There has been a lot of commentary out there about the helmet size of the new Captain Rex (#09) figure from The Black Series being too small. There is a very easy “fix” that most people can do if you have some older Clone Wars Rex figures laying about. Click on through for a quick fix on bringing that shrunken head version back to the front lines of your collection.
Over the weekend, forum member Jodo ran into something very few people have seen at a Target store in a long, long time… several new Black Series figures. Not full cases, of course, since Target seems to reject the notion of giving their customers a full selection of Star Wars figures these days, but it still seems like a positive sign (I ran into some stores that also stocked last week, though it was as usual, just 2-3 figures at a time).
Keep those store reports coming in, and hopefully the last handful of figures from the final waves of pre-Episode 7 Black Series actually make it to the pegs in decent supply before the onslaught of product in September…
JediInsider has posted the first look at the packaging for an upcoming 6″ Black Series First Order Stormtrooper. As you recall, the Black Series is getting a refresh later this year to a new red & black theme. So this looks to be an as-of-yet named exclusive, possibly for SDCC. Look for more details on this soon.

Speaking of variants, a new figure variant has surfaced that actually improves upon the pre-existing figure. Newer releases of #02 Luke Skywalker (Hoth) now feature color matched (tan) elbow pins. The original VC95 and TBS #02 releases has contrasting gray pins that stood out quite noticeably. Click the image above for a closer look.

As suspected, the initial shipments of the Black Series #08 Stormtrooper that included the “#08” sticker on the card back and bubble insert covering the “#15” have been corrected. My recent case from Entertainment Earth included 2 stormtroopers, both feature this correction. The date stamp is 50651. Our friends at Jedi Temple Archives are reporting that the new Black Series Stormtrooper (found at Toys”R”us) features some different parts than the most recent mold, including a new helmet. Is this a leap forward, or a step back?

Looks like the Black Series 3.75″ wave 7 assortment is making its way across the middle of the US. A local collector friend here in Minnesota found Captain Rex, Dutch Vander and Commander Wolffe at three separate Target stores in the west metro, meaning, they are still splitting up cases to stock store shelves.
