Yakfinities Customizing Challenges Continue

cradossk

One of the best things about customizing is recognizing the many different techniques and approaches to creating custom figures.  Case in point, recently we’ve seen two very different approaches to creating a Trandoshan – head to the forums for a closer look.

Also, our current Yakfinities Customizing Challenge continues through the end of March – and the theme is Bounty Hunters – so if you’re a customizer, what are you waiting for?  Create a custom and join in the fun… over 40 customs have already been created this round, and we hope to see many more!  And remember, we give away prizes at the end.

Customizer Spotlight: Peakob1

Tonight we take a look at one of the coolest customizing projects ever posted in our forums – The Box Project – by forum member Peakob1.  This Clone Wars themed project entails customs of 12 of the best bounty hunters in the galaxy.  Check it out after the jump!

Personal Note:  It’s a shame that Hasbro let the Clone Wars line die with such a whimper, starting in 2012 they had pretty much abandoned the line and their last efforts included completely unnecessary resculpts of characters like Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.  This project just goes to show how much potential that line had.

Custom “Realistic Style” Chopper Droid

Hasbro’s take on Chopper from Star Wars Rebels is a fun little droid, but unfortunately it falls short a bit in the articulation department.  While it’s a figure that my son loves, I wanted something a little different that fit in better with my collection, so I took some creative liberties and made my own version for display with my stuff.  This one took a little more effort than recent customs of the AT-DP Driver and Agent Kallus – check it out and share your thoughts after the jump!

Yakfinities: Create a Custom Bounty Hunter

yakfinities

The current Yakfinities Customizing Challenge has just over a month left – so if you like to customize, or have never created a custom but are looking for a reason to, we invite you to participate in Yakfinities #55 – Bounty Hunters.

The variety of entries thus far has been great, but there’s always room for more submissions, and remember, we’re going to have some random winners (regardless of skill level) after this wraps up at the end of March – so head on over to the forums and submit your custom, or just click through to see the cool creations made already.

Custom AT-DP Driver w/ Super Articulation

A lot of our readers find the Rebels figure line intriguing (when they can actually find them in stores), but frustrating because so many of us would like for the figures to have more articulation, or even have more of a hybrid/realistic appearance.

There’s a few figures I’ve toyed around with a bit that I’ll be sharing that are pretty easy modifications (little customizing experience necessary) that I’ll be sharing pics of… first off, the AT-DP driver.  Check it out in the forums and let me know what you think (I know it’s not 100% screen accurate, btw).

Customizer Mega Spotlight

Tonight we give thanks to a few of the many customizers who grace our forums by showcasing some of their work in our latest customizer spotlight.

First up, forumite Grimace shares a ton of custom mini-rigs he has completed, along with an impressive gallery of customs he’s purchased from other collectors as well.  Check them out here.

Our next highlight is courtesy of forum member JawaKing, who shows off a very cool one-footed “choco-droid” and also some other very interesting droid designs in his thread.

Monsterhjerne also joins in the fun, with a group of Biker Scout custom that he’s upgraded – you’ll want to check out his repainted speeder bikes as well.

Last but certainly not least, Darth Daddy (active as usual with great new customs) has created an upgraded Chopper droid from Rebels that is hopefully on Hasbro’s radar for an upgrade.

As always, the customizers appreciate feedback from their fellow collectors, so please feel free to share your thoughts in the forums or here in our comments section.
