Whew! That was a lot to take in for the first day, but I’d say overall that was one of the better Star Wars livestream events put on by the Hasbro team in some time. Even though there weren’t a lot of surprises, they did manage to show a decent amount of product for the brand that also covered many different parts of the Saga.
The biggest and best announcement of course was the reveal/confirmation of the rumored HasLab Vintage Collection Razor Crest from The Mandalorian for $349.99. The day isn’t over yet and it is past the half way point to be fully funded. Hasbro again looks to be pulling out all of the stops with this project as the level of detail going into it is jaw-dropping.
The Vintage Collection also had the reveal/confirmation of a reissued Captain Rex from The Clone Wars joining the line and another repack/reissue wave* of figure that included Peasant Anakin, Queen Amidala, Battle Droid and TIE Fighter Pilot. The consensus is that those are odd choices that I hope don’t follow in the footsteps of the previous reissue waves and stay out of retail stores (Target, Walmart etc.). The Incinerator Trooper from The Mandalorian was also confirmed and is as fabulous as the 6″ version which was revealed on Monday of this week.
*These four figures correspond to the “Mountain” code named figures (Himalayas, Rocky, Andes, and Alps) on our Master List.
I thought the balance between Vintage Collection and The Black Series was decent despite many of the products already in collectors hands prior to their official announcements – namely figures from Wave 27 of the Black Series and the festive TBS “Holiday Edition” sub-line of exclusive troopers. New/yet rumored figures shown off were Rey (Dark Side Vision), Deluxe Jar Jar Binks and Deluxe Boba Fett from Return of the Jedi – all three of which look stunning. The Armorer also gets a special edition/deluxe release (similar to the Cad Bane with TODO-360) with some additional accessories and soft goods in a gorgeous slip case package. Also worthy of mention is the Black Series Force FX Elite Ahsoka Tano lightsaber. While nice, it’s disappointing not to get both of her iconic Clone Wars era lightsabers in this set.
There was passing mention of the new Mission Fleet line and no mention of the Galaxy of Adventures line which I can only assume means it’s now dead.
