Episode II Previews On Lego Site
January 31, 2002 | 11:15 AM EST | John

Lego’s Star Wars Page has posted two pretty nifty images of the upcoming (highlight to read spoilers) Jango Fett’s Slave I with Jango Fett and Boba Fett figures, and The Jedi Starfighter with Obi-Wan figure. They are presented in Shockwave, so you can spin these suckers around, zoom in, zoom out, eat them with apple-butter, etc. Pretty nice looking! Click on over to see them in all their colored-block glory.

Set of 8 Episode II Figures on e-Bay?!?
January 31, 2002 | 11:07 AM EST | John

Yes, it’s true… These two auction are based in Hong Kong, and it sounds like they’re actually “in hand”. Doesn’t make much difference now because they’re both sold, but they guy has posted images of all 8 figures carded! To see both of these, click here or here. Major spoilers lie ahead, so beware as usual.

Q&A Update
January 31, 2002 | 12:00 AM EST | Adam

With Every Question For Justice has been updated with 10 questions and answers… want to know which Jedi Council members are returning for the prequel sequel? So do we. But we’ve got a complete-as-we-can-make-it answer for ya in today’s update, and more!

More “in-hand” Figures on e-Bay
January 30, 2002 | 1:21 PM EST | John

Droid figures Imperial “RM-49” and Episode II “R3-T7” (R3-T7 is an Episode II spoiler, folks, so beware!) have also appeared on e-Bay in the last 24 hours, so if you’re feeling plucky, click here to see them. These figures are claimed to be “in-hand”, so it seems like it should be Ok, but check out the location before bidding. These puppies would be coming from Singapore which will be more shipping for Air. And please people, just a footnote, but never accept Surfaceshipping from other countries. It can take up to 8-12 weeks.

Fan Club Figure Deals!
January 30, 2002 | 11:48 AM EST | John

“Jedichirp” alerts us to some deals happening over at the Star Wars Fan Club Site. They include;

Luke in Bacta Tank – $6.99
Deluxe Darth Maul – $6.99
Assorted various POTJ and POTF figures – $1.99-$3.99.

Not too shabby, especially for the 2 deluxe figures that were only released a couple of months ago. Get there before stock depletes!

Keep An Eye On K-Mart
January 30, 2002 | 11:41 AM EST | John

Yak-reader “Hurricane” makes an nice little find, and an astute assumption;

“The now-ancient R2-Q5 wave arrived at my local Kmart within the past few days, which leads me to believe that their distribution centers are probably scraping the bottom of the warehouse looking for something to send out in light of the recent Chapter 11 situation… looks like Kmart might yield some interesting finds in the weeks ahead…. thought you might find it interesting.”

We certainly did, and thanks for the input. He’s right, as they get to the bottom of the proverbial barrel, well, I wouldn’t be surprised to find a few odds-and-ends here and around. Also, if they’re overstocked on POTJ’s, watch for closeout on them. It’s funny to say, but K-Mart actually, (and I’ve been told this by higher-ups), starts stocking for Christmas around March. That means the old has to go to make place for the new, and in this case, Episode II items. Good luck!

Jedi Dex Unveiled On Hasbro.com
January 30, 2002 | 11:29 AM EST | John

Hasbro.com is highlighting another new Episode II toy on it’s site today, this time not being action figure oriented. It’s called the Jedi Dex, (being a word-play on index I guess), and it actually looks kind of snazzy. They claim that the Jedi Dex is a small electronic encyclopedia that contains information on characters, droids, alien species, vehicles, and weapons from Episode II. Also, it includes information and graphic images of over 60 characters and paraphenalia from the original Trilogy. Functions on this thing also include an organizer, an address book, alarm clock, scheduler, calculator, personal lists, trivia game. To read more on this little item Hasbro is putting out through Tiger Electronics, click here. Looks neat, but I have visions of this thing being $30+ when it comes out in late April, and by July it’ll be sitting with the Electronic Pod Race Game from Episode I… you know, the one with the “exclusive” Anakin figure? Uh-huh.

