Clarification On Target Figure Discounts…
December 28, 2001 | 1:39 PM EST | John

Apparently the discounts are nationwide, but what is being discounted varies from store to store. I’ve gotten a lot of e-mail about this, and no two have really had the same description. Some are saying it’s just Collection One, some are saying only Collection Two. Others are reporting that it’s just certain waves that have been discounted, and others inform that it’s only certain specific figures. So, good luck when going to Target, because I really don’t think there is any rhyme or reason behind what is being discounted besides just lowering the price on whatever the local store you’re visiting has more of. Confusing, huh?

*Newsflash* The Truth About Hasbro & Episode II
December 28, 2001 | 3:17 AM EST | John

I received this information from a California Retailer with more on the news we had of the Episode II toys that we reported last week. I’ve had this e-mail for about 5 days now, and I have checked into and verified this. Now, for your reading pleasure, the final truth on the status of Hasbro’s Episode II line;

“Hasbro will not officially be releasing anything until March from their factories. The street date for E2 product is Aprill 22 2002.
As a retailer I am not even allowed to advertise that product will be on sale in store until March 22, wherein I have a source and I will have my product by April 1, Lucasfilm forbids any sale until 4-22-01
There will certainly be smuggled out figures just like with Episode I but I think Lucas is even looking into coming down hard on e-Bayers this year.

Anybody can get away with presells but not until 3-22. I am sure that there are chase figures, mail-in’s, and store exclusives on their way early and of course these will flow from the Orient early as well, but everybody needs to stop looking at Diamonds or anyone else giving us product before these dates. Even though E1 stuff appeared via Diamonds very early I got my cases from them two months after the film came out. I know everyone gets excited – I do too – but hate to tell ya, we gotta wait.”

Well, there it is. That would make the next Toy-Blitz fall on Monday, April 22nd, which means stores will probably be having the midnight thing again Sunday night into Monday. Remember, you read it here at Yak! Thanks for the information, California Retailer, and all that helped me to break this news.

Target Slashes POTJ Prices
December 28, 2001 | 3:06 AM EST | John

We’ve been getting a trickle of reports telling us that Target’s across America are cutting prices on POTJ figures by about 33%, from the normal $6.44 to between $4.00 & $4.60. This is great for those of us looking to find some Bespin Guard armies! Check those stores because the after-Christmas prices are about to hit with Force.

Dewback Droppings…
December 28, 2001 | 3:02 AM EST | John

Well, maybe I should have said that differently. The fact of the matter is, the 12″ TRU-exclusive Dewback & Sandtrooper combo has been sighted for the low price of $14.90. This is quite a steep cut from the original price of around $80. This news comes from one known only as “Joe”. Thanks for the tip-off! Don’t know if this is nationwide, or a local event, but still it’s a great deal! Joe didn’t tell us where he was from, but if there are any more sightings like this, let us know!

Army Builder Results
December 27, 2001 | 3:20 AM EST | John

Again, thank you all for writing in with your 2-cents! The poll was an incredible success! So, without further ado, the winner of our Yak-Interactive Poll is…

Astromech Droids

These little suckers accounted for slightly less than 1/2 the poll. Ideas from different domed heads to simply repaints of R2 to match the colors of Biggs, Wedge, and some others in the fleet that battled the first Death Star. No matter which way you slice it, these guys are top on every collector’s list.

Death Squad Troopers/Imperial Officers

The amazing thing about these guys was that most of the people that wrote in called them the first and most quickly changed name in Star Wars toy history, “Death Squad Commander” instead of “Star Destroyer Commander”. Also, the Imperial Officers that are most wanted are the grey and olive-colored uniforms.

Hoth Stormtroopers/Rebels

Coming in third on the tally were the ever-popular Hoth Stormtroopers, followed by Hoth Rebels. Most people that mentioned them mentioned both. These would be a hot seller as well, considering the huge battle that took place. I’d love to see them myself, but my vote would definitely go with the majority with the Astromechs.

One thing that’s clear? Collector’s DESPERATELY WANT ARMY-BUILDERS. Hasbro, I know you’re reading. Give the fans what they want. That is what makes a happy collector, whether it be a adult or a child. Other honorable mentions?

