Toyguide Update: Jango Fett (SL07)

SL07_Jango_preview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with the next entry in the Star Wars Rebel/Saga Legends 3-3/4″ line. Next, we take a look at Jango Fett (SL07) from the Saga Legends line.

PROS: Despite its limited POA design, this sculpt for Jango gives any of the super articulated versions a run for their money. The overall body proportions seem to be more accurate, with a stockier build that captures Temuera Morrison’s body type nicely. This is the Geonosis Arena version so the proper jetpack has been included and it stays put when attached. Also included are his signature blasters which do their job well. This figure is a repaint of the 2013 Mission Series figure that had an unexplained black glove on one hand – this version features matching hand paint apps.

CONS: The neck has a slightly downward angle sculpt (clearly evident in profile images) which gives an odd tilt when posing the head in certain directions. Since this is a “Legends” figure, there are no working holsters to stow the blasters so be prepared crawl around looking for them if you (or a child) misplace one… or both.

realmrecap_news

Our show returns this week as Flyguy and I discuss the latest in Star Wars news and collecting. Finally, Star Wars Rebels figures are starting to hit stores from coast to coast. New images for the SH Figuarts line of 6” figures have hit the web and they do look impressive… most impressive. The biggest news this past week was the reveal of the title of Star Wars Episode VII. If anything, it further “awakened” our curiosity as to what we can expect next year. All this and much more on Episode 39 of The Realm Recap!

Toyguide Update: C1-10P “Chopper” (SL06)

SWR_chopper_TG_preview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with the next entry in the Star Wars Rebels 3-3/4″ line. Next, we take a look at C1-10P aka “Chopper” (SL06) from the Saga Legends line.

PROS: Great Ralph McQuarrie-esque design, solid sculpt and decent deco – looks fantastic with the other Star Wars Rebels figures.  Fits in the Phantom’s cargo area which looks to have been sculpted with him in mind. Surprisingly, he even fits in the Phantom’s cockpit with minimal effort.

CONS: Sure to be a popular figure, Chopper may prove to be a difficult find at first at one per case. Doesn’t have the arm attachments for the head (which I think is part of his signature look), nor the middle leg or rocket booster — probably to double-dip for a future retool. A few minor paint issues but nothing too detrimental overall.

Toyguide Update: Agent Kallus (SL05)

SWR_kallus_TGpreview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with the next entry in the Star Wars Rebels 3-3/4″ line. Next, we take a look at Agent Kallus (SL05) from the Saga Legends line.

PROS: As cool a figure as his character is on the show, Agent Kallus looks best displayed with a nice squad of stormtroopers, commanding them to wipe out the Rebels. For a figure essentially dressed in black, there is a lot going on in terms of color and finishes. Different shades of black, gray and blue-gray break up the outfit as well as the use of matte and gloss paint to make the gloves and boot pop. He includes his cool bo-rifle which he can wield with extreme prejudice.

CONS: Agent Kallus is currently only available in the first Rebels/Saga Legends case assortment (1 per case). It is unknown if he’s slated as a carry forward in later waves. Would have loved a removable helmet (to show off those killer 70’s mutton chops) or to be able to attach the bo-rifle to his back like in the series.

Toyguide Update: Kanan Jarrus (SL04)

SWR_kanan_TGpreview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with the next entry in the Star Wars Rebels 3-3/4″ line. Next, we take a look at Kanan Jarrus (SL04) from the Saga Legends line.

PROS: Yep, another Kanan but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Hasbro (and Lucasfilm/Disney) wants to make sure kids are bombarded with the new characters in the Star Wars universe so it only makes sense to get “the leader” out there en mass. Again, this is a repack but it does have a tighter deco/and assembly than my Jedi Reveal pack figure had (your experience may vary of course).

CONS: While it’s understandable that Kanan is getting an individual carded release, we aren’t getting separate figures of Zeb, Hera or Sabine (main characters of the series and crew of the Ghost) on basic cards. Again, distribution of the figures is still lagging behind the debut of the show but they are starting to hit in the US finally (Target, Walmart, Toys”R”US) so keep checking those stores.

Toyguide Update: The Inquisitor (SL03)

SWR_Inquisitor_TGpreview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with the next entry in the Star Wars Rebels 3-3/4″ line. Next, we take a look at The Inquisitor (SL03) from the Saga Legends line.

PROS: One of, if not, the best Star Wars Rebels figure thus far. Great vintage-esque design, crisp sculpt and the paint application is pretty much spot on.

CONS: Some don’t like the simplistic design of the series and the limited articulation. Distribution of the figures is still lagging behind the debut of the show but they are starting to hit in the US finally so keep checking those stores.

Toyguide Update: Ezra Bridger (SL02)

SWR_ezra_TGpreview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with the next entry in the Star Wars Rebels 3-3/4″ line. Next, we take a look at the Ezra Bridger (SL02) from the Saga Legends line.

PROS: For an animated 5 POA figure, it is as good as can be expected. A pretty spot on likeness and its nice to get the correct logo on his back for the individual release. Helmet fits snuggly without risk of it falling off. There will be no shortage of Ezra figures out there once they hit retail more widely which is good for a main character.

CONS: Like many recent figures, the paint job on this particular sample is a bit shaky as there are several instances of paint bleed or too thin of an application, allowing the color of the plastic to show through. No lightsaber blaster or backpack is included.
