 figures in stock (Darth Vader & Interrogation Droid, Princess Leia, Admiral Motti and Stromtrooper (articulated)) for £12.99. They also have limited numbers of the Millennium Falcon carry case with Imperial Scanning Technician (£19.95).”

Pricey – but if that’s your only option for these new figures, I guess you’re kinda stuck. I always recommend online buying (where possible of course) for UK fans, because the items are really too expensive here. £12.99 (more than $20!!!) for just one figure is not my idea of fun. You see people all the time saying that $11.99 for new figures at some online and comic stores is too expensive, but when you live abroad, that’s cheap!

Update: Jer wrote in again with a correction – the figures were priced at £10.99 (still expensive!!). They had foreign “Bonus Droid” twin packs for £12.99.

HARD TO FIND & NEW ITEMS IN STOCK (?)
03.12.00 | 5:10pm EST | posted by Tarpals

This info is from Clint:

“According to Star Show collectibles they have some of the harder to find new items back in stock such as the New Leia, Admiral Motti, Stormtrooper, Vader, R2-B1, and TC-14 for $8.99. Unfortunately, no R2-D2 w/ holo Leia. They also have the Jabba the Hutt w/ 2 Headed announcer in for $24.99 and all of the second wave of accessory packs for $7.99 each. It’s happened a few times before that I’ve placed an order and they didn’t have any of the items in stock even though at the time of the order the website said they did. Unfortunately. they didn’t write to me to let me know that they were out of stock so some of the items may actually gone and the website hasn’t been updated to reflect that. However, if anybody still looking for these items and I’m sure they are, it’s worth it to at least try.”

I had a quick look, and they also have Skiff Guards and Rebel Pilots ($24.99 each). Worth a try, as Clint says.

SHRINK-WRAPPED SABER 2 PACK
03.09.00 | 6:10pm EST | posted by Tarpals

This info is from Clint:

“I just wanted to LYK that I was at Sams today looking for their 2-packs, which they didn’t have any and as I was rounding the corner I noticed that they had a display of lightsabers. They have both the Darth Maul and Qui-Gon wrapped together for $14.07. The only bad thing is that they are shrink-wrapped and who ever did it did a really good job because both boxes are pushed against each other. Unfortunately, this causes the boxes to bow, usually in the middle of each of them. I was lucky enough to find one where the Qui-Gon one was only slightly bowed. Since Sams doesn’t do the shrink-wrapping themselves, this is probably going to be a universal problem. Anyway, I still think it’s a great deal 2 lightsabers for one low price, can’t beat that”

This news comes from Simon Winter : I’ve been told by someone who is working on behalf of Fox video, that the official world wide retail launch for the Phantom Menace will take place at HMV, Trocadero London. They are opening the store at midnight on Sunday 2nd April, and there is going to be a big opening event with loads of media and special effects. USA won’t get the video until 4th April, so if you buy it at midnight from HMV in London you’ll be the first in the world to own the video, how cool would that be?!!!

An update over on Figuresinaction – they’ve posted boxed shots of the new Marmit Sandtrooper figure, well worth checking out! They also sent in this store update:

A large e-store is claiming they are the only ones who have Marmit Sandtroopers and TIE Pilots available. Contrary to their reports, Figures In Action is selling the Marmit Sandtrooper and TIE Fighter Pilot for $89.99 and $79.99 each respectively. That’s $20 less then those other guys. Don’t get fooled into paying more ElsewherE!

And I promise that I’ve got the site right this time 🙂

DESTINY CAN & FAN CLUB
03.08.00 | 9:30pm EST | posted by dlr

I have recieved several reports about people recieving Destiny cans in poor condition. Rather than fill this space with negative posts [which seems to be too often these days] I am instead going to post one from David Cordes-

“I received my Destiny can today from the Fan Club (which I purchased with my Debit card, btw). Unfortunately, the corner base of the display was cracked, the wood splintered and bent up with flakes of black paint everywhere. I immediately called the Fan Club. Since I live in Denver, I drove to their offices only 30 minutes away. They were very helpful and went to check to see if they had a replacement, even though they are currently out of stock. While I waited in the lobby, I had a chance to observe their cool life-size statues of Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Han in Carbonite and C-3PO and R2-D2. They returned from their wherehouse with a replacement which was in excellent condition. In spite of the bad rap that the Fan Club has gotten lately, and the fact that it was a slight inconvenience for me to drive out of my way to get a replacement, the Fan Club provided me with outstanding customer service. I hope this will be encouraging news to many frustrated fans. The Force is still with the Fan Club”

KBKIDS SALES CONTINUE
03.08.00 | 1:50pm EST | posted by Tarpals

Some more sale items on KBKids.com:
Royal Starship – $59.95
Epic Force Qui-Gon – $9.95

Update: This came from Peter Bateman about the Epic Force Qui-Gon:

Regarding this item it is definitely “Buyer Beware”. I ordered this item 2 weeks ago to be sent the “Deluxe Qui Gon” (with light saber handle). I called and complained, and they shipped the “correct” item by 2 day air at no charge, which was, another “Deluxe Qui Gon” (oh joy). They finally stopped sending me those deluxe figures and are now supposedly checking with the warehouse to find out whats up. I do get to keep both the Deluxe Qui Gons however 🙁

Looks like it’s an “order at your own risk” item.

