Impressive, most impressive.

Or, this could be titled – the right place at the right time. I ran to Walmart this morning to pick up a LeapPad title that was on sale for $8.88 for my son. Decided to hit the Star Wars section (just in case) – and what do I see on the front of one of the pegs dead center? A TARGET super articulated Clone Trooper – and for $5.88…..my lucky day!

Speaking of Sideshow….
July 29, 2005 | 3:51 PM EST | Mark B
Ok, the results are in. Here are your top 5 most requested Sideshow 12″ Action figures (thanks to all that wrote in, I’ll be doing the drawing this weekend).
5. R2D2 with all the movie attachments
4. A realistic Chewbacca
3. Darth Vader (that’s a duh…)
2. 501st Clonetrooper
1. Boba Fett
I’ll send these along to Sideshow and hopefully we’ll end up seeing them all made!
And You Were Excited About the Sideshow 12″?
July 29, 2005 | 3:49 PM EST | Mark B
Check it out! StarWarsShop.com has 2 of Medicom’s Real Action Figure items up for sale. Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker are available. To give you an idea of how great these things are….Vader has 24 Points of articulation…The Hasbro Vader has what? 5, 6? These are probably the most detailed 12″ Star Wars figures you’ll find (until the Sideshow ones come out!).
Target Micro Turbo Tank And More
July 29, 2005 | 8:13 AM EST | Scott
Yak reader Jedi Jones has been busy, busy, busy. As you can tell by his extensive store report. Check it out…
“Hi, guys, I hadn’t heard of the Target exclusive Turbo Tank Battle Set
being found yet, so I thought I’d send you a picture. I found it at Target in Dickson City, PA on Thursday. I bought one and left another one on the shelf.
Other sightings in northeastern Pennsylvania this week include:
new Target exclusive ROTS Micro vehicle packs
Target exclusive Han/Yoda/Fett cups on clearance and tagged “AS IS” for
$1.96 (they went fast at Wilkes-Barre Target, definitely a screw up
because the UPCs for these cups STILL aren’t in Target’s system in Dickson City where they’re still on the shelf with a full price tag)
TRU exclusive blue Obi-Wan Starfighter
Jedi vs. Sith Battle Pack (I passed on it at Target’s non-competitive
$24.99 price)
Anakin Evolutions (Wal-Mart), 500th Vader (everywhere but TRU), Wookiee Flyer (Target), Build Your Own Lightsabers in a variant box with a new light blue interior tray (Toys “R” Us, original dark blue tray at Target), Unleashed Asajj Ventress (Target), ROTS 51-53 (Target)
ROTS 54-55 and some repaint clones (Wal-Mart)
Not to mention Grievous Energy Beam Blaster is everywhere now plus
stores have restocked electronic lightsabers, small lightsabers, Darth Tater,
Galactic Heroes, and $20 vehicles. Now how about some more Deluxe
Clones and Gunships, Hasbro?
Looks like the Target reset is really pushing a lot of stuff out of the
pipeline and stores are beginning to go back to Star Wars after the
mostly artificial Batman and F4 hype has faded away fast. Stores seem to have realized which is the line they need to get behind for the rest of this
year through Christmas.

New Poll – Your Thoughts On Imperial Idol
July 26, 2005 | 12:28 AM EST | Scott
Now that Imperial Idol is over, what did you think? Did you think it was a fun way for us to hand out prizes or was it more trouble than it was worth? With some tweaking, would you like to see another contest, or should we not “quit our day job” so to speak and just stick to doing the news?
Our new poll asks just those questions. Your feedback may determine whether or not we try something like it again. We’ve always got goodies to give away, question is, how would you like us to give them to you? Vote today!
Also, if you’d like to CONTACT ME and let me know your thoughts via email, I’d appreciate any feedback you have to offer. Be brutal, I’m a big boy, I can take it!
Imperial Idol – THE WINNERS!
July 25, 2005 | 9:49 PM EST | Scott

