I recently received a wonderful care package from GonkToys showcasing their assortment of high-quality acrylic products for displaying Hasbro/Kenner Star Wars collectibles. Today, I going to give my impressions on their acrylic display case for 6×9 carded figures.
GonkToys signature 10”x7” Acrylic Cases are constructed of a rigid, crystal-clear acrylic and have a wall thickness of .33mm. The case feels quite substantial in-hand and should protect your figure from dust and grabby/grubby hands for years to come. The interior of the case features 3 channels (left, right and top) for accepting the edges of the cardback. These channels keep the card flat while securing it in place both horizontally and vertically – even with vigorous shaking.
For your action figures with particularly wavy/warped/well-loved card backs, GonkToys also offers a special tool (shown above) called the Manipulator Arm (sold separately – $7.00) which you can use to assist getting the card’s top edge to slide into the top channel. I immediately saw the benefit of this while trying to guide my figure into the case.
The cases also feature a removable bottom panel that firmly locks into place via a dedicated channel, so you need not worry about it accidentally falling off and having your priced collectible dropping out of the case.
GonkToys offers 3 different cases of varying depths to allow for figures with different bubble thickness. Case Size A is 1.25” deep, Case Size B is 1.625” deep and Case Size C is 2.0” deep.
