Custom Cantina Bar Update

3DCANTINA

For those interested in the 3D printed, custom Cantina Bar/Distillery we showcased yesterday, great news! It is now available to purchase through ShapeWays.com. The “Space Tavern Drink Dispenser” will arrive unfinished so you’ll have to finish the deco on your own (or commission someone to do it for you).

A huge thanks to Kodiak3d for making these available, I ordered mine and can’t wait to add it to my display!

Star-Wars-Action-News-Enhanced-Podcast-Feed2-300x225

Wizard World conventions are a staple for sci-fi and comic book fans.  Having produced their multi-city conventions for years in Philadelphia, Chicago, and many other cities, they now expand their reach deeper in the midwest this year with Wizard World St. Louis!  Marjorie and Arnie were at the con meeting Star Wars fans, celebrities, and seeing what Star Wars collectibles were for sale!  With the 2014 St. Louis convention already announced, should you save the date?  Listen to Arnie & Marjorie’s report to find out!

Also this week, Johnathan is back with a look at the 2013 Movie Heroes action figures, Jerry gives a Vintage Viewpoint from Endor, and Steve the Gingerprince reports in from the UK–with a chance for one lucky listener to win some of the 2013 Yoda carded Clone Wars figures not released in the USA!

Toyguide Update: R7-A7 (CW43)

CW43_preview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with our look back at some of the older Clone Wars figures that we have yet to add to the archives. We continue with Ahsoka’s astromech R7-A7 (CW43).

PROS: It took a couple of years after the releases of Ahsoka and her unique Jedi Starfighter, but finally Hasbro gave collectors the final piece of the trifecta in 2011. R7-A7 uses the solid R3-S6 mold with opening access panels and extending utility arms. It also retains the vestigial grappling hook from R2-D2.

CONS: None really other than the delay it took for collectors to finally add it to their collections.

Customizer Spotlight: Kodiak3d

Customizer Kodiak3d has shared pics of an amazing 3D printed version of the cantina centerpiece in the forums!

After you click through and see the pics of this unpainted all the way through to completion, I am sure you will enjoy the images but if you’re like me, you may also be annoyed that Hasbro has focused on other areas instead of some small iconic environments like this.

Toyguide Update: Republic Commando Boss (CW11) Variant

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of the Republic Commando Boss (CW11) Variant.

PROS: Hasbro looks to have tweaked the paint ops for this figure, specifically the zip-line backpack to incorporate some of the orange accents from the armor, making for a more visually interesting piece overall. The oranges seem to match perfectly between the figure and the pack so no one item stands apart from the other.

CONS: Not currently available in the US.

Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and to judge for yourself whether this figure is worth tracking down for your collection.

Ben Kenobi Mythos Statue Production Change

ben_mythos_preview

Collectors of the Mythos line, specifically the Ben Kenobi: Desert Nomad, take note. There has been a production change with this piece and it is NO LONGER including his signature lightsaber hilt that is attached to his belt as shown in Sideshow’s solicitation imagery. This has been confirmed via a discussion with SSC’s Customer Service Dept.

Also, there appears to be a discrepancy in the edition size as the base (currently) lists a 1200 production run while Sideshow’s site still lists it as 2000. No word if the edition size was revised down or if this is a production error on the base itself.