Sith Apprentice Maul (Armored) Returns
January 30, 2002 | 12:00 AM EST | Adam

A quartet of figures were “accidentally” shipped to stores as Episode II preview figures courtesy of a vendor screw-up or a way to unload old stock. As a result, comic shops and stores in the Media Play/Suncoast/Sam Goody family have received…

• Darth Maul (Sith Apprentice [armor])
• Obi-Wan Kenobi (Cold Weather Gear)
• Aurra Sing
• Qui-Gon Jinn (Jedi Training)

Since they’re coming through distributors like Diamond, they’re gonna cost a little more– around $9 where we’ve seen them– but they’re going to be around if you need them.

AOTC eBay Auctions: Buyer Beware!
January 29, 2002 | 8:22 PM EST | Adam

With all the auctions up on eBay lately advertising the AOTC preview figures as “in-hand,” take special care to look for the phrase “presell” hidden in the auction text. Many of the auctions I’ve seen claim to have the four figures available now, yet will not ship for a month or more and often do not have any images, meaning that your $50 bid might make you one of the first people to get these figures… after you had the chance to see them in Toys “R” Us.

With that in mind, people like this seller (the guy we mentioned earlier) has three of the four up now, with some very nice images of the figures in their packages.

Considering these should be widely available by the end of March, be sure to read the fine print of these auctions… there’s nothing worse than paying a premium to get something early only to have to end up waiting anyway.

Star Wars All-In-One Adventure Images
January 29, 2002 | 1:25 PM EST | John

Rebelscum has posted images of the Playschool Star Wars All-In-One Adventure carded sets of the X-Wing and the Naboo Fighter. Check them out, they look pretty sweet!

Episode II Preview Toys Start To Leak
January 29, 2002 | 1:06 PM EST | John

I was casually browsing around e-Bay, and lo and behold I ran across these auctions. It seems that the Episode II Preview figures are starting to dribble out to the secondary market. If that’s the case, it’s only a matter of time before they hit the retail chains!

Prototype Images From 2001 Collectors Guide!
January 29, 2002 | 2:11 AM EST | John

Just for a bit of eye-candy for all our faithful Yak-readers, I got permission from the creators of the 2001 Collectors Guide, (which is still available throughgayne@aol.com for $13.99 shipped), to post some of their many cool prototype images in the book for all our Yakkers to see! Click here to see the full size of the image above along with a bit of a description of what might have been. I know it’s different, but it’s a bit of a deviation from all the Episode II news, and a little something different. Enjoy!

Toy Fair UK Report
January 28, 2002 | 12:30 PM EST | John

Faithful Yak-reader “MattYUK” has sent us a full report from the UK Toy Fair, happening from January 26th Through the 30th in England. His listing is as spoiler-ific (is that a word?) as you can get, so highlight to read. It fills in the holes that were sent in the report a few posts below from yesterday. Highlight to read;

Zam Wesell
Padme Amidala (Arena Escape)
Anakin Skywalker (Outland Peasant Disguise)
Jango Fett
Battle Droid
Super Battle Droid
Boba Fett (standard and deluxe)
Tusken Raider w/child
C-3PO (with attachable coverings)
R2-D2
Taua We
Orn Free Ta
Shaak Ti
Mace Windu
Obi-Wan Kenobi (Coruscant Chase)
Count Dooku
Padme
The Reek
Vehicles for the 3-3/4″ figures included Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter, Slave 1 (with new paint job), Anakin’s speeder and Zam Wesell’s Speeder. The new Star Wars Unleashed series was present, as were a bunch of electronic games and toys. Both Anakin’s and Count Dooku’s full-size light sabres were there to be played with, along with 12″ figures of Anakin, Obi-Wan and Clone Trooper.
Most impressive (unbelievably) was the Episode II Monopoly set! Why? Well, the box, the board and the cards all featured real spoiler material I’d never seen before such as pics of the Jedi Library, Yoda brandishing a light sabre, Clone Troopers in action. Republic Gunships, Dooku’s Solar Sail and more.