Fourth Place – Ewoks
Fifth Place – Droids
(Not just astromechs, but protocol/gonks/mouse/etc.)
Sixth Place – Tusken Raiders
Seventh Place – The Queen’s Handmaidens
Eigth Place – Gungans

Army Builder Yak-Tallies Coming Soon…
December 27, 2001 | 12:41 AM EST | John

Well folks, you’ve spoken your mind on exactly what you wanted to see with the Army Builders, and I’m liking what I’m hearing! You guys are just being incredibly creative in your ideas. So, I’ve got to sit here and tally up all the votes and probably within the next couple of hours the results will be posted. I’ve got about 800-plus e-mails to filter through, but a lot of them are of the same minds so it shouldn’t take me all too long. Thanks for making this such a success, and as always, thanks for coming to Yak for your Star Wars news! Standby…

C-3PO Masterpiece Spotted Very Cheap
December 27, 2001 | 12:36 AM EST | John

Scott A., who happens to be a very good friend of mine, wrote to me today to report the following good news about an awesome “Borders” find;

“Just wanted to let you know that I found A Star Wars Masterpiece Edition C-3PO at Border’s bookstore for a low price of $19.99 Regular price $75.00) I’m sure all the other Yakker’s out there would love to add this to their collection.”

Thanks Scott! Good luck on the hunt for this one folks, that’s one heck of a deep discount!

Got Clearance Day Finds?
December 26, 2001 | 4:39 AM EST | Adam

Seeing as this is the busiest clearance shopping day of the year, there’s going to be at least a few good deals out there. Once again, we’d love your reports from the trenches– if you scare up something awesome, please let us know so we can share with the rest of the class.

With Target marking their 12″ figures down to $14.99 or less in recent weeks, odds are quite a few of us are going to have a very merry AFTER Christmas toy run…

E2 Preview Images (Again)
December 26, 2001 | 4:36 AM EST | Adam

German site 4 Inches has a pair of Episode Two figure images up in their “Figuren auf Karte” section. One is an unpackaged image of a minor E2 character, another is the oft-seen image from Hasbro of a new Obi-Wan. If you haven’t seen them, it’s new to you, so assuming they’re still up, you know the drill. Since the site is mostly in German, odds are spoilers– if there are any– aren’t going to be something you’ll notice.

Got a Faamba!
December 24, 2001 | 1:32 AM EST | John

Man, for me casually posting that I needed a Faamba, I am really impressed with all the kind responses, so I will thank all the people that wrote me with an offer to pick one up right here and now. Thank you! I took Scott M. up on the offer, he was actually the first to write, and I want to give him a Super-Yak-Thanks! Having so many offer to do some good makes this ol’ reporter feel like there may be some hope for the hobby out there yet. With the gushy stuff out of the way, I now return you to the actual news…

Star Wars Figures 20 Cents At Wal-Mart
December 23, 2001 | 10:08 PM EST | Bill

Yak Reader Tim Webmaster of Sebulbashack.com sent an a very interesting piece of news. “On Friday the 21st, I drove to my local Wal*Mart, the store I used to work at, and I ended up buying some Star Wars figures, and when the cashier rang them up, I was totally shocked by the great price, this is something you’ve just got to see. I could of wiped the pegs clean, but the left-overs were nothing but Ketwol.” He added a scan of the receipt confirming his find. If anyone knows if this is limited to one store, state, region, etc., let us know! For more information and a scan of the receipt to see Tim’s site

More Strange Finds At TRU
December 23, 2001 | 1:29 AM EST | John

Strange things are afoot. Yak-reader and all-around Star Wars figure collector “Brandon B” writes us with this tale of TRU finds;

“I had an interesting find today in my local Toy’s R Us store in Peoria, Illinois. This particular store has not had hardly any product over the past few months with the exception of the 12″ Dewback and some older POTJ figs. Today I came across the newest FX-7 wave WITH 6 300’th Boba Fett figures in the FIRST release packaging. I was under the impression this figure was long gone. They also had one complete set of the Fan Club 4 there also. Was not sure if this is showing up at other stores.”

Yes, oddball cases will sometimes get shoved to the back of the warehouse, and then months down the road show up occasionally in retail as such in this case with the original Fett packaging, (they’re all labeled “Boba Fett 300” so there’s no point to pull the stock or ship out certain cases before others, they’re all just “Boba Fett 300” to the warehouses). But, the Fan Club 4… That is indeed odd. First the Lando wave showing up again, and now this. Keep your eyes peeled folks. It’s that time of year again!

