Episode 311: Blink and You’ll Miss It

The internet has burned up this past week with Star Wars news and, to the surprise of no one, Lucas has made further changes to the Star Wars saga for their blu ray release. “Leave Star Wars alone” one faction typed loudly. “It’s Lucas’ property, he can change it however he wants” the other faction replied. On this week’s Star Wars Action News podcast, Marjorie and Arnie give their opinion on the changes, why minor changes mean so much to Star Wars fans, and why all the internet ink in the world protesting the changes doesn’t matter.

And Hasbro is once again doing a Fan’s Choice figure poll! The top Star Wars collecting sites are asked to gather fans’ Top 10 figures for a new vote, the results of which will be announced at Toy Fair in 2012, and the figure released in 2013! Listen to this week’s show for details.

Marjorie & Arnie are back from Chicago Wizard World and are here this week to review a handful of new purchases, all of which happen to be Gentle Giant mini-busts: The Entertainment Earth exclusive Revenge of the Sith Obi-Wan Kenobi, the San Diego Comic-Con exclusive McQuarrie Concept Snowtrooper, the Expanded Universe based Twi’lek Darth Talon, and another Twi’lek–Oola from Jabba’s palace. They discuss the details of these busts, and address the recent price increases among these and other high-end collectibles.

Also this week, Steve reports in from post-riot UK with what toys he’s finding on shelves, and Marjorie and Arnie run down the latest online finds, including some very cool new items from Kotobukiya that are not yet available in the states.

Last weekend saw Comic Con International hit San Diego, and it had everything you would expect, from cosplay superheroes to big name celebrities to the Star Wars Action News team covering all the great Star Wars collecting from the convention, from the exclusives from Kotobukiya, Gentle Giant, and Hasbro to the Star Wars collectibles panel featuring Sideshow, eFX, and more!

In this episode of Star Wars Action News, Arnie and Marjorie recount all the Star Wars moments from the con, from the great new products on display to the not-so-great handling of the line at the Hasbro Toy Shop booth. Also Justin joins in to run down the new toys revealed by Hasbro, and Jakob reviews new Star Wars 6-inch figure prototypes from ThreeA.