Thank you “MattYUK”! Anyone else have anything to add, like images/pictures? If you do, don’t be afraid to send them in!

LEGO Preview: Jedi Starfighter
January 28, 2002 | 11:36 AM EST | John

The Official Site has images posted of the new 138-piece Jedi Starfighter from Episode II. They’re claiming that Lego fans “don’t have to wait too long for their first Episode II set”. Hmmm, does this mean that Legos are on a different release schedule from Hasbro’s stringent rules? Click on over to see this beauty!

eBay Prototype Round-Up
January 28, 2002 | 6:17 AM EST | Adam

Fans looking for nifty prototype Star Wares on eBay can be treated to the following this week…

Unproduced Rancor from Illusive Concepts
An alternate piece from Illusive, who did make a different Rancor maquette. Here, he’s seen bursting through a wall. Cool stuff.

Chewbacca (Dejarik) Unreleased CommTech Chip
This item is notable because it’s one of the unproduced chips that was to have “twice the speech.” This auction is especially cool because it has a .wav file with the chip’s sounds on it.

POTF2 Carbonite Prototype
This preproduction piece is actually different than the one released around the Shadows of the Empire era. Worth a look.

Q&A Update

Not as clumsy or random as a blaster… Jedigear.com!
January 28, 2002 | 12:13 AM EST | John

Once in a while I find a page I like to highlight on Yakface. Whether it be a small homepage, or a big business. This one seems to fall somewhere in the middle.
We all like to go to conventions and toy shows, and we all know that some of us like to dress up as our favorite charachter. Well, if you ever tried to build your own lightsaber, you know how tedious it can be trying to find parts. Look no further!
Jedigear.com has a load of stuff for sale for the aspiring Jedi! All kinds of add-on parts are available for those of us who just start with a chrome pipe from Home Depot, or are lucky enough to secure a greyflex flash. These guys have decent prices, and are really impressive… most impressive. Check them out!

Episode II Figure List
January 27, 2002 | 11:47 PM EST | John

Coming from an aquaintence of mine known only as Jedifire, is a total list of Episode II figures that will be out on April 23. This is spoiler material, so highlight to read;

Zam Wesell – Jango Fett – Battle Droid – Super-Trooper – Captain Typho – Boba Fett – Tusken Raider – Battle Droid – Senator Segat – Geonosian – Plo Koon – Senator Jar Jar – Taua We – Nikto – Dexter Jettster – Sasee Tiin – Luminaria – Supreme Chancellor Palpatine – Cantina Alien – Qui-Gon Jinn – Rebel Officer – Mastiff Droid – Orn Free Ta – Fans Choice III (Ephant Mon) – Yellow Astromech – Pod Racer – Shaak Ti – Mace Windu – Obi-Wan Kenobi

Sounds like some classic stuff thrown in as well, but for the most part it’s all going to be Episode II. Complying with Lucas’ wishes, no images accompany this article, just text. Cool nonetheless.

Official AOTC Merchandise Release Dates
January 27, 2002 | 11:32 PM EST | John

According to SirSteve’s Guide, the official word from Hasbro is that the preview figures should not be on shelves until March 16th, no images for upcoming AOTC items should be shown until March 26th, and absolutely no AOTC merchandise, (sans the “preview” figures), should be on store shelves until April 23rd. For those of you following this in anticipation of the next midnight toy-blitz you’ll notice that the dates have changed from the original almost-official dates. For more in-depth information on this, check out Sirsteve’s article.

Image of Episode II Novelization
January 27, 2002 | 12:49 PM EST | John

Raging Dianoga has posted an excellent image of the upcoming Episode IInovelization by Ron Salvatore. Very basic look, not unlike Episode I’s original jacket. I wonder, is this one of a few different charachter covers, or is this all that will be offered? Only time will tell!