More on those “Preview” figures in January…
December 23, 2001 | 1:22 AM EST | John

This is getting rediculous! If I didn’t know better, it would seem that Diamond Distributors were trying to pull a coolie on unsuspecting dealers and trying to dump some dead stock. Check this one out from “Brian in Galax”;

“My local hobby shop (D&J Hobby in Galax, Va.) ordered the so-called
“Preview” case from Diamonds in October. Last week, the store’s sales rep at Diamonds told the owner of the store that an “Episode II Preview” case was arriving on Wednesday. What he actually received was 3 cases of Aurra Sings, Jedi Training Obi-Wans, Mechanic Chewies, etc. On the packing slip/invoice is clearly states “Ep. II Preview Assortment.” When the owner contacted Diamonds, they originally refused to allow him to return the cases for credit! Needless to say, there was much disappointment all around. Everything has been straighted out, but it still seems odd that there was so little communication between Hasbro, Diamonds and the dealers in this case.”

Yes, Brian, it does seem strange indeed. I’m not trying to make too big a deal over this, but I figure it is newsworthy, and if it can save some small dealer from making the same mistake, it’s worth posting. Just as a word of caution to all, don’t buy any cases listed as “Preview” figures until you see that they are being officially released via the Official Hasbro Site or pages such as ours right here. It’d be horrible to be stuck with a solid case of Mechanic Chewbacca’s, wouldn’t it? …unless you want an intergalactic army of Wookiee mechanics…

Target 12″ Deals
December 23, 2001 | 1:14 AM EST | John

“Kenny T.” sends us this cool Target information on 12″ Figures;

“I went into my local TARGET in LEVITTOWN, LONG ISLAND and wanted to pick up an extra 12″ DEATH STAR TROOPER and i went to scan the price and it scanned at $10.40!!! half price from the original shelf tag! Then, i proceeded to check out the 12″ LUKE W/ SPEEDER BIG and this one came up a whopping $27.90!!! Half the price from its initial release! (well,almost half)”

Wow! What a deal! Keep watching out there, Yakkers, you never know what you’re going to find! Thanks for the report, Kenny!

What other army builders would you like to see?
December 22, 2001 | 3:48 AM EST | John

With the onset of the Stormtrooper Fan Club 4-pack, I was wondering what other kind of army builders all the faithful Yakkers out there would like to see? I won’t list any suggestions here because I’d like you, the reader, to use his/her imagination. Remember, when I say “army” builders, I mean just “a lot of for a diorama”, not necessarily fighters or troops. Please, only one idea per e-mail, and send your ideas to me, John@Yakface.Com, not the general news address. Then, in a week or so, I’ll post the top 3 requested multi-packs, along with some honorable mentions. This should be an interesting experiment!

Racer Revenge For PS2 Now Showing
December 22, 2001 | 2:02 AM EST | John

LucasArts has made the upcoming PS2’s Racer Revenge game trailer available for download at the official LucasArts site. The game looks nice, and seems to be shaping up to be a suitable sequel for the Original “Star Wars-Racer” that was released most notably for the N64 in 1999, (and is still available for that platform for around and about $10 at most stores).Check it out! The game is simply scheduled as “due for release in 2002”.

Fan Films Recognized At Celebration II
December 22, 2001 | 1:33 AM EST | John

StarWars.com has posted an article involving all the fan films popping up over the past few years… and apparently Lucas likes them. The Fan-Film awards will be given during the Celebration II which is being held May 3 through 5 2002, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Original productions that qualify as finalists will compete for top honors, including an award picked by George Lucas himself, so you know there’ll be some stiff competition.

If you’ve never gotten into the Fan Films, you just have to check outTheForce.net’s Fan-Film Theater. Excellent stuff over there, folks! And, a lot of these are probably going to be contending for top honors at the Celebration II. Some personal favorites? “The Empire Strikes Backyard”, “Duality”, “Bounty Trail”, and you’ve got to see “The Invisible Enemy”, (a mix between ROTJ and Predator with a comedic twist). Happy downloading!