BBQ Ewok has been declared the 1st place winner of Imperial Idol! and will take away the Celebration III Exclusive Darth Vader Figure.
Sith Pimp comes in 2nd and takes home the Limited Edition Silver Vader Giant PEZ Dispenser. Oola-la is our 3rd place finisher and will be awarded the 500th Edition Vader Figure. And last but certianly not least,Mystery Sith Theaterfinishes 4th and scores the elusive Burger King “Secret of Darth Vader” chase figure.
Congratulations to all our finalists.
Before I get a flood of emails let me say right here and now that yes, we are fully aware that there were some bumps along the road in this contest and there were most definitely things that we could have done differently. We set out to find a fun and creative way to distribute the prizes we had so we hope we achieved some degree of success on that score.
This was our first attempt at a contest like this, so hopefully any bugs there might have been will get worked out the next time around.
I personally want to thank everyone who participated in Imperial Idol. You were all such good sports and really threw yourselves into this project.
Finally, to those who may feel that their hard work went unnoticed, unrecognized or unappreciated, all I can say is nothing could be further from the truth. Every entry we got was outstanding and greatly appreciated. If I could have given everyone a prize, I certianly would have.
Thanks to all!

July 25, 2005 | 11:09 AM EST | Scott
We had a couple Yak readers write in to let us know about some productive toy runs they had over the weekend. First up we have Brian M….
“I also had a nice weekend after a long dry run.
Friday afternoon: Kmart, Chico CA – 500th Vader
Saturday evening: Walmart, Chico CA – 1 Case 85173A00D
with Shocktrooper, Clone Commander (Green), Obi-Wan Pilot,
and AT-RT Driver (1 each), plus 2 Vader and 6 other restock
figures (Yoda, General Grevious, Commander Bacara, Super-posable Clone Trooper, etc.)
Sunday morning: Target, Yuba City CA – 3 each #51,52,53 (bought a set for me, plus two more sets for friends)
Sunday afternoon: Target, Sacramento CA – They had 22 Captain Antilles figures hanging on the pegs as well as that many or more Utapaun Warrior’s and Zett Jukassa’s… would have been stoked if didn’t just find them in Yuba City. They also had about a dozen Wookie Flyers…
Sunday evening: Kmart, Yuba City CA – Anakin to Vader Evolution set (friend called me and told me Chico Kmart had them today, so I stopped and found one hidden in Yuba City)/.
Monday 12am: Walmart, Chico CA – At least six more cases like the one I found last night (Shocktrooper Case: Collection 1, Wave 6, Revision 3).
Phew!
Brian M

Is Your Area Experiencing A Drought?
July 21, 2005 | 8:53 PM EST | Bill
Regardless of whether you loved it (and your pocketbook hated it), or managed to tune it out, we’ve been spoiled by a flood of Star Wars toys of Biblical proportions for the last four months. We’ve been getting a number of Emails from Yak Readers concerned about the usual post movie pronouncement from employees/stockers at retail stores– saying that Star Wars is over and they won’t be stocking it any more. DO NOT PANIC…… MORE TOYS ARE COMING…. Yes, the amount of shelf/peg space allocated to Star Wars will be returning to “normal” but it isn’t leaving the big brick retailers any time soon. In fact a little bird let me know that Toys R Us computers show LOTS of basic figures on order into the warehouse which will be headed straight out to retail. Because the warehouses have gotten sold through, this means when we start seeing more items hitting, they should be NEW stuff. Hang in there.
Imperial Idol – It’s A Horserace!
July 21, 2005 | 5:37 PM EST | Scott

The voting ends Monday, July 25 at 7pm E.S.T.