Luminous Being Are We, Not This… Lint?
January 26, 2002 | 11:27 PM EST | John

I guess I’ll thank Yoda72 for alerting us on this… auction. Folks, I’ve been around the Star Wars circuit for nigh on more years than I care to remember, but this has got to be one of the goofiest things I’ve ever seen. Barring the fact that this may be legit, it’s completely absurd. I think, moreover than the actual auction, the fact that bothers me the most is that someone actually BID on the item. But, I digress. Without further ado, click below to view an official auction for…

Mark Hamill’s Pocket Lint

Okay, you’ve been warned.

UPDATE – As reader “Dewayne M.” points out, the location is bogus. I completely overlooked this when I first visited the auction page mainly because I was overwhelmed by the sheer unbelievability of the whole sorry situation. But, to sum up, look at the location once more. It reads “Stu Pedaso, USE”. Now, sound it all together. Got it? Good. If you can’t figure it out, please don’t write and ask…

ET Story Follow Up
January 24, 2002 | 9:42 PM EST | Bill

Yak Reader David wrote in with this summary of the ET story:
(Possible spoilers so highlight to read).

“I just watched the Entertainment Tonight footage and they reported that the images seen (the fight between Jango and Obi-Wan) can be seen tomorrow on the official website. Most of the images were new or shot at new angles (which haven’t been seen before) and it was pretty coooooool. After seeing it, my desire (which has been slipping lately) for the next movie has dramatically increased.”

Sounds good doesn’t it????!!!!

Preview Figure Image Of Mr. Fett
January 24, 2002 | 1:42 PM EST | John

No, it’s not Boba. Apparently someone got ahold of a preview figure that’s slated to hit retail in the next month or so. This could be considered a “spoiler”, so beware! But, if you want to gander at this baby, click on over to the e-Bay auction. Me? I’ll wait until I see them hit retail. When I went to this auction to report on it, it was already at $227.50! Wow! For a carded figure that’ll be out within weeks! But, still neat to look at. Just a small disclaimer; We at Yakface have nothing to do with this figure or auction, we are simply reporting it. ‘Nuff said.

Q&A Thursday Update

12″ Scale Custom Jabba On E-Bay
January 24, 2002 | 1:33 AM EST | John

This thing is huge, and it’s up for auction! It’s a full-on 12″ scale Jabba The Hutt, and it looks BAD! (Taking that I mean “BAD” in a good sense). This is definitely one of the nicer customs I’ve seen in a while, considering that we’ve only been after Hasbro to make one of these for about 5 years now. This creation was whipped up by Todd M., who sent me the information about this auction. Good luck with the auction, Todd, and for everyone else, be sure to check out this bad boy!

Attack Of The Clones On Entertainment Tonight–Tomorrow
January 23, 2002 | 9:09 PM EST | Bill

Yak Reader Dave wrote in with this heads up: Spoiler warning so highlight to read.

“Tomorrow on Entertainment Tonight they are going to have “exclusive” behind the scenes from E2 AOTC. Some of the images that I saw included Jango Fett and Boba Fett, and Obi Wan giving a head butt to Jango in a massive fight sequence! It looks good!”

2001 Collectors Guide, Get It!
January 23, 2002 | 12:26 PM EST | John

I just received my copy of this collectors guide I highlighted last week, and I just have to say, if you didn’t order it yet, do it! This thing is incredible!!! It has loads of vintage and POTF post vintage era, including unproduced and never-before-seen toys. This guy did one heck of a bang-up job on compiling this information! It is so current that Zutton and Eeth Koth are pictured inside. How’s that for timely?