X-Box’s Obi-Wan Hits Best Buy December 22
December 22, 2001 | 1:16 AM EST | John

Kind Best Buy Inventory Supervisor “Ted B.” writes us to verify that there will be many happy Jedi out there today… that is if you’re looking forward to playing LucasArts “Obi-Wan” for the X-Box. He writes;

“I am the inventory supervisor for the Florence, KY Best Buy and I wanted to let you know that we received our copies of “Obi-Wan” today and they will hit the sales floor tomorrow morning. Good luck!

Thanks Ted, and good luck to all on finding this game!

FAO Schwarz Faamba Bottoms Out
December 22, 2001 | 1:11 AM EST | John

Yak-Reader “Paul M.” sends us this final news on the route of the Faamba;

“The FAO Schwarz in Menlo Park Mall in Edison, NJ is closing and their exclusive Faamba with Gungan warrior rings in at $15.00 at the register. There are many pieces of this item as well, approximately 40-50 units.”

Thanks for the information, Paul. Any chance of someone grabbing me, (John), one of these babies for that price? E-mail me if it wouldn’t be going out of your way. There are absolutely no FAO’s in my area of the USA. Thanks again Yakkers!

Episode II Figures In January – The Final Word
December 21, 2001 | 1:08 PM EST | John

Mark of M and M Collectibles has graciously supplied us with this information;

“You may want the real scoop on this from an actual dealer of Diamond Comics. (Which we are). This was a mistake that they told us about. These are not going to be Episode II figures but one of the later assortments of Power of the Jedi. In fact, I checked on this last night and our order of them is shipping to us next week. More than likely it is the FX-7 wave or the Snaggletooth wave.
They WILL NOT be Episode II preview figures. Hasbro is going to have an assortment of preview figures, but they won’t be out until 2002.”

Thanks so much for clearing that up for everyone Mark! So, the post at The Galactic Senate was invalid, which I kind of figured from the beginning. Fear not folks, we will see Episode II preview figures, but according to sources, they will probably start showing up around late March and not January.

Expanded Universe Charachter In Episode II
December 21, 2001 | 2:09 AM EST | John

StarWars.com is reporting news that leads the reader to believe that the charachter Aayla Secura, a blue-skinned Twi-lek female Jedi, might be making a minor appearance in Episode II! This would be the second time Lucas has used the influence of the Expanded Universe for insertion into the Trilogies, (the first being Dash Rendar’s Outrider in the skies of Mos Eisley). Click here to read the entire article.

More On The Episode II – January Figures
December 21, 2001 | 1:46 AM EST | John

A big Yak Thanks to Yak-Reader “Steve G.” who pointed our attention to this Diamond Comics Distributor’s List which has this entry for what looks to be like an October ordering deadline for “Pre-Episode II” figures. It reads like this;

OCT013365 STAR WARS PRE EPISODE II FIGURE PI

Now, figuring that you’d have to order by October, January shipment wouldn’t be a far cry from what we’re seeing. But, is the Episode II list I’d mentioned as posted at The Galactic Senate one of these assortments of figures, and why did Hasbro pick a date as early as January even for a “preview” figure. Another thing is, why would they devote an entire case to just one figure? Spoiler warning applies to all links in this article, so again, if you’re spoiler concious, BEWARE!!! As our faithful readers, you’ll know as soon as we know. Stay tuned for this breaking story…

Episode II Figures… In January?
December 20, 2001 | 8:09 PM EST | John

A post over atThe Galactic Senate is claiming that there are to be 2 case assortments of Episode II figures released in January. I might state here and now that this is a HUGE RUMOR until we, here at Yakface.com, can confirm this. If this is in fact the case, I would like absolute proof of this. Would the person who posted this at The Galactic Senate please e-mail me, and we can talk. You will be assured to remain completely and safely anonymous in any news postings! Remember, any e-mails received that cannot provide proof will be deleted immediately, so no fakers. If this is in fact the truth, this will be a first for any Star Wars toys. Remember, this carries a huge spoiler warning, so those who are wary, stay away!!! No pictures, just alleged case assortment lists.

FAO Closure
December 20, 2001 | 3:22 AM EST | Adam

While not exclusively Star Wars, this news might interest some of you.

The Scottsdale Fashion Square FAO Schwarz (Arizona) store is closing its doors once and for all, with all product marked down 50%-75%. Not surprisingly, there’s still a lot of Episode One merchandise still available.

If you’re still in need, there’s various puppets and plushes of Jar Jar and Watto, some Tatooine accessory packs, suction-cup vehicles from Applause ($1 per), and, of course, the obligatory glut of CommTech readers, only $3 each.

