Toyguide Update: Agent Kallus (SL05)

SWR_kallus_TGpreview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with the next entry in the Star Wars Rebels 3-3/4″ line. Next, we take a look at Agent Kallus (SL05) from the Saga Legends line.

PROS: As cool a figure as his character is on the show, Agent Kallus looks best displayed with a nice squad of stormtroopers, commanding them to wipe out the Rebels. For a figure essentially dressed in black, there is a lot going on in terms of color and finishes. Different shades of black, gray and blue-gray break up the outfit as well as the use of matte and gloss paint to make the gloves and boot pop. He includes his cool bo-rifle which he can wield with extreme prejudice.

CONS: Agent Kallus is currently only available in the first Rebels/Saga Legends case assortment (1 per case). It is unknown if he’s slated as a carry forward in later waves. Would have loved a removable helmet (to show off those killer 70’s mutton chops) or to be able to attach the bo-rifle to his back like in the series.

Toyguide Update: Kanan Jarrus (SL04)

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with the next entry in the Star Wars Rebels 3-3/4″ line. Next, we take a look at Kanan Jarrus (SL04) from the Saga Legends line.

PROS: Yep, another Kanan but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Hasbro (and Lucasfilm/Disney) wants to make sure kids are bombarded with the new characters in the Star Wars universe so it only makes sense to get “the leader” out there en mass. Again, this is a repack but it does have a tighter deco/and assembly than my Jedi Reveal pack figure had (your experience may vary of course).

CONS: While it’s understandable that Kanan is getting an individual carded release, we aren’t getting separate figures of Zeb, Hera or Sabine (main characters of the series and crew of the Ghost) on basic cards. Again, distribution of the figures is still lagging behind the debut of the show but they are starting to hit in the US finally (Target, Walmart, Toys”R”US) so keep checking those stores.

Toyguide Update: The Inquisitor (SL03)

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with the next entry in the Star Wars Rebels 3-3/4″ line. Next, we take a look at The Inquisitor (SL03) from the Saga Legends line.

PROS: One of, if not, the best Star Wars Rebels figure thus far. Great vintage-esque design, crisp sculpt and the paint application is pretty much spot on.

CONS: Some don’t like the simplistic design of the series and the limited articulation. Distribution of the figures is still lagging behind the debut of the show but they are starting to hit in the US finally so keep checking those stores.

Toyguide Update: Ezra Bridger (SL02)

SWR_ezra_TGpreview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with the next entry in the Star Wars Rebels 3-3/4″ line. Next, we take a look at the Ezra Bridger (SL02) from the Saga Legends line.

PROS: For an animated 5 POA figure, it is as good as can be expected. A pretty spot on likeness and its nice to get the correct logo on his back for the individual release. Helmet fits snuggly without risk of it falling off. There will be no shortage of Ezra figures out there once they hit retail more widely which is good for a main character.

CONS: Like many recent figures, the paint job on this particular sample is a bit shaky as there are several instances of paint bleed or too thin of an application, allowing the color of the plastic to show through. No lightsaber blaster or backpack is included.
