Vintage Collection Archive Edition Update 18

Blue Milk has provided a new update for the upcoming Vintage Collection Archive Edition book release. Click on through to check out the final version of the slipcase and a special insert they’ve added for backers of the slipcase pledge level.

When we set out to create The Vintage Collection Archive Edition book, we pledged to tell the TVC story at the highest quality with astute attention to detail.  We think this update will show you just how much passion we’ve been pouring into the project and how thoughtful our consideration for even the most minute details has been.

Below, you’ll see the final design for the slipcase based on the Kenner vinyl figure case. While all of the figures are from The Vintage Collection, when possible, we integrated other Hasbro Star Wars items to complete the design. For example, longtime collectors will recognize the POTF2 Mos Eisley Cantina pop-up diorama, and moisture vaporator from 2007’s 30th Anniversary Collection. But, we took it a step further. Can you spot the Jundland Wastes backdrop from the Electronic Power F/X R2-D2 or the doorway from the Death Star Escape playset? Even the Death Star was composited into its upside-down position using the front of the TVC exclusive Revenge of the Jedi Death Star box set and the POTF2 Complete Galaxy Death Star.

In studying the art of the Kenner vinyl case, we couldn’t believe it didn’t include the Millenium Falcon, the most iconic ship in the franchise (sorry X-Wing). As a result, we substituted the Star Destroyer that appeared on the original case with the Falcon. Yes, we could have used Hasbro’s Collector Fleet Star Destroyer, but we thought The Vintage Collection Millenium Falcon was a better choice. We hope you’ll agree.

The final design of the Special Edition Vinyl Case Slipcover

If you’re a backer of the slipcover version of the book, we have a surprise for you. Each slipcover edition of the book will include a special “figure tray” insert printed on premium paper. We tested several ways to present the figure tray as part of the slipcover case, but found the insert worked best. The insert pays homage to the promotional inserts included with the original Kenner vinyl cases while showcasing some of the figures from the TVC lineup. What better way to represent Kenner’s kitbashed Boba Fett prototype than with TVC’s Prototype Boba Fett figure?

That’s all for this week. Look for more design reveals in the near future, which reminds us… who wants to see some coin designs? In that case, stay tuned for next week’s update!

As always, thank you for backing the book and MTFBWY!