Update 2: Many more people writing with the same info. Certainly seems like thu’ve got their code numbers mixed up.

Some more info on those “deformed” Japanese Episode One figures shown previously. These are actually talking figures – when you put them on your hand, they speak 5-6 words. In Japanese, of course. They retail in Japan for the equivalent of about $15.
They are due for release on 23rd March.

HUNGRY HERO JAR JAR
03.07.00 | 1:00pm EST | posted by Tarpals

This info on this upcoming now released item is from Chris:
“It’s about 15-16 inches tall.
The 8 phrases are: “Icky icky goo”, “How wude”, “Mesa called Jar Jar Binks”, “Yousa Jedi cawazy”, “Maxi big, da force”, “We dude it!”, “Yahoo!” and “Oyi, mooie-mooie! I luv yous!”.
You squeeze the stomach and the tounge unrolls like a party favor and makes a slurping sound. Stop squeezing and he makes another noise. His tounge also catches the 2 chubas he comes with. It’s a pretty cool toy. I’ve only seen it at 1 Walmart. The price is $17.97!”

Chris picked this toy up over a month ago. So, look out for it at Wal Marts. If you want to, I guess 🙂

THE NEWS YOU WANTED TO HEAR!
03.06.00 | 4:30pm EST | posted by Tarpals

Oh yeah, we’ve been waiting years for this! It seems that the Carbon Freezing Chamber playset might well make it to retail after all! The official Hasbro Star Wars site at http://starwars.hasbro.com have posted some news today, in what seems the start of an attempt to use their website more (about time too). One of the things they address is the feedback they’ve gotten from fans on three main subjects – this playset, R2-D2 with hologram Leia, and the new 2000 cards.
They say that the Carbon Freeze playset was delayed rather than cancelled; they decided to wait until after Episode One was released to do the set. They are hard at work on this, and the chances of being able to buy this toy soon look pretty good!
They mention that R2-D2 with holo Leia was pulled from assortments to correct a mistake. That doesn’t really answer anything, because the mistake was corrected ages ago, and the corrected figure has been shipping 1 per case for months. So I don’t know what they’re talking about on that one.
As for the new cards, they say that they’re “thrilled” about having Obi-Wan and Vader on the new cards (I personally think they’d be 10 times better without the Obi pic). They do mention however, that they’re not finalized yet, and they will post pictures of the finished cards in the near future.
That’s the main points from their news update, head over there for the full post!

Update: According to the Hasbro site, there are 2 new Wal Mart exclusive items due out this month. The Falumpaset with Ammo Wagon (noo!) is a Wa Mart exclusive, which accounts for why it wasn’t shown at Toy Fair. The second exclusive item is called “Hungry Hero Jar Jar” – squeeze belly to see tongue extend – speaks 8 movie phrases. Sounds like another Hasbro bestseller.

HOLO MAUL AND QUI-GON HIT SHELVES
03.05.00 | 6:15am EST | posted by Tarpals

Darth Menace reports finding the new Hologram Darth Maul and Qui-Gon Jinn figures in a local Wal Mart. Darth Menace mentions that packaging is similar to Epic Force – you can press the button to light up the figure, but you can’t rotate it. The same store – in Richland center, WI – had TC-14, R2-B1, and R2-D2 with hologram Leia too. This definitely seems to be a big push from Hasbro for the release of the Episode One video next month.

VIDEO OFFERS!
03.03.00 | 7:15pm EST | posted by Tarpals

Jedivalkyrie sent in this info on the video promotions at TRU and WalMart in Jackson, TN:
Toys R Us: There is a sign on the door proclaiming that for every Ep 1 video you reserve, your name is entered in a raffle for the huge Millennium Falcon display hanging in the action figure aisle. Basically, you get one chance for $5. The sign also says that the offer is only good at stores which still have the ship on display. Worth checking into at your local store, even if you pre-order from another place.
Wal Mart: The Wal Mart display is a 10 foot long Anakin’s Podracer hanging from the ceiling, where the pod and cables are inflatable, and the engines are cardboard. I didn’t see that you could pre-order the video there, but they will have it for sale (obviously). It would be a cool item to get ahold of after the video comes out.”

