Customizer Spotlight – Ares X

Tonight we take a close look at one of the most amazing dioramas I have ever seen on the web – a full scale Battle of Hoth custom diorama created by expert customizer Ares X.
In my opinion, this thing easily rivals the official Hasbro scene we saw on display last year – be sure to take some time to check out all the great images that he has to share with our readers after the jump!
First Look: Republic Attack Ship
Hungarian Star Wars collecting web-site csillagokhaboruja.com has posted the first image from the UK Toyfair showing off the Republic Attack Ship (with exclusive pilot). Head on over for a look and thanks to YodasNews.com for the heads up!
VC42 Han Solo (Yavin Ceremony)
The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Han Solo (Yavin Ceremony) from the Vintage Collection.
PROS: A decent iteration of our favorite scoundrel from A New Hope. Nice to finally have a ceremony version (sort of) to accompany Luke.
CONS: Sculpt for the shirt entirely wrong for the scene intended to be recreated. Still missing the thigh strap for the holster that was present on the superior 2004 VOTC sculpt.

As a bonus, when you collect all six figures you’ll be able to assemble a Kubrick-scale Luke’s Landspeeder!
Vintage AOTC Wave Images at JediDefender
Scott “ICMG” Pearson has posted a great gallery of images for the new AOTC wave over in JediDefender’s forums. Hasbro has given us a great follow up to the extremely well received ROTJ wave. Give them a look see!
VC40 R5-D4
The Yakface Toyguide updates continue today with the addition of R5-D4 from the Vintage Collection.
PROS: Looks stellar on the vintage card. The body has a dirty wash (albeit faint) that some were fearing might be omitted from this “new” version. Since this utilizes the build-a-droid mold, parts can be swapped with other B.A.D. astromechs for additional play value and customization.
CONS: Vestigial Build-A-Droid holes in the figure’s sides not really fitting for the Vintage “collector” line. Back of the body still missing orange panels that Kenner seemed to notice on the 1978 figure and that were present on the Target Exclusive Remote Controlled version.

VC39 Luke Skywalker (Death Star Escape)
The Yakface Toyguide updates return today with the addition of Luke Skywalker (Death Star Escape) from the Vintage Collection.
PROS: A somewhat new take on a classic character as the previous version was little more than a statue. The modification of the Resurgence of the Jedi Battle Pack Luke works well here especially with the added soft goods. Decent likeness and a fair amount of accessories.
CONS: Comlink accessory is very tiny and can be easily lost if precautions aren’t taken to secure it. Would have been swell if we could have received a headset accessory too in order render that POTF2 Gunner Station Luke obsolete as well.
