Enrico writes in with a new store find today revealing the app-enabled Smart R2-D2.
I came across these at a local Walmart in San Diego this morning. I tried to buy the 12″ Rebels Vader but wasn’t allowed to. The remote R2-D2 was a surprise item. I haven’t seen it in any advance catalog. Looking at the box, it’s controlled via an app on Android and iPhone. Sorry I didn’t get pictures of the box.
You can download the app now to control the Bluetooth Smart R2-D2 via iTunes app store.
Our very own Justin “Chewie” stumbled across a product leak of his own at his local Walmart (Ballwin, MO) as a shelf of Rebel U-wing Fighters were placed early. They also scanned with no issue for $79.00.
Since the 6″ Black Series Hovertank Pilot leaked yesterday, people questioned if it was really an exclusive to Toys”R”Us as the packaging was missing the silver foil sticker. Now, eBay auctions have sprouted up and the sticker is present on those. This is not too dissimilar with what happened with the Exclusive First Order Snowtrooper Officer last year.
Thanks to Corey from First Order Transmissions/The Cargo Hold for the heads-up.
Mike M. passes on to us a nice boxed shot of the upcoming Imperial Speeder with AT-DP Pilot from Star Wars Rebels. Click the image above for a closer look.
We ran into this news this weekend but @geektroooper on Twitter shares this excellent side-by-side image of two new Jakks Pacific exclusive 18″ Big-Fig packs hitting Costco stores. The Force Awakens set includes Rey, Kylo Ren and Finn and the Rogue One Anthology set includes K-2SO, Stormtrooper and Death Trooper. Both retail for $39.99.
As we revealed yesterday, Hasbro is releasing a special “value” assortment of vehicles for Rogue One and joining the TIE Striker is the Rebel X-wing Fighter. These lower cost vehicles strip out most of the toyetic features of their larger vehicle counterparts in lieu of more accurate proportions and aesthetics.
Remember that smaller scale Millennium Falcon from Hasbro last year? Hasbro is issuing more vehicles in this “value” scale — one of which is the TIE Striker. As you can see, the vehicle is a tad smaller, lacks figure compatibility and (to some collector’s delight) the omission of the NERF firing features. What do you think?
Thanks to Corey from First Order Transmissions for the heads-up on the image.
Shoutout the Hasbro team for hosting the fan site Hangout on Google+ this morning. There were a few interesting bits discussed for what we can expect on shelves on Sept. 30 and beyond.
Be sure to check out JediDefender, Star Wars Action News and JediNewsUK for more info gleaned from this discussion. Look for some new official toy announcements for Rogue One next week.
Since its reveal/leak, people have been curious about the pack-in display base for the 6″ Black Series Sergeant Jyn Erso (Eadu) figure. YouTube Reviewer KingofDragons has posted an in-hand review of this piece and it reveals it is an all-new base with pegs for figure’s foot holes. Jyn also includes a new E-11 blaster, her baton (collapsed), blaster pistol and removable breathing apparatus.
