Re-release of EPISODE ONE
posted by dlr @ 7:25 pm (11/24)
STAR WARS: EPISODE I – THE PHANTOM MENACE TO RETURN TO THEATRES FOR ONE WEEK TO BENEFIT LOCAL CHARITIES
The Phantom Menace will return to motion picture theatres across the U.S. and Canada for a one week run beginning December 3, 1999. One hundred percent of the box-office proceeds from this encore charity release will be contributed to local charities selected by theatre owners. This is the first time in history that total revenues generated from the exhibition of a film in movie theatres across the U.S. and Canada will be contributed to charitable causes.
When Star Wars: Episode I was initially released in May, it did not have celebrity premieres. Instead, the film premiered in 11 cities as a benefit for local children’s charities, raising a total of $5.3 million. Now, in the spirit of the holiday season, Lucasfilm, Twentieth Century Fox and local theatre owners are coming together in about 350 cities in the U.S. and Canada to create this unique release to benefit 174 different charities.
Said Gordon Radley, President of Lucasfilm Ltd., “We’re delighted that so many companies have gotten behind an event that will bring attention and financial support to deserving causes in our communities. The project has gotten the enthusiastic backing of our colleagues at Twentieth Century Fox; theatre owners across the U.S. and Canada; Hasbro and LEGO Systems, which are helping to advertise the release; local newspapers, which are providing movie listings; and many others whom we also want to thank.”
For further information, including a complete list of cities, theaters and charities, see http://www.starwars.com

eToys War Wagon Info
posted by starforce @ 11:30 pm (11/20)
“Kgirl” recently spoke to a manager at etoys and it seems they never even got the War Wagon in stock in the first place. Here is some more info: “When they received their shipment, they labeled a common item with the Gungan War Wagon info. The hold up in shipping was that the item labeled was not matching the info. Why it took them two weeks to figure that out, I’ll never know? I also learned that the customer service reps DO NOT contact the warehouse until their 10 day shipping period is over. In other words, the reps will keep telling us that an item is on its way when in fact they never have the item in the first place. They do not call the warehouse to see why an item has not shipped until their customary 10 shipping days have passed and the item has still not shipped. So, if you had this item on order I would call Etoys at 1-800-GO-ETOYS and have them explain the situation. But, this is the info I was given.” Thanks for the info!

My question is would you rather have the reviews section divided into seperate pages like click on POTF2 and you will be taken to a list of POTF2 reviews, or would you rather have a long loading time on the page (probably 15 seconds or more) and keep all the reviews listed on one page. More on Pitdroids [sigh]
posted by dlr @2:40 pm (11/14)
Here is some very interesting news on the yet to be released Pitdroids plus some comparisons on the new R2-D2 w/ holo Leia, thanks to Darth Bane for this report:
“Just to let you know I have one of each of the 2-packs and you info is partly incorrect. All three Pit Droids are quite different. Yes one is close to the same color as the Gasgano one but all three have fixed bent arms and knees. The body is much thicker than the Gasgano Pit Droid. The eyes are solid black and the antennas are not painted. The head and waist piece may be the same but everything else is different. They all come with the same tool trunk. I’m not sure if these are going to be in the Droid 2-pack since it would’t look good with two sittin Pit Droids. Maybe one but not two. Also that 3-pack Pit Droids we have seen that was thought to be the same thing is also different. The accessory in that pic is different than the tool trunk these come with. Just some news on that.
My second bit of news is R2-D2 w/holo Leia. I have seen the revised R2 and it is different. First off you will notice the internal bubble shell has changed to deeper cut in square towards the center. The head is now flush with the body. There is a sticker on R2 right hand side on his head that is either smaller or bigger. I don’t remember which but I will have one this week to get a full description. The other thing is the legs. On the side you can see a silver part that is thin and on the new one it is inverted. Why they would change the legs I don’t know. The body is exactly the same. The Leia is the same also. The head looks strange. The center piece on top of his head sticks out more and I think the color is a more bland silver. I will have more news when I have my own. I did when I saw them have them side by side to make the comparison.”

