New Star Wars Steelbooks and Blu-ray Sets

As fans count down the days until the long-awaited seventh episode of the Star Wars saga, they’ll have something else to look forward to as the first six will be released as commemorative Blu-ray steelbooks for a limited time on November 10, with pre-orders beginning on August 7. Each film comes with beautiful new character packaging that include Darth Maul for The Phantom Menace, Yoda for Attack of the Clones, General Grievous for Revenge of the Sith, Darth Vader for A New Hope, an Imperial stormtrooper for The Empire Strikes Back, and Emperor Palpatine for Return of the Jedi. Star Wars: The Complete Saga will also be released in newly-repackaged artwork on October 13. The shroud of “The Disney Side” is slowly, but surely, being lifted on the plans for Force Friday. This week, Flyguy and I discuss some of the images, product lists and unwitting retail employees leaking out info ahead of September’s big reveal. Speaking of big, Hot Toys revealed the ultimate 1:6 item – the Millennium Falcon display recently in Hong Kong. It not only went viral in the collecting community, but caught worldwide attention on media outlets as well. Is something like this actually viable in today’s market? Lucasfilm Issues Statement Regarding Controversial GQ Photos

We’re sure you’ve seen or at least heard of the recent controversy surrounding some racy images published by GQ Magazine involving a couple Star Wars characters. We won’t be publishing the images or the links here due to the varied ages of our readership, but Lucasfilm has issued the following statement.

It’s not surprising that GQ would want to capitalize on the cultural cachet of Star Wars, but Lucasfilm and Disney did not authorize, participate in or condone the inappropriate use of our characters in this manner.