We here at Yak are getting no kick-back from this or profiting in any way, I am just that impressed by the setup of this book. Again, you can order one by writing to gayne@aol.com and asking for information on where to send payment. The book, (and I still can’t believe the value for the meager price), is only 9.99 plus 4.00 shipping. It is worth EVERY CENT. So, when you order, tell them you saw it highlighted at Yakface!

Unleashed Figure Images Unleashed!
January 23, 2002 | 12:16 PM EST | John

Hasbro has the next wave of previews up, this time being the Unleashed figures we spoke of here at Yak some months back. Pictured are Darth Maul in a blaze of red-lightsaber fury, and Jango Fett with Boba Fett. Looks like Todd McFarlane fell into the Hasbro factory and had his way with the sculpts. Check them out, it’s well worth it!

Indiana Jones IV News
January 22, 2002 | 11:39 PM EST | Adam

While not our usual focus here at Yak’s, this story at FoxNews.com was too good to pass up. Some comments from Steven Spielberg about what is presumably the final Indy movie (and the final push for merchandising) were included, most notably info on one of the returning characters. Indy fans, check it out!

Unproduced POTF2 Toy Prototypes on eBay
January 22, 2002 | 9:11 PM EST | Adam

Checking eBay this afternoon, a few notable items were discovered that might interest you.

POTF2 Remote Control Landspeeder
Item #1694282856
Originally shown in 1998, the item was given the axe along with several other products that year. This prototype has a packaging test, a painted sample of what the toy would have looked like, and of course the remote control modeled after the Special Edition Imperial Landing Craft. Well worth a look.

POTF2 Millennium Falcon Flight Controller
Item #1694282956
A follow-up to the poor selling X-Wing-On-A-Stick, this toy has surfaced a few times in various stages of production, including one alleged final packaged sample. Today, a shot of the toy only is available with a less than fully accurate description of why it was cancelled.

Star Wars Jr./Playskool Sets
Item #1694368654
Unpainted/Preproduction samples of the upcoming preschool toy sets that include the X-Wing and the Naboo Fighter. Especially nifty is the Naboo Fighter since it was cast in grey plastic.

Need Army Builders???
January 20, 2002 | 8:49 PM EST | Bill

Yak Reader JediJones wrote this in about his local Wal-Mart:

“My local Wal-Mart Supercenter had one section of a 4-way shelf filled with a new army builder case assortment. There were tons of dirty Biker Scouts (no clean ones, sorry guys) and Sandtroopers, and also Boomer Droids, Leia Generals, and Dagobah Vaders. This is what the assortment contains exactly according to newforcecomics.com e-mail updates:
DAGOBAH DV 2
LEIA MILITARY DRESS 2
BOOMER DAN 2
BIKER SCOUT 3
SAND TROOPER 3

That checks out with what I saw on the shelf, which was about 5 cases worth of this. Now I only wish if they can get 5 cases of these repack assortments that they would have gotten more than 1 case of the Rebel Trooper assortment, where all the army builders sold out before I got there in the morning 2 weeks ago.”

Not to be mistaken as an official download for this, but they’d make excellent backdrops for the Ultaramas that we endorse as the best darned display units available in the known universe. To check out these backdrops, click here!

Cold Gear Obi-Wan: Origin Finale?
January 11, 2002 | 4:20 AM EST | Adam

Over the past few months, popular consensus was that Hasbro’s snow gear Obi-Wan figure was to have come from Dark Horse Comics’ four-issue series Jedi Quest. It turns out that the design did not appear in the comic after all, confirming what Hasbro originally said about the figure being from a comic that didn’t quite make it.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled news.

Clearances Continue… Final Markdowns to Follow?
January 11, 2002 | 4:09 AM EST | Adam

In case you’re not of the toy store haunting persuasion, now’s a great time to peruse your local clearance bins.

Wal-Mart has marked down several items in several areas. I spotted a Lego Trade Federation MTT for a paltry $20 tonight as well as many other items, including a few Harry Potter sets for half price and one of the Jurassic Park Jr. sets marked down to $5. This is notable because the line will be compatible with this year’s Star Wars Jr. offerings.

