Yakface forum member acklayhunter has shared a close up image of the new Tauntaun mold courtesy of Banthaskull.com – look closely by clicking on the image above… you’ll see there is a clear line there that Hasbro has apparently made as a “place holder” for what could be an eventual re-release with a split belly so you can keep your Hoth Luke figures nice and warm in native Hoth intestines!

The newest Target Exclusive have started showing up around the country, and while there does seem to be a bite in the wallet for the Landspeeder and Luke’s Tauntaun (087-06-1732) at $24.99 a pop, the Search for Luke Skywalker set (087-06-1749) is well worth its $24.99 pricepoint. Look for these exclusives on the endcap, not in the aisle, in most stores.
PROS: We’ve suffered through a bulky version as well as poorly articulated and oddly colored versions, now we’re treated to a superbly sculpted and articulated figure that has accessories in spades! A perfect candidate for army building especially since it’s reshipping in wave 9 case assortments.
CONS: The most glaring oversight here is the lack of a holster. It’s inclusion would have put this figure in the “no need to make another one ever again” category, but sadly it falls short of that honor.

Unsure if you want to fork over $24.99 for the latest version of Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder? Yakface forum member darthmadonna has shared another comparison pic, this time with the latest version alongside the SAGA version from nearly a decade ago.

Yakface forum member darthmadonna has posted a nice comparison of Hasbro’s new Tauntauns, with an older version next to them. Check it out and good luck hunting down this new beast at your local Target stores after the jump!
We’ve received reports that the Target exclusive Landspeeder and Luke Skywalker’s Tauntaun (both in Vintage packaging) are starting to hit stores this week for UPDATE: $24.99 each. Good luck on your hunting! DPCI 087-06-1732
This morning I was finally able to get my hands on new figures from the Vintage Collection from my local Target. Other figures shipping in this case are Luke Skywalker (Death Star Escape), Logray, Wicket, Jango Fett, Rebel Fleet Trooper. All of which include the mailaway Prototype Armor Boba Fett sticker and form.
PROS: Finally, the nearly definitive Bespin Han has been delivered! Hasbro went the extra mile with this release by tooling an excellent sculpt loaded with articulation and the included accessories are gravy as well.
CONS: A minor quibble is that the thigh strap is missing from the holster – not a deal breaker, but it would have really brought this version into the perfect category. Even though it includes the welder and goggles*, one wonders why a gas mask or binders weren’t included. *Hasbro must really have an affinity for the welding profession considering similar accessories were included with the Echo Base version.)

PROS: This never-before-offered figure looks striking both on and off the card. Nice paint apps where applicable and uses a great sculpt as a base. Shipping now and in a reinforced shipping mailer.
CONS: Being a kitbashed figure, it’s not entirely accurate in terms of accuracy to the test costume, namely the inclusion of the holster. Another Boba Fett mailaway? Hopefully Hasbro ventures out to other Star Wars characters for the next one. This figure is part of the sequential number system usually reserved for figures available at retail.
