Also this week, for years Star Wars collectors complained that the Hasbro and Kenner TIE Fighters had wings that were too small, too out of scale with the cockpit to be movie accurate. Then in 2005 Hasbro responded by giving us a Target exclusive “big wing” TIE Fighter. For years, Star Wars collectors complained that the Hasbro and Kenner TIE Fighters were blue, not at all the color they appeared to be on screen. In 2005 Hasbro responded by giving us a gray TIE fighter. From there things can only get worse… Hasbro started to mix and match wing size and colors. Toys R Us recently got in the third exclusive release of the “big wing” TIE Fighter, this time in “whitish gray”. How different is it from the previous Toys R Us gray fighter, and from the Target blue fighter? We discussion those issues this week.

The Pennsylvania Star Wars Collecting Society will be presenting a collecting panel entitled “Star Wars Collectible Mania!” at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA on Thursday, April 24th at 7:00pm. The Franklin Institute is currently hosting the traveling exhibit “Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination” and invited PSWCS to host this panel to enhance the Star Wars experience at the museum. Five members of PSWCS will share their passion and expertise in Star Wars collecting, and will display an assortment of their collectibles for your perusal. The event is free, but if you’d like to attend, the Franklin Institute asks that your register ahead of time, as seating is limited.

I wanted to take a moment and let my extended Star Wars family know that in May my daughter Cassidy is turning 4 and we are participating in the annual Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk on May 17th, 2008 here in Dallas. We have organized a group, Team Cassiebug, that is raising funds and would greatly appreciate any help anyone is willing to give. Our team goal is to raise $1,000 for our efforts and I wanted to make it fun by throwing a little Star Wars into the mix. If we can raise $500 I will wear my Stormtrooper Armor in the walk, but if we hit our goal of $1,000 I will wear my Darth Vader Costume. Also my wife and her friends have set up some auctions on Ebay and 100% of the proceeds will go towards the CF Foundation. They can be viewed here.

Episode 138: Something Unexpected…

First, Star Wars fans were surprised over the weekend when the new, full trailer for the upcoming Clone Wars Animated Movie was leaked onto the internet (with Polish subtitles). As our first peek at the story of the seventh theatrical Star Wars release, Marjorie and Arnie give their thoughts on what expectations they have for the film, and discuss forum member’s opinions of the trailer.

Next, Galactic Hunter’s Adam May broke some amazing news about a huge (literally) new release from Hasbro due out this summer. It’s a new Millennium Falcon, and it’s bigger and badder than ever. The Star Wars Action News hosts run down this information and review the pre-release information of the item.

Finally, something unexpected dropped into the Sithsonian this week as Marjorie and Arnie bought an Arcade game. With a weekend’s drive from Illinois to Tennessee, they took this opportunity to hit most of the Wal Marts along the way looking for the elusive Force Unleashed wave of Hasbro figures. Did they buy the arcade game, and did they find any figures along the way?

First off, I apologize for the forums being down again and the recent outbreak of forum outages you have been suffering. As we updated earlier this month we are experiencing some severe server bandwidth issues. At this time I am working with our host support to remedy the situation. The problem is not necessarily related to just yak but a select few forums that run on the same server host. It seems that even though our forum’s participation is not relatively high some entity is continuously hitting our forums and causing it to crash. We are working heavily to try and figure out a way to stop these ip’s (we are suspecting that these would be programs and bots and not necessarily an actual individual) from bombarding the site and keeping our valued fans from enjoying the server as we want. With the Galactic Hero packs, the Aayla Secura starfighter, the Order 66 2-packs, and the upcoming Force Unleashed Rancor, plus more, Target is the “spot” to shop. This week, the hosts of Star Wars Action News stumbled upon a trove of Target exclusives, and provide a detailed look at the new Order 66 2-packs.

The Force Unleashed News: You Are Vader!

While watching the Star Wars Saga on Spike TV tonight, they had an interview with game designer Haden Blackman and he revealed that we get to play as Darth Vader himself during the first level of the game. The footage that was shown included game play shots of Vader force-choking Wookiees. Cool!

Hasbro.com: New EU Comic Packs

Hasbro.com has updated today and the Force will be tested as good and evil meet once again in the new Expanded Universe Comic 2-Packs. The Asajj and Tol Skorr and Anakin and Durge 3 ¾” Expanded Universe Comic 2-Packs will be available in late spring 2008 at retail stores. This is just the beginning of the exciting news from Hasbro…stay tuned!

Episode 136: Lines, Lines, Everywhere There’s Lines

They did it for Episode I, they did it for Episode II, they did it for Episode III, they do it for every exclusive at cons, and most famously they did it to see George Lucas at Celebration III. Yes, that’s right, I’m talking about Star Wars fans forming lines. This year we see what no one expected–Star Wars back in theaters with the Clone Wars animated movie on August 15, 2008 and the Star Wars Action News team have started their own lines. In New York, Dallas, Cincinatti, Mesa, AZ, and Springfield, IL Star Wars Action News staff have broken out their tents, sleeping bags, cellphones and laptops to begin the four and a half month wait for Clone Wars to open.

While standing on line this week, Marjorie and Arnie discuss a couple of the new Funko Bobbleheads, and Arnie returned to the home of the seller who sold him four vintage Power of the Force figures last week and returns with four more vintage carded figures this week.