Comic-Con Freebie

Sideshow was nice enough to hook me up with a few of their Comic-Con give-aways – a really cool pewter keychain with the Sideshow logo on one side, the Star Wars logo on the other. So, I want to give these away to YOU, our loyal Yakface readers. In order to make it fair, and thank Sideshow in the process, I want to make you work for it a little. As you may have read –
With that in mind, I want you to let Sideshow know who you would like to see made in their new 12″ Line. Send me an email at THIS ADDRESS titled “Sideshow Giveaway” with a list of the top 5 figures you would like to see made. Include your name and address. 3 Day Blinds New Episode III Collection
July 15, 2005 | 2:43 PM EST | Keri
Over at 3 Day Blinds website, you can view their all new collection of Episode III images on blinds. They have a very large selection to choose from, including some great 501st Clone Trooper images as well as classic Vader and Yoda. Other designs are more in the anime-style and look very cool too for fans young and old looking to spruce up any room of the house. Each blind is custom made to fit the measurements from your specific window, so the fitment is superb. Though the price may be a little more than other window treatments, no other company can boast the variety of images 3 Day Blinds gives their customers. I personally own 1 of their blinds in my bedroom and plan on buying another very soon for another window in my home. Not only do they look great, the product quality is very high.
Click on through here to see their new Episode III Collection of blinds.
Tatooine-like Planet Discovered
July 15, 2005 | 2:35 PM EST | Keri
At www.cnn.com there is a report regarding the newest finding of a planet with not one or two, but three suns. This newest planet, outside our very own Solar System challenges the way scientists believe how planets are formed. It was theorized that dust orbiting a single sun formed into a planet. The planet with three suns certainly puts that theory to the test with its three suns. Perhaps, in that galaxy far, far away…..well you know the rest!
You can read all the details regarding the planet by clicking here.

Revenge of the Sith DVD in HD?
July 14, 2005 | 1:23 PM EST | Keri
An interesting technology article on Yahoo News points to the possibility of Revenge of the Sith’s DVD release to be in High-Definition. As we all know, the film was shot digitally, as was Attack of the Clones. Since we are now living in a truly digital age, more and more movie theaters are scrambling to add digital projectors to their line-up, hoping to coax people away from their digital gadgets at home. The article goes on to mention the development of 3-D technologies by ILM which will soon have demos of Attack of the Clones and A New Hope to show. Also discussed is the rollout of 2,500 Digital screens in a two year time period.
You may read the entire article on Yahoo News by clicking here.
The SITH “Apprentice”
July 14, 2005 | 1:00 PM EST | Scott
I suppose it was only a matter of time…
From TV Guide.com…
“SITH SENSE: Donald Trump has hired Star Wars mastermind George Lucas to appear in the upcoming fourth season of The Apprentice. According to Advertising Age, Lucas will decide which team comes up with the better concept to promote the DVD for Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith. A lightsabre duel between Omarosa and Ereka Vitrini, perhaps?”
Thanks to Yak reader Peter for the heads-up on this one.

Turbo Tank Driver Gets Name Change
July 14, 2005 | 11:27 AM EST | Jayson
From some of the Comic-Con photos I’ve seen circulating the web, namely fromGalacticHunter.com, Hasbro has quietly updated the packaging of the previously named “Turbo Tank Driver” to the AT-RT Driver. Maybe someone over at the“BIG H” noticed that the sculpt & deco looked very similar to a pack-in figure they produced for their vehicle line. What’s cool about him now is that he has interchangeable chest armor! One with battle damage and one without. Now why couldn’t they have done that with the #41 Clone Trooper?