Targets are starting their 50% off reduction, meaning Collection 1 Power of the Jedi figures are around $3.50 and any of the clearance Star Wars Lego (which varies by location) will be reduced accordingly.

Keep your peepers peeled for bargains alongside the new releases!

AOTC Collection 1 Wave 1: Official Images
January 10, 2002 | 4:51 PM EST | Adam

Both Hasbro’s Star Wars Page and StarWars.com have posted a shot of a trio of Collection 1 figures– Anakin, Padme, and Obi-Wan.

To see the images, surf on over. These figures are the same ones shown in some of the collections of images that have shown up in recent weeks.

The shot itself isn’t very high-res, so making out the quality of faces on the characters– one of the high points of the line with its much ballyhooed use of RealScan Technology– isn’t possible.

NSync Dropped From AOTC… For Good!
January 10, 2002 | 11:26 AM EST | John

I picked this tidbit up from TheForce.net. NSync will NOT be appearing in Episode II – They have officially been cut from the film because of the “big deal” everyone made about it. (Maybe George saw our poll results?) Considering the 97-percentile of “No’s”, this is good news indeed! The news comes from none other than NSync band member Joey Fatone himself on The Carson Radio Show, station 93.3 FLZ. To listen to the actual MP3 of the show, click here. TheForce.net also has it mirrored, which is reachable from their site. HOORAY!!!

Power Of The Force Deluxe Figures At New Force Comics
January 9, 2002 | 10:05 PM EST | Bill

You mean you still need the second wave of Deluxe Power of the Jedi figures??? New Force Comics has a great deal on the Leia and Amanaman Deluxe figures! They have opener sets for $16.98— thats HALF of what you’d pay at Target, Wal-Mart, etc), and MOMC sets for $19.99 (which is STILL LESS than Target and others!!!!!!).

Amanaman is one of the most requested figures in the Power of the Jedi line, and Slave Leia just rocks. If you haven’t bought this pair already, what are you waiting for?

Episode II Sneak Peak Figures Coming Soon?
January 9, 2002 | 9:54 PM EST | John

An anonymous Yak-reader, (he would like to keep his identity obscured for obvious reasons), sends us a copy of this e-mail that was shipped off to all the stores in the northeast, apparently today. It addresses the Sneak Peak figures from Episode II. It reads;

“STAR WARS EPISODE II FIGURES
SW-E2 Sneak Peak figures will be shipped under SKN 127623 [This SKN is the same as POTJ basic assortment]. The NEW figures should be arriving IN STORES around the end of this month and will be split according to sales of the old figures. At this time the names of the new figures can not be revealed.”

If this can be confirmed by any other TRU worker/manager, we here at Yak would be much obliged. If it is kosher, well, soon the hunt will be on! We’re looking into the validity of this e-mail, more on this as it comes in…

Episode II Pez Images?
January 9, 2002 | 7:43 PM EST | John

Thanks to Yak-reader “gilbord16” who alerted us to this posting on a page calledPezHead, we get a chance to have a glimpse at what some of the non-HasbroAttack Of The Clones merchandise is going to look like! It looks like there’s going to be six Pez dispensers to start out with, and depending on how well these go, (hopefully not like the “Wicket” Pez dispensers that are still collecting dust…), we’ll probably see more. Thanks again for the alert, “gilbord16”!

2002 Hallmark Ornaments On The Web… Sort Of
January 9, 2002 | 2:16 PM EST | Adam

Reader Jesse informs us that Hallmark.com has posted information on the 2002 Star Wars ornaments– this year, expect new versions of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader as well as an electronic Death Star.

While no images of their new Star Wars ornaments have been posted, much of the 2002 “Dreambook” is posted, complete with images. As of yet, nothing fromClones has been spotted, but then again LucasFilm and friends are doing their best to keep it all under wraps this time, and Hallmark is notorious for trickling out some releases a little late.

