Episode 123: 2008 Resolutions

Should vintage figures, be forgot, and never brought to light! Let vintage figures stay in dark and keep them safe and dry!
2007 was the 30th anniversary of Star Wars and an expensive year for many, many collectors. Throw in the end of the Master Replicas and it was a very crazy year, but as a result many collectors are vowing to change their collecting habits in 2008. Star Wars Action News put out the call for listeners to call in with their collecting resolutions for 2008 and many people called in. We play those resolutions and next year we’ll check in with these callers to see how they did.
Also this week we look at the ploethera of 3.75″ exclusives Target put out over the holiday season. All were repaints, but were they worth it? Arnie and Marjorie review them this week.

I’ll probably be reading right through the end of ’07 till the beginning of ’08. The Toyguide updates today with the addition of Pax Bonkik, the 54th figure in the TAC line. Not a whole lotta love for “new” TPM figures over the past year, but here we are treated to the Rodian Pod Racer Mechanic and former slave, Pax Bonkik. This figure is a decent repaint of one of my personal favorite VTSC figures: Greedo. About the only thing this figure is missing is some tools, a Pit Droid, or perhaps his brother Trax.

Toyguide Update: #53 Rebel Vanguard Trooper

The Toyguide updates continue with the Rebel Vanguard Trooper, the 53rd figure in the TAC line. Another welcome addition to the rebel ranks. This figure is based on one of the playable characters in the popular Battlefront II video game. It’s essentially a repainted black Endor Soldier with Rebel Fleet Trooper helmet and a new Rocket Launcher (also available in the Battle Droid BFII set.)

Toyguide Update: #52 Naboo Soldier

The Toyguide updates continue with the Naboo Soldier, the 52nd figure in the TAC line. The yellow Tonka Driver from the TSC line gets a crimson compatriot. This version is from the Naboo hanger in Episode I as well, this time in a red uniform and is outfitted with a removable helmet and Naboo Blaster. Too bad we didn’t receive a soft goods coat for him as well to add a little more variety in our Naboo Soldiers.

The Toyguide updates today with a sampling of figures from the repaint wave (7.5). First up is the 7th Legion Clone Trooper, the 49th figure in the TAC line. Based off of some early concept art for ROTS, we first got a taste of this design in the Clone Trooper “Build Your Army” 3-Packs from 2005. Now, we get the fully articulated Evolutions body and blaster and a removable helmet to boot.

The coming year is going to be very exciting for Hasbro’s boys properties. We realize that fans are anticipating 2008 as much as we are, and that speculation on our line is a large part of the excitement. Fans of Hasbro’s boys brands may be noticing some information circulating on the web. While you may be tempted to believe that this information is accurate, we want to remind our fans, that unless product information or images are posted on an official Hasbro brand site, brand Q&A, or released by Hasbro’s Corporate Communications team, the information is not authorized and therefore not official. We do not want to get consumer hopes up when rumors turn out to be unfounded.

Waves 7 & 7.5 & 8 Seen at Local Target

I was doing some Christmas shopping at my Local Target and while I’ve seen some of waves 7 and 7.5 here and there but very scarcely. I just happened to see a worker put up Number 57 Jango Fett with blue poncho and helmet and I snatched him up, even though I’m in the One of Each Club with Brian’s Toys, it seems they are slow out of the gates with these waves. So start looking people cuz they’re out there and good luck!! And have a great holiday season.
And BTW I’m ripping through the latest Legacy of the Force book Fury and should have the review out fairly soon, so far I can tell you its already worth buying or reading, but I’ll give more in my review.
Also a little bit off subject, but I found the latest wave of G.I. Joe figures the one with Destro as Iron Grenadiers leader, Sgt. Flash, the laser rifle trooper, Snow Job, acrtic trooper, which btw is probably one of the coolest besides the Crimson Guard figure that I also got, so the only one left for me to get is the Snake Eyes remake of version one. I wish I could supply pics but I’m very new at this Internet HTML stuff, so if I can figure it out, I’ll post the pics in the correct forum.