More Sith Battle Packs & Evolution Sets Found
July 13, 2005 | 12:10 PM EST | Jayson
This in from Yak Reader Amanamango John –
I picked up the Sith Battle Pack and Anakin Evolution sets at K-Mart (Rockford, IL) last night. Asajj and Anakin in the battle pack are both retooled figures with many changes. Asajj has a new torso, and new arms with swivel elbows instead of wrists. Plus the skirting is much different than the CW version. Anakin is almost entirely a new sculpt. The new paint schemes are great, except Anakin has purple lipstick on. Obi-Wan also has several small holes for the trooper armor to snap into. Yoda and Grievous remain about the same as older releases. I thought you might want to know that this set isn’t entirely just a bunch of repaints.
Great finds! But too bad about Anakin’s lipstick… Padme will surely have some questions.
Black Variant Clone Pilot
July 13, 2005 | 9:04 AM EST | Jayson
The team from GalacticHunter.com have updated this morning with news on a possible solution to all those #34 Clone Pilots warming the shelves at our favorite retailers. They have a carded shot of a Black Uniformed Clone Pilot which is an obvious allusion to the TIE Pilots of the Original Trilogy. Personally, I like this version a lot better! Head on over to GalacticHunter.com to check it out!
Sideshow at Comic-Con
July 13, 2005 | 8:59 AM EST | Mark B
Sideshow Collectibles will be showing their new 1/4 scale Obi-Wan Kenobi starting tonight at the San Diego Comic Con (don’t forget to pick up your Comic-Con exclusives that you preordered – starting tomorrow).
Look for quite a few new product announcements from them as well. Including the first of their new line of FULL SIZE Star Wars busts. The first is going to be announced at Comic-Con (we’ll have details as soon as Sideshow makes them official), but I’ll tell you, the one they are starting with is an absolutely INCREDIBLE piece. I’ve talked to people who have seen it, and it is amazing. Its going to retail for around $600, but will be well worth it.
Battle Pack Fotos!
July 12, 2005 | 5:25 PM EST | Jayson
The diminutive scavengers over at TheJawa.com have updated today with boxed front and back images of the Assault on Hoth and Jedi Temple Assault Battle Packs. While neither of them contain new sculpts, most of the figures have added paint opps. Go check’em out.
Target Vader at Disneyland
July 12, 2005 | 1:52 PM EST | Jayson

