VC14 Sandtrooper

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of the Sandtrooper from the Vintage Collection.

PROS: About as close as we’ll get to an “ultimate” sandtrooper/stormtrooper for a while. Excellent sculpt and you don’t have to buy a Dewback to get one. Loaded with articulation and accessories.

CONS: Far too clean to be a Sandtrooper. Should have included electrobinoculars for more playability.

New Star Wars Build-A-Bears Coming Sept 24

Upon visiting my local mall yesterday, I noticed that the Build-A-Bear Workshop is advertising a new series of Star Wars themed Build-A-Bears. There are 3 new outfits to choose from: Han Solo, C-3PO and Princess Leia along with a blue “Star Wars Bear” that has a special graphic on the bottom of the foot. These new products will be available starting September 24 and if you visit the store that weekend, you’ll receive a FREE Star Wars poster with any Star Wars purchase (while supplies last).

VC12 Darth Sidious

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Darth Sidious from the Vintage Collection.

PROS: After five long years of begging, Hasbro finally releases a Senate Duel version of this infamous Sith Lord. Wicked scary head sculpt. Highly posable.

CONS: The soft goods cowl looks more “grandma” than intended due to the fabric selection. The lower “skirt” is not accurate to the costume. (See example.)

DCSWCC Picnic This Weekend

The Washington DC Metro Area Star Wars Collecting Club (DCSWCC) will have a great Fall picnic on Saturday, September 11th, 2010 in Gambrills, MD.

The pavilion of the Bell Branch Athletic Complex will be the site of the club’s annual Anniversary celebration, which will feature the usual food, fun, and fellowship. Special events at this year’s picnic will be a “Death Star Trench” mini-golf course and a wampa cave photo-op, which were featured attractions at the club’s booth at Celebration 5 last month.

If you’re in the Washington DC / Baltimore / Annapolis area this Saturday afternoon, please stop by, meet your fellow collectors, and join in the fun! Check out our website www.dcswcc.org and emailpress@dcswcc.org for more information.
