Toyguide Update: CW55 Savage Opress

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Savage Opress (CW55) from The Clone Wars Collection.

PROS: As Hasbro’s first Savage attempt, they seem to have nailed the likeness pretty well from the facial sculpt to the overall size of figure. Well articulated and accessorized – perfect for laying the smack down on your clones and Jedi figures.

CONS: No lightsaber included. The yellow color seems a little washed out compared to the CGI render. Could have been served better with ball jointed hips in combination with a soft goods skirt. The right leg seems to be slightly longer than the left (at least on mine) and as a result he leans to the left. He’ll be popular so tracking him down may be difficult for some.

Toyguide Update: CW54 Saesee Tiin

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Saesee Tiin (CW54) from The Clone Wars Collection.

PROS: Not only does Hasbro issue a new figure in Saesee Tiin, they give him some fun extras to add more play options outside of the events of the Clone Wars series while paying homage to a previous Clone Wars inspired figure. Soft goods work well for allowing extra posing options often limited by “hard goods” skirts.

CONS: None, other than the lack of ankle articulation that some collectors demand in figures these days.

Toyguide Update: CW63 Chewbacca

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Chewbacca (CW63) from The Clone Wars Collection.

PROS: Hasbro has done an excellent job of translating the Chewbacca of the Clone Wars in to figure form. There is a lot sculpt work done here due to the furry nature of the character so I imagine a fair amount of the figure budget was set aside for Chewie. Despite the animated nature, Hasbro still managed to incorporate all the necessary articulation without the “fur” becoming a hinderance to the poseability. A great highlight here is the work done on the non-firing bowcaster – it maybe one of the best design attempted thus far for any Chewbacca figure as it has a very Vintage Kenner feel about it, right down to the color of the plastic.

CONS: None, other than it might be tough to find in some areas, but I guess that can be said sadly about most figures these days, right?

Droid Attack on the Coronet Hits TRU

Forum member combatJedi reports finding the new exclusive Droid Attack on the Coronet Battle Pack at a Toys”R”Us just yesterday – so might be a good idea to swing on by your local store to see if they have this in stock yet ($24.99).  Hopefully this set goes over well and gets Hasbro to make a new OT Probe Droid set as well (who doesn’t want that anyway?)!

Note – some of the latest Clone Wars figures have been sighted at Toys”R”Us this week as well via pallet displays in front of the Star Wars promo sections at the front of the store (Savage Opress, Seripas, Saesee Tiin)… as always, your mileage may vary.

Good luck!

Toyguide Update: CW58 Even Piell

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Even Piell (CW58) from The Clone Wars Collection.

PROS: Despite its short stature and animated stylings, Hasbro still manages to articulate Master Piell to most collectors’ satisfaction. Nifty backpack with rope works well and is an accessory that make toys “toys” – you know, things you play with?

CONS: Since Even Piell went down like a sack of potatoes in the Citadel Rescue episode I don’t suspect he’ll be issued again, if ever. So, you best pick him up if you can find him.