Other figure-related items of note included Alien: Ressurection’s Call (Winona Ryder) at $3 and a big box of Universal Monsters Little Bigheads for $30.

Now, we return you to something of actual significance.

December 19, 2001 | 1:49 PM EST | John

StarWars.com has just posted some images of greeting cards that Lucasfilm will be sending to their employees/affiliates this 2001 holiday season. Chances are that us as the masses will never see these in our mailboxes or collections, but they’re still quite interesting to see what those important few will be receiving this year. Click on over to check these out!

R4-M9 Image @ Hasbro.com
December 19, 2001 | 1:31 PM EST | John

This new figure looks super! Finally we’re getting an Astomech that’s not an R2-D2 repaint or an R5-arsenal. Hasbro.com has posted a nice image of R4-M9 for us all to gawk at. It looks like it has the same mouse droid included as the old Fan Club 4 exclusive Death Star Droid, so there’s a bit of a reissue, but hey, a new Astromech is a new Astromech! Click here to see this beautiful new piece of 3-inch plastic! Now, if Hasbro would only make a 4-pack of different sculpts with these babies…

Celine Song Debunked…
December 18, 2001 | 1:30 PM EST | John

…but now we must worry about N’Sync. If you missed the post below, Celine Dion was rumored to be singing a song for Episode 2, which was quickly debunked. Another rumor flying around now is that N’Sync will be in the background of some battle scenes as Jedi. Oh puh-leese. Check outTheForce.net for more on these humor/rumors.

FX-7, Lando & Deluxe, oh my!
December 18, 2001 | 1:21 PM EST | John

We, here at Yak, have been getting reports dribbling in over the last few days, and I’d like to actually post the news as a conglomerate, considering it’s been coming in that way. Ok, here goes;

Deluxe Wave II

The Deluxe Wave 2 Amanaman and Leia with the Sail Barge Cannon have been popping up all over creation. We’ve had sightings in about 20 states that have been sent to us including Kansas, Ohio, California, Florida, and South Carolina, (off the top of my head).

FX-7 Wave

The FX-7 Wave seems to be hitting in force as well. A lot of people are finding either the entire wave or remenants of the wave, (myself incuded, finding only the Amidala Black Travel Gown buried at the bottom of a really poor Star Wars set-up in The Super Wal-Mart in Stroudsburg, PA).

Return Of The Smoothie

The surprise of all these reports? The Lando Wave seems to be popping up in abundance in many reports we’ve received. This is really good news considering the scarcity of this set last summer. Goes to show you that patience pays, and not to bow down to those slimy scalpers and their inflated prices.

Stay On Target…

The Target exclusive Luke with Speeder Bike 12″ seems to be bottoming out for now at around and about $30 to $40, depending on your location. I figured that one wouldn’t go too hot considering that just last year we shelled out the cash and got the Biker Scout. How about that 12″ scale Jabba that was rumored? That would have flown off the shelves. But, in their wisdom, Hasbro saw fit to give us the same speeder bike and another incarnation of Luke. I see the logic…

Thanks to everyone that wrote in about where and when they found the above items. All of us here at Yak really appreciate your intelligable e-mails. And, don’t forget that when writing to us not to forget to mention where you found these items. Thanks folks!

Michael Stackpole In Trouble…
December 18, 2001 | 1:08 PM EST | John

Faithful Yak-Reader “Todd M.” writes us with disturbing news that had been highlighted on TheForce.net about a week or so ago, but I think it merits another mention considering he’s one of the top Star Wars writers out there today. Todd writes;

“You have probably seen this post from TheForce.net or Stackpole’s website, but in case you haven’t, Mike Stackpole is saying he needs help, or he will not be able to continue writing novels. Click here for details.”

I know that writing is a tough business, but this guy is established as creating some of the Star Wars Expanded Universe continuum. Do what you can to support our fellow enthusiast, and check out the above link.

12″ Dewbacks Still Slouching About
December 17, 2001 | 12:32 PM EST | John

We’ve been getting reports from all around the nation about the 12″ Dewbacks still making it to retail in fresh cases, the most recent being from “Kevin C.” who tells us the shelves in the Princeton, NJ TRU are stock full. I, for one, have seen loads of these at my Allentown, PA and the Phillipsburg, NJ TRU’S that I frequent. I’ve heard of them going for anywhere from full price to a measily $18. So, my point folks, if you still need this, get out there and get it. But please, shop around and find the best price.