Episode II Slave I from Hasbro: Official Image
January 9, 2002 | 2:12 PM EST | Adam

In a surprise and welcome move, Star Wars.com has posted a single preview image and a brief description of the Attack of the Clones version of the Slave Ivehicle.

The toy has features unseen in the previous models, and the description makes it seem as if it could be an all-new toy, much like the Lego version of the vehicle.

In case you missed them the Official Site also has images of BoShek, R4-M9, and Teebo.

25th Anniversary Han & Chewie 2-Pack – The Answer
January 8, 2002 | 9:38 PM EST | John

Thank you to all our “free-them-from-their-plastic-prison” figure collectors out there, (who are also known as “those sacreligeous openers“), as to all the e-mail addressing the state of this alleged crack in Han’s neck on 99% of the figures spotted in various retail chains.
The fact-of-the-matter is that these are not cracks, but where a seperate piece of plastic fits in to keep the head/neck in place. This should put to rest any rumors of a massive recall, scalpers selling “undamaged” units, etc. They areall like this. Thanks again to all those who wrote in so quickly. Now, if I ever find one of these, I too can open mine up, (just like the rest of my collection…GASP!), and see this “crack”. Good luck on the hunt, folks.

CCG From Decipher To WOTC… Why?
January 8, 2002 | 9:28 PM EST | John

With the recent move of the Customizable Card Game from Decipher, (who seemed to be doing a fantastic job), to WotC, (for what may appear to be “obivious reasons”), Lucas marketing has had a lot of e-mail with the simple question, “Why?”. Harold Roffman has addressed this issue by sending a letter of explaination to TheForce.net as to the decision that seemed to come from nowhere. Check it out!

25th Anniversary 2-Pack Warning…
January 8, 2002 | 8:31 PM EST | John

We got this letter from a collector called Walrusman with this disturbing news concerning the new Han & Chewbacca 25th Anniversary 2-Pack.

I just wanted to write & ask if you could pass a question onto your readers? I have been finding the new 25th anniversary 2-packs at both Walmart & Target in the last few days. At both stores, every single Han/Chewbacca 2-pack has a flaw! Every Han Solo I saw had a cracked neck. About 1/8 of an inch below the line where the head meets the neck there is a horizontal crack.
On some figures, it was visible, but slightly. Others were so bad, you could see the shaft of Han’s head inside. Every 2-pack was like this at all stores. Needless to say, we have an over abundance of them. Did Hasbro make the chest with too thin of plastic? Please feel free to warn your readers. Thanks & keep up the best site on the net!

Anyone else notice this, or does Hasbro just have the notion that all collectors keep their items MIB and carded, therefor not caring too much what’s going into the box, as long as the box is mint? Is this a quality control issue? If anyone has opened one of these puppies, drop us a line to let us know if you experienced the same problem as described above. Thanks again, Walrusman!

Episode II Figure Images Return
January 7, 2002 | 7:35 PM EST | John

Again, someone has written me to inform our Yakkers that the Episode II Action Figure images are up for our viewing pleasure. As before, get there if you haven’t seen them. The others were taken down relatively quickly, so tarry not!Click here for a direct link to the contraversial pics. Rumor had it that Hasbro was really trying to keep these photos under wraps, but unfortunately now that fans around the ‘net have them safely in their hard-drives, it’s going to be more of a losing battle than it’s worth to the toy-monarchs to try to take every posting of these images down. For a change, I actually feel bad for the old company…

NSync Totals
January 7, 2002 | 7:17 PM EST | John

Totalling all of our faithful Yak-reader votes, the verdict of what you thought ofNSync being in Attack Of The Clones, even for a brief cameo, turned out to be an overwhelming landslide. With over 1800 singular votes, the total percentage equals this;