REBEL PILOTS
03.03.00 | 5:20pm EST | posted by Tarpals

Ok, I don’t want to fill up the news with Rebel Pilots posts, so I’ll make this the last, unless you hear that eToys will actually be shipping your Pilots set.
This info on eToys comes from Matt:

“I called customer service and they told me I should have been informed by now that they don’t have any and will not have any either. They cancelled my order and made sure no charges were made to my card. I then called D & S toys and they still have the Rebel pilots so I ordered on from there. It cost $24.00 plus shipping but I also got the Commtech Leia, Motti, Vader and Jawa and the shipping on the whole package was only $4.50!! I got a personal email about the motti wave so not sure if they have many, and they have a waiting list for commtech stormtroopers.”

ETOYS UPDATE
03.03.00 | 1:10pm EST | posted by Tarpals

Stacks of mail about the Rebel Pilots sets. Some people haven’t been informed of any problem, some have received mail from eToys saying the item has been discontinued! I have confirmation that the cinema scene line is definitely finished, but I don’t know if Hasbro are still shipping them. I think it’s probably just an error on eToys part, and if you’ve not been contacted at all about your order, it might be a good idea to contact them and check it out.

CASE ASSORTMENTS
03.02.00 | 9:00pm EST | posted by dlr

I recently placed an order with anotheruniverse.com for a case of MATRIX figures and in the package they sent me some nifty catalogs which list future case breakdowns for Star Wars figures. Now there are no case numbers listed, only SKU’s for their ordering system. I will however list the cases and there is only one case with dates they expect them to be shipping-

Case ? – Shipping late April – [12 figures] – includes – 1 Darth Vader, 1 Princess Leia, 3 Chewbacca’s, 3 Jek Porkins, & 4 Obi-Wan’s.

Case ? – [16 figures] – includes – 2 Capt Tarpals, 2 Pod Pilot #2?, 2 TC-14, 2 Astromech droid, 3 Mas Amedda, 3 Coruscant Guard, & 3 Tusken Raider.

Case ? – [16 figures] – includes – 1 Yoda, 1 Naboo Foot Soldier, 2 Darth Sidiois HOLO, 2 Naboo Royal Guard, 3 Queen Amidala, 3 Sio Bibble, 4 Pit Droid two packs.

Case ? – [16 figures] – includes – 1 Amidala (Coruscant), 2 Darth Maul (sith), 1 Obi Wan (hood up), 1 Jar Jar (swamp), 2 Qui-Gon Jinn, 1 Destroyer Droid, 2 R2-D2, 3 Obi Wan, 3 Queen Decoy.

Now there were other cases listed that had items that are currently shipping and there might have been another case or two that was just a rehash of one above with different numbers in it. Still I just wanted to pass along what seems to be coming- Hopefully these will all hit the end of april 🙂

TRU SALE MEMO
03.02.00 | 9:00pm EST | posted by dlr

Jason reports-

Just thought I’d pass this along. I was at the downtown Chicago TRU today at lunch and saw a couple of cases in the back. A helpful employee opened one up and it was full of Ki Adi Mundi. I thought it was just a repacked box and figured the other cases were too and left the store. After I got home I went to the TRU in my suburb and the Star Wars pegs were covered with Ki Adi Mundis and Captain Tarpals. I wonder if they are shipping solid cases of figures for their sale or if these were overstock just waiting to be put out for their sale. I don’t know, but it was strange.”

ETOYS UPDATE
03.02.00 | 4:35pm EST | posted by Tarpals

Scooby ordered the Rebel Pilots set from eToys, and was told it was shipped. Then 2 days later, he got an e-mail to say that the item was out of stock! So, it appears this item hasn’t shipped. If you ordered and have not been told it it out of stock, or have even received it, please let me know.

Wampa points out that eToys have a sale on just now, and you can pick up the electronic Naboo Fighter for just $6.99!

Update: More on the Rebel Pilots. I’ve heard from a few more people who didn’t get the item, and Jim Kerr sent in a copy of the e-mail he got from eToys. It’s too long to copy out here, but basically, they took orders then discovered that the item wasn’t actually available. They expect more in soon, and – if you choose – they will put it on backorder for you, for when they do get them in stock.

“Just thought I’d let you know, now is the time to go to Toys R Us for Star Wars displays. I noticed the other day my local TRU was reconfiguring their Star Wars displays to separate regular priced items from sale items. In doing so they are disposing of a lot of the panoramic movies scene cardboard displays in order to accommodate the new arrangements. Seizing the opportunity I inquired what their plans were for the now dismantled displays.Their solution, give them to me. : ) I am assuming that this is probably taking place or soon will be at TRU’s everywhere. If so, now is certainly the time to check your local TRU for some cool freebies.”