This report comes from my new best friend Eric 🙂
“I wanted to send you this note about a really wierd find I had today at Meijer. I bought a WHOLE CASE of the new Stormtrooper! Yes, it was a full case of just the Stormtrooper. This Meijer also had the new vader and the whole last wave of flash-back figures also. I was thinking that might be a tid-bit to put on the page. Also the local Target is carrying the Naboo Fighter candy dispenser. It is a very nice sculpt of the fighter that comes with a really cool stand and happens to poop out skittles like limp proton torpedos.”

Pit Droid 2 Packs
posted by dlr @ 9:15 pm (11/13)
An old friend dropped this info on me recently while on AOL IM…..
These droids will not be exclusive to those Taiwan 2packs and people WILL be able to get them in the U.S. in a different way. Right now the pics and reports on many sites are leading people to believe otherwise and making them panic or get angry because they think they will have a hard time getting these little repainted pit droids.
Since only 2 are repaints, it is most likely to be a pit droid 2pack with toolbox. Plus on the 2000 product list is a Collection 2 figure “Droids 2 Pack (#84129)”

Naboo Fighter From 2″ Line In U.S.?
posted by starforce @ 12:30 am (11/13)
Clavius recently found Naboo Fighter candy despensers with a bag of Skittles to fill it with at Target. The interesting thing he noticed about it is that it appears to the same as the mini Naboo Fighter found overseas which is to scale with the 2″ figures. The only difference is that it has a silver vac-metallized finish and a slot added to the bottom of the fighter for the candy to come out. Thanks to Clavius for the report.

The package number is .300 plus there is a red stripe on the bottom of the front of the package that wasn’t there before on older versions.” Once again, thanks to Clavius for the report!

Cool Can Idea
posted by starforce @ 2:00 pm (11/6)
“MrDCBlack” sent in this cool idea for creating stuff from the Pepsi Star Wars cans: “For those chaps that collect cans, I have an interesting way to display them. Most of those that have taken a chemisty course have probably seen the old trick of the “smashed can.” The can has been prepared by a strong base (lye or bleach) being put in the can. This absorbs the aluminum, but leaves the paint as a shell. When doing the trick, one just “smashes” the leftover paint husk, looking abnormally strong as the can crumples into shards.
However, if you first spray the outside of the can with a clear laminate (several coats would be good), or even painted it with a layer of clear resin, then disolved the aluminum, you have preserved the paint shell but taken away the can. This is useful for several different projects. My favorite is to install a small lamp inside. After the aluminum is gone, the light shines through the can quite nicely, and makes for an impressive display.” Cool idea, the cans are useful for something afterall!

Real Stands Newsfeed :::::::::::::::
posted by dlr @ 7:10 pm (11/1)
“Lots of people have received email from Tim at REAL,www.realstands.com , makers of The REAL Action Stand, explaining the delays in shipping out orders this month. Well, they announced today that they’re going include bonus stands in all the delayed orders and they’ve promising to add the bonus stands to every order placed up to the date normal shipping begins again, in about 2 weeks or so. You can take advantage of this by placing your order now, there’s still going to be a wait to receive the stands, but the free bonus stands make it worth it. Here’s how the bonus program’s going to work, all orders of 1 to 4 sets = 1 set free; 5 to 9 sets = 2 sets free; 10 to 19 sets = 3 sets free; 20+ sets = 4 sets free. I’m told the delay is being caused by some problems at the factory and they’re trying to catch up on a sizable order placed by the Star Wars Fan Club. But don’t worry the stands are coming and they won’t charge your credit card until the orders are shipped. Also, If you ordered by check or money order and your just tired of waiting, you can get a refund anytime by calling 1-888-618-REAL, of course you won’t get any bonus stands that way.”