NO, I don’t want to see them in the movie AT ALL! – 97%

YES, it’d be pretty cool to see them in the flick! – 3%

Incredible! Again, thanks for all of your opinions. I really got a kick out of some of the negatory venting, especially the venting comparing the welcome return of Jar Jar opposed to seeing this five-some in the movie. The poll was slightlythrown, considering the fact that a few of the “yes” votes were like this;

“Yes, because we will be seeing them being destroyed very quickly”

So, the vote was probably closer to 98% being for no, considering the implication of the “yes” votes that took that overtone. But, all in all, it’s almost a total landslide. Take heed George! And, no nasty sneaking Brittany Spears in Episode III as Obi-Wan’s little sister! I’d have just as soon seen Gary Coleman in Return Of The Jedi squeaking “Bo Shuda? What you talkin’ ’bout Jabba…”

NSync Poll – One More Day…
January 5, 2002 | 1:47 PM EST | John

If you haven’t voted in the Yak-Interactive NSync poll, make sure your voice is heard! Remember, send your e-mail with your choice of YES or NO in the subject to John@Yakface.com, not the “news” mail address. Then, in about 24 hours, (cutoff time being midnight eastern-standard-time Sunday), I’ll tally things up once more and let you, our faithful Yak-readers, know exactly how everyone feels about the (in)famous boy-band making an appearance in Attack Of The Clones. Geesh.

AOTC Figures Images Posted!
January 5, 2002 | 1:08 AM EST | John

These are being hosted by someone else at Photo.net, and NOT by us Yakkers, we have nothing to do with these images. We are simply providing a link, so be sure to check out these images while they last! Included are images of 12 new Hasbro figures and 2 ships that will be in the up-and-comingAttack Of The Clones, so, as usual, a big spoiler warning applies. They look incredible, however, Hasbro has really outdone themselves for superior quality this time ’round. It seems that this real-scan technology works wonders! Click here before these copyright-infringing photos are removed! Thanks to FitKistofor the heads-up!

Yak-Interactive Poll – What do you think of NSync?
January 3, 2002 | 3:14 PM EST | John

Ok folks, time to speak out again. I’ve been getting some indifferent e-mail’s addressing the subject of boy-band NSync being in Episode II. I don’t need any long-winded e-mail defending or downing the band, I simply would like our Yak-readers to send me an e-mail with a YES or a NO in the subject. In other words;

YES – I think it’s cool that NSync will be making a cameo appearance in Episode II. They rock!

NO – I think they should stick to singing… if that’s what it’s called.

Got it guys and gals? Good. Not that this’ll make a bit of difference, because what the flanneled one says, goes. But let’s just do this as, shall we say, a “humanitarian interest” poll. Remember, don’t send the e-mail to the news section, send it to John@Yakface.com.

Eeth Koth & Zutton Being Found…
January 3, 2002 | 3:01 PM EST | John

We’ve been getting confirmation letters from across the nation that the newest wave of POTJ figures, Eeth Koth and Zutton, are in fact being found in K-Mart, Wal-Mart, and TRU’s. Yak-Reader Michael B. has been kind enough to send a pic from his own personal collection of these 2 new prized figures. Thanks for the pic, and to everyone who has been writing in!

NSync in Episode II?
January 3, 2002 | 2:28 PM EST | John

Yea, we here at Yak thought it was a rumor, but unfortunately it is not. Word has that popular boy-band NSync, will in fact be in Episode II as background charachters. Good news? They get blown up really fast. Bad news? Marketing galore. Can you see it now? NSync Jedi dolls, the NSync Cantina Revival Action figure multi-pack, NSync Underoos, NSync Lightsaber lip-gloss for pre-teens… “Will this madness ever end?”
Even though I’m sure they are fine singers, no, I am not really an NSync fan. However, I’m sure they will do fine as background charachters in the flick even though they have no speaking parts.
In other news… Justin Timberlake has just been commissioned to play Emperor Palpatine in Episode III. More on this as we get it….
