Here we are just a week before Christmas, and Walmart and Target stores are stocked to the gills with TVC that launched 9 months ago. And Walmart continues to get even more of the initial wave in.
How many figures did Hasbro produce from this wave anyway? How can 2019 be a successful TVC year when they shoot themselves in the foot right out of the gate with mostly repacks? Why aren’t there barely any sales or pricing rollbacks on these at retail? Share your thoughts here or in our forums.
GameStop is running a BOGO 50% off sale on all action figures through Christmas. If you’re out and about it might be worth your while to stop by your local store(s).
Full divisions of Snowtroopers are marching in for the ridiculously low price of $3.99 at Ross. If you’re looking to army build General Leia Organa, she’s even cheaper at $2.99.
Personal Note: In general, is supply of 6″ figures exceeding demand? With 5 Below stores drowning in figures for $5.00 each, very little retail distribution of a ton of figures from The Last Jedi, deep discounts on this line’s vehicles and deluxe type figures, are we seeing some warning signs with Hasbro’s “bread and butter” line?
This week Target is offering their 6″ (non-exclusive) Black Series figures for $9.99 and, as luck would have it, Wave 19 is hitting at the same time. With all of the product turnover in the lead-up to Christmas, repeat visits to your stores may be required to partake it their acquisition at this low price.
If you have a Gordmans store in your area, the Rogue One AT-ACT has been marked down to $49.99. So if you’ve held off on getting this, or looking for a fun Christmas present at a good price, you may want to pick this up if you are able to.
Personal Note: If Hasbro had not over-engineered this thing with the app, walking feature, Nerf, etc… and had instead made it more on par with THIS, it would have performed much better for retailers. What say you?
Walmart stores have been clearing out quite a bit of stale Star Wars merchandise lately, such as the above Battle on Crait battle packs…
What are the best deals you’ve found? Have you been stocking up on deals, or have you been passing because some of this stuff is just completely unusable for display or custom fodder? Let us know here or in the forums!
Yakface reader Steven P. reports finding the latest Force Link 2.0 wave at a Cincinnati area Walmart. If you’re interested in these figures, the hunt is on!
Some Ross stores are getting in TBS 3.75″ figures for the ridiculously low price of $2.99 (Sandtrooper, Ponda Baba, Tusken Raider, Boba Fett – Prototype Armor). Thanks to forum member EndorJunkie for the heads up!
Personal Note: These former Walmart exclusive figures are great for army building and custom fodder; and really didn’t hit full circulation at Walmart due to some very bad previous wave assortments and terrible distribution. I know that if I see these, I won’t pass them up at this price!
