Thanks to our friend Rich Alot from over at Rebelscum/Cool Toy Review, we can present to you a few photos from the floor of Hasbro’s ‘Twas the Night Before…Party last night. It goes without saying that Hasbro really is honoring that statement saying that the Black Series is meant for collectors as some of these figures are the best issues that have ever been done.

Episode 406: Size DOES Matter

Star-Wars-Action-News-Enhanced-Podcast-Feed2-300x225

In 2007, the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars brought an onslaught of toys, collectibles, and commemorative items. But of all the 30th Anniversary items only one provided new insight into the Star Wars saga — J.W. Rinzler’s The Making of Star Wars. With that book’s success Rinzler followed up with The Making of The Empire Strikes Back for Episode V’s 30th anniversary in 2010. Now, Rinzler completes his trilogy with The Making of Return of the Jedi, and he may have saved the best for last. On this week’s Star Wars Action News podcast, Brock gives a hands-on review of this impressive tome, which is in bookstores today!

Also on this week’s show, Marjorie and Arnie have the entire first wave of Hasbro’s 6-inch Black Series figures in hand. With X-Wing Luke Skwalker, R2-D2, Darth Maul, and a Sandtrooper, how does this new line of figures hold up? Listen to hear their review.

With some real (trick or) treats in Target’s Halloween section and a report from Project Comic-Con in St. Louis, it’s all in the new Star Wars Action News podcast!

Toy Hunter at ToyMan Collector Show

toymancollectorshow

While at the St. Louis ToyMan collector show over the weekend, I was able to meet a special guest of the show who was recording for an upcoming episode of Toy Hunter!  I also snapped some pics of this ever-growing collecting event that is gaining national attention – check them out in the forums!

Jordan also wanted me to mention that his Halloween Special will be airing at 9pm Eastern Time on Sunday October 20, so be sure to check out your local listings on the Travel Channel!

Star Wars Celebration Diorama Project

upgheader

Star Wars Celebration VII will be in Anaheim in 2015, and some of our forum customizers have their eyes set on displaying a massive diorama there for all to see.  We worked to do this before in 2007 for Celebration IV so there is precedent, but these projects take a lot of coordination and effort.  The payoff is great though to see it all come together.

Do you have what it takes to join in?  We’re still in the very early stages of this project, and encourage all customizers to check it out and see if you’d like to take part in this after the jump!  We also encourage for all diorama builders out there to offer their suggestions to help make this project a success.

This weekend was Wizard World Chicago 2013, and the Star Wars Action News crew were there, as were tons of Star Wars toys. From rare vintage Star Wars items from Hasbro and Palitoy to new Black Series figures in both scales! With a new show layout and big guests, listen to find out if you should attend the next Wizard World in your area!

But the biggest news of the week is Hasbro’s new Black Series figures! The new wave of 3.75-inch figures are hitting stores coast to coast. The hosts provide a carded review of these new figures and detail some problems that carded collectors may need to watch out for!

With Star Wars burlesque at Chicago’s Gorilla Tango Theater, disappointment at D23, and more, it’s all in this week’s Star Wars Action News!