From Yak reader Bill…
Just thought I’d pass this along but I was at Disney for the last two weeks of Star Wars Weekends and at the new toy store at Downtown Disney I happened to be at the Star Wars section when a Disney Cast Member brought out around 10 Target Lava Vaders without the clamshell the figures were all C-10 and were selling for $10. What really stinks is I bought one on Scalper-Bay a few days befor I left to go on vacation. I left all but the one I bought for my 5 year old.
Way to not be a hoarder Bill!
Target Clone In Stores again?
July 12, 2005 | 12:41 PM EST | Jayson
This came in on Friday from JediChris from the Badger State…
“Today I went a little toy hunt to see what was out in my area and I found some Target exclusive Clone Troopers at a Target in Waukesha WI. They had about 8 on the pegs and I left them all hanging on the pegs. I just wanting let your readers know that this figure is still out and can be found at retail.
JediChris
Thanks for the info… probably just a fluke, but stranger things have show up. For instance my local Target has put the recalled 5-pack of Collectors Casesback out, and I’m pretty sure these are still the same ones that don’t hold the carded figures all that well.
Audience Participation – Choose the next Figure Review!
July 12, 2005 | 12:33 PM EST | Jayson
This goes out to all you Yakface readers out there. Instead of throwing out a review from the most recent of figures, this week I thought I’d change it up a bit and ask you our faithful readers which figure would you like to read a review about. It doesn’t even have to be from the current ROTS line, it can go back to the POTF2 if you want! Explore the Yakface Toyguide and shoot me an email by this Friday, and I will pick from the submissions the next figure to wax poetic on.
Anakin Evolution & Jedi Vs. Sith Battle Set Found
July 11, 2005 | 10:57 PM EST | Keri
YakReader Luis writes in with this newest store report:
“Just wanted to let you know that my friend Ricardo found the Jedi Vs. Sith Battle Pack and the Darth Vader Evolution at K-Mart in Desert Hot Springs, California. How do I know? He drove back home to Palm Springs and called me to tell me. Since I live in Los Angeles he drove the 22 miles back so he could get me an evolution set. They are ringing up at $21.99. That seems a little high but K-Mart is always more expensive. It looks like the only difference between these new re-hashes and the old figures are the shiny capes. The left side of the box opens up to re-veal the accessories. There are the cuffs and chains from EPII from the arena scene, two lightsabers with the vader hilt with a red and blue saber and a hilt. Also packed is the removable arm and a robotic hand. There are also two silver stickers that keep the package together. Once they are removed you can remove the sleeve towards the left to take out the packaged figures through the right. $22 bucks seems like a lot, but the package is great. I don’t know about the battle pack but the Evolution set is packaged great.”
Well, as we have seen in the past CA gets the newest items first and they make their way east to the rest of the US. I have mine on order from amazon.com, so Happy Hunting everyone!
OTC, Packaging and…Jedi In Disguise?
July 11, 2005 | 3:35 PM EST | Scott
JediJman checks in with some new info on upcoming OTC releases, packaging details and a scoop on an exciting merging of Star Wars and another popular toy line, read on…
Okay, here’s another scoop on new products coming out! I saw a few new
packages today:
– The basic line OTC packaged figures! These look like a combination
of the old OTC line and the new ROTS packaging. Rectangular cards with
the OTC graphics, but the base is rounded off similar to the ROTS
figures. Bubbles are rectangular (yay!) which is better for stacking IMO.
The bad news: There are 6 figures pictured on the back – all rehashes.
They had chewie in chains, boussh, Han Carbonite (looks like the one
from the cardboard jabba’s palace set), Bib Fortuna, Barada and I think
one more guy – I’ll check again later. They all looked like previously
released versions, but…
The good news: there is an indicator that each of them comes with a
free mini-holographic figure! There’s an oval opening about 1.5 inches
big, but no actual toys in these, so I’m not sure what exactly will be
included. Hopefully its a different one for each figure.
The other new packaging they had…I can hardly believe this myself,
but its a foot long pegable package with a clear window and no toy
inside. On the top it has the STAR WARS logo, and on the bottom it
says…are you ready for this? TRANSFORMERS. That’s right, Star Wars
Transformers! The back is plain cardboard, so I have no idea what this is going
to be, but I’m already stoked.
For fans of Transformers, they had all the new Heroes of Cybertron
stuff, and new packaging for the Alternators line. The two sample
alternators present were a Prowl car and Skids the Van. I’ll try to get some
more details this afternoon…

Sith Reaches #9 On All Time List
July 10, 2005 | 5:31 PM EST | Bill
The Box Office Mojo.com is reporting that this weekend’s gross puts Revenge of the Sith at #9 on the all time highest grossing movies list– with almost $371 million in domestic revenues. It looks like Sith will probably pass Spiderman 2 (at $373 million) next week to move up to #8! Check it out here.
Begun the Clearances Have…
July 9, 2005 | 6:05 PM EST | Keri
While doing some figure hunting at my local Target stores this weekend, I started to see the beginning of some clearances. They had some Lego sets 15% off which included the Snowspeeder and Dagobah playset. The Luke with Speeder Bike Jedi Force was 50% off on endcaps at the back of the toys. Also one store had what was left of the Hasbro 12″ for 15% off which was about $16.00. Hopefully we’ll see more clearances like this as the basic figures have gradually risen to the $6.00 mark again.
Good Luck Hunting everyone!

July 6, 2005 | 12:43 AM EST | Jayson

Starwars.com has updated tonight revealing the next 3 of Hasbro’s ever expanding Unleashed line. First up is Han Solo in Stormtrooper Armor complete with Dianoga tentacle from the trash compactor (this has a Luke variant written all over it). Followed by Chewbacca on Kashyyyk (which doesn’t look all that different from the “Endor” version released previously) and the piéce de résistance: the Shocktrooper from Mustafar! (please Hasbro give us more Unleashed ROTS clones!) Visit Starwars.com for other details!
UPDATE the spies from Rebelscum.com have word that these will be the last figures of the Unleashed line to make way for a much smaller 2″ line. Boo!!!
