Gentle Giant has just revealed their Rey Mini Bust from The Force Awakens!
Gentle Giant Ltd. is returning to Jakku with their newest 1:6 scale, Star Wars Mini Bust, Rey, from Star Wars: Episode 7, The Force Awakens. The mysterious junker from Jakku has rekindled a curiosity with Star Wars fans young and old. Who is she? Where did she come from? Why is she so strong with the Force? Only time will tell. This highly detailed mini bust, was created digitally by the artisans at Gentle Giant Ltd. and captures the likeness of Rey with staff in hand, conveying a sense of calm while holding back a tremendous amount of power that she has yet to realize. Star Wars fans of all ages look forward to Rey’s story unraveling as the saga continues!

Bandai has launched a new series of 6″ figures from The Force Awakens as part of the Movie Vinyl Collection. This budget line features basic/minimal articulation while presented on a pseudo “Vintage” blister card back. The line kicks off with Kylo Ren (#01), First Order Stormtrooper (#02), Captain Phasma (#03), BB-8 (#04), R2-D2 (#05) and Chewbacca (#06).
You can order these figures now through sites like HobbyLink Japan and BBTS for around $15 each.
Despite the majority of retail outlets being devoid of new products on shelves, there are still a few surprises as online retailers are receiving a “new” 6″ version of Rey – which may be just different enough to make you mad/sad. Funko continue to promote like no other brand as teases for the next Smuggler’s Bounty box have sparked some discussion of potential for new characters. The biggest (and most spendy) news of last week was the announcement of an ultra-high end tier of prop replicas from Propshop – the manufacturer responsible for the very same screen used props in The Force Awakens. And finally, we close out Episode #99 with a few new acquisitions to tide us over until the next “must-have” item comes along.
Looks like Sideshow is dipping back into the vault to re-issue their impressive IG-88 Sixth Scale figure. It is unknown at this time if it is a straight re-release or (probably) a tweak to the previous model and without the deluxe illuminated display base. Look for an official preorder announcement soon.
I’ve been receiving and reading multiple reports that Walmarts are once again getting shipments of the elusive 3.75″ Black Series figures including Han Solo, Princess Leia Organa, and Captain Phasma. Reports have come in from Virginia and Tennessee.
