Ten years ago, August 30, 2005, two Star Wars collectors released the world’s first podcast dedicated to Star Wars collecting:  Star Wars Action News.  From the Revenge of the Sith line through The Black Series, and even looking back at Vintage and 90s toys, Marjorie and Arnie have covered it all.
Now join Star Wars Action News at a party to celebrate this milestone!  At Wizard World, Chicago, join Arnie, Marjorie, Brock, Jerry, Daryl, Andrew, and other members of the Star Wars Action News team for drinks, food, cake, and fun!
The party starts at 7:30pm, Saturday, Aug 22 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare, the hotel attached by skywalk to the Stephens Convention Center.

The 2015 San Diego Comic-Con is gone, but not forgotten.  In addition to the exclusive First Order Stormtrooper selling out faster than you can say “Blast it!”, the images of giant TIE Fighters, working R2-D2 robots, and McQuarrie art based statues still dance in our heads.
Last week you had a floor tour of the major booths at the con.  Now join Marjorie and Arnie this week as they recap San Diego Comic-Con, including the companies with the best showings and the coolest items coming soon.  They are also joined by resident Hot Toys expert Andrew to discuss that TIE Fighter and that even bigger Millennium Falcon, and Berent recounts his experience getting into the Star Wars panel at Hall H!
Also on this week’s show, Steve “The Gingerprince” reports in from a convention on the other side of the pond:  London Film and Comic Con.  He recounts his celebrity meetings and rare purchases at the con.

The shroud of “The Disney Side” is slowly, but surely, being lifted on the plans for Force Friday. This week, Flyguy and I discuss some of the images, product lists and unwitting retail employees leaking out info ahead of September’s big reveal. Speaking of big, Hot Toys revealed the ultimate 1:6 item – the Millennium Falcon display recently in Hong Kong. It not only went viral in the collecting community, but caught worldwide attention on media outlets as well. Is something like this actually viable in today’s market? We wrap things up with a bit of comic news as well as our weekly breakdown of new purchases and acquisitions and more on Episode #70 of The Realm Recap!

Star Wars #8 Tusken Raider Action Figure Variant Cover

The ever expanding list of action figure cover variants for Marvel’s Star Wars series continues with the Tusken Raider for issue #008. Like the others, this variant features the work of John Tyler Christopher giving the cover a Vintage Kenner inspired design with a realistic twist. Look for it at your local comic shop on August 19

Disney Store Launching Exclusive Star Wars Elite Series Figures

Disney Store will launch an exclusive collection of Star Wars items at D23 EXPO on Friday, August 14. The collection will feature apparel, collectibles, and toys, including the Star Wars Elite Series, a new line of highly articulated and detailed die cast action figures, representing characters from Star Wars Episodes I-VI. The action figures will be sold individually at Disney Store locations beginning later this year; however, D23 EXPO attendees have the opportunity to purchase the full set of Star Wars Elite Series action figures, which includes D23 EXPO-exclusive versions of R2-D2 and C-3PO.

No word as of yet regarding the scale of these figures.