Celine Dion Music In Episode II?!
December 17, 2001 | 12:23 PM EST | John

This scoop comes from TheForce.net. Seems that they can’t confirm or deny this, but what they’re hearing is that a Celine Dion song entitled “That Man in My Life” will be featured in Episode II highlighting a certain romance that will be happening in the film. It is still be treated as a bigrumor, but all the information is listed at the site. In this reporters opinion, I think it may ruin the film if it would be true, (even though she’s a very talented singer, it may not be quite right for a Star Wars film). Time will tell…

New Figures Update
December 16, 2001 | 12:02 PM EST | Bill

This will be the last update on the FX-7 wave, since it appears they are hitting across the country.

Some Wal-Marts are selling the FX-7 wave for far below normal retail. Yak Reader mnichols2001 found a whole bunch of the FX-7
wave for just $4.00! What a buy for these sought after figures for far below usual retail. Yak Reader Paul wrote that he “found a case of the FX-7 wave at a Walmart in Niagara Falls NY. The case did not last long enough to make it to the shelf. After i pulled it off of the pallet and opened it up, i scanned one of the figures and it rang up 50 cents!!!!! Needless to say i bought 7 of the 12 on the spot. Another guy came along and grabbed the other 5. We made off like bandits!!! We dont know if they marked them down wrong or they were supposed to be clearance items, but i have NEVER paid 50 cents for a Star Wars figure in 22 years!! At the same Walmart, i also found a case of the 12″ Luke w/ Yodas. Those were going for $29.83. I went to another Walmart in Amherst NY, about 15 miles away from the one in Niagara Falls, and found some of the same FX-7 wave figures for $3.00!!! Great Hunting, Huh??” Thanks to JediJake and everyone else who sent in these reports!

Dark Horse Talks About March 2002 Comics…
December 13, 2001 | 1:04 AM EST | John

Dark Horse Comics has listed their March 2002 Star Wars releases, and it looks like it’s shaping up to be pretty nice!
Star Wars Tales # 11 will devote an entire issue to our favorite smuggler, Han Solo. He will, of course, be getting into trouble and back out again, as Han has become notorious for. Look for this one on March 11th.

The final installment of Star Wars: Starfighter – Crossbones will also debut in March, and promises to be a great finally to this 3-part series. This puppy is scheduled to be released on March 13th.

Another comic that looks like it’s shaping up to be pretty good is Star Wars # 40. In this first part of a 2-part series entitled “The Devaronian Version”, we meet Vilmahr Grahrk who tells the tale of why he’s hanging around a nasty Jedi. Interesting… Look for this one March 20th.

And, last but not least, comes the second part of a 2-part series called“Star Wars: Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan – The Aurorient Express”. They have 43 minutes to set the day right, and that’s a challenge for even our fave Jedi duo. March 27th is when you should find this one.

So folks, the pre-prequel comics are still looking good! Keep an eye out for these babies, hot off the press! If you want to check out the official release at StarWars.com, click here.

POTJ Take Price Plunge In Canadian TRU’s
December 12, 2001 | 12:34 PM EST | John

Randy, a Canadian Yakker, writes us with this info;

“The local Toys R’Us has just reduced it’s price on 3 3/4″ Star Wars POTJ figures from a whopping $11.99 to $7.98 each. This now means that TRU has a lower price than both Wal-Mart and Zellers. I’ve been informed that all TRU stores across Canada will be setting these new prices.”

That’s wonderful, and quite a decent discount for our friends to the north! Is this a country-wide occurence, or an isolated incident?

Jabba Article at X-Entertainment
December 10, 2001 | 3:15 PM EST | Adam

Fantastic pop/junk culture site X-Entertainment has posted another great feature on Star Wars, this time, focusing on Jabba. If you’re a product of ’80’s toy culture, this site is well worth a read.

Please note, X-Entertainment features language of a not-G-rated nature, so people easily offended to the point where they shouldn’t be online in the first place and youngsters who can’t read yet, take note.

(Unfortunately, he missed a few Jabba toys in the feature, but you aren’t reading this article for the educational value.)

Episode II Lego Poster
December 8, 2001 | 1:34 PM EST | John

TheForce.net currently has a poster posted that depicts the new Lego line coming out for Episode II. There’s not too much to see really, other than a new spaceship. The foreground shadowed charachter is Obi-Wan, so that’s not too much of a spoiler either, but it’s cool nonetheless. It’s still something to tide us over until the 2002 midnight blitz! Click here to visit and see this new eye-candy. Remember, if you’re really spoiler sensative, stay away!!!

UPDATE – As some of our more astute readers have noticed, the picture of the shadowed charachter seems to be Anakin. Sorry for any confusion. I’ve always been a big Obi-Wan fan so I guess I just took it as a foregone conclusion.

Episode II Figure Scans!
December 8, 2001 | 12:41 AM EST | John

Collect Star Wars has posted a bunch of images from a toy catalog of a load of the upcoming Episode II toys!!! Remember, this carries a heftySPOILER warning, so spoiler-sensative collectors, be aware! You have been warned! Nice stuff however, including the new range of figures labeled Generation Y that seems to be geared at the emerging teen market of Star Wars fans. Imagine Todd McFarlane meeting Hasbro Star Wars. That line will transcend all 5 movies it seems. But, get over there before the powers that be (Lucas Inc.) has these images revoked. It’s almost a sure bet.

Wal-Mart Dagobah Luke & Yoda Continue to Show Up
December 7, 2001 | 11:18 PM EST | Adam

In case you’ve strayed from the stores, now might be a good time to look around for the new exclusive 12″ two-pack. For $29.96 (give or take a few pennies), you can get the pair in a rather nice box. (Even though Yoda’s face detailling looks pretty awful.)

A local Wal-Mart had nine pieces on Monday and had one left tonight, so they’re not selling as fast as some previous exclusives. But if you’re in need of a present for someone you really care about– i.e., you– now’s a good time to go a-shoppin’.

More Lucas Auction For America Items
December 5, 2001 | 12:32 AM EST | John

A big Yak thanks goes to “Obi-Shawn” from ShawnandColleen.Com for sending us this information. He writes;

“According to my local SoCal CBS News Radio station KNX 1070, Lucasfilm is parting with some choice items from the archives. Starting tomorrow, Lucasfilm will be auctioning off items in eBay’s
“Auction for America” category. The username seems to be “LucasfilmLtd”, and the first Item appears to be an ILM assembled/detailed Anakin Podracer model. Click here to view this auction.

Soon to follow are an autographed Stormtrooper helmet from ESB (Lucas
signed), a Darth Maul double-bladed saber, and more.”

Thanks again for the information, Obi-Shawn! Looks like some really good stuff is going up for auction there, and it’s for a great cause. So, if you can, bid and give freely to this worth-while fund.

Over at Pegwarmer.com they have posted what appears to be a variation on the Palm Talker C-3PO. The first version was a dull gold color, almost a flat gold paint, while the newer one being spotted has a nice gold luster to it and is much brighter. Quite an improvement. Here’s another one for all you variation hunters out there, good luck!

12″ Luke And Yoda FOUND!!!
December 3, 2001 | 9:27 PM EST | Bill

It finally happened!!!! The Wal-Mart exclusive 12″ Luke and Yoda are appearing. The news it even better– we have multiple reports from several different states:

Cathedral City Walmart, next to Palm Springs in Southern
California– Yak Reader MachoFrijol

Phoenix,AZ at Wal-Mart on 59th Ave. and Bell Road –SlugBoyJabba
Here is MachoFrijol’s review:

I just came form my Walmart and they have the new 12 inch look Skywalker with Yoda. It looks great! I didn’t know that the front was dome shaped! It is awesome! The price is $28.98 and I am the proud owner of Two! One for the old collection and one for opening! Luke’s fatigues are an exact replica of those in the film and Yoda’s expression is classic! I think this is the best 12 inch figure to date!

Episode 1 Figures That Never Were Released
December 1, 2001 | 11:56 PM EST | Bill

Adam over at the Trade Federation has added to his End of the Line section with detailed photos of two two-packs which were planned for the Episode 1 line which never saw the light of day. The two-packs are Jar Jar vs. a Destroyer Droid and Qui-Gon Jinn vs. a Battle Droid. These two packs look incredible, and I’d love to see them released at some point, but rightnow it looks very unlikely. Click here for more.
