Yakfinities #50 – The Original Trilogy

yak50header

Our first customizing challenge here at Yakface began as a bit of an experiment back in August of 2006 – and here we are now, seven years later, and have hit a bit of a milestone – the 50th Yakfinities Customizing Challenge has begun!

The rules are simple… create any sort of new custom that is inspired by the Original Trilogy… it can be that certain cantina alien that Hasbro just won’t pull the trigger on, an ultimate Luke Skywalker,  something “off screen,” or whatever – the choice is yours.

But this time, rather than the usual random winners, we will also be selecting a Grand Prize winner… which will receive the upcoming Amazon exclusive Droid Factory wave of figures.

Head on over to the forums for all the details after the jump!

Customizer Mega Spotlight

This weekend we spotlight more of the great customizing work being done by Star Wars fans in our forum community.

Leading this off, we have Stocos28, who shines as always with a Twi’lek Jedi, and more which can be seen here.

Next up, we have a great tribute to the vintage bootleg Uzay Headman and several other customs, courtesy of Tonphanan.

After that, try to keep your socks on when you see the Pong Krell custom by Darth Daddy (we are all still wondering why Hasbro hasn’t made this guy yet).

Last by not least, darth naes shows off a killer battle damaged Darth Vader custom from the Dark Horse comics series in his customizing thread.

The current Yakfinities Customizing Challenge has seen some great entries over the past week – and there’s still some time left to get a custom entry submitted before the deadline on Sunday, September 30th.

This one’s easy too – just make and submit a custom of something that appeared in ANY Star Wars Dark Horse comic, and your submission has been entered!  Or, if you’d rather just kick back and check out the latest entries, just hop on over to the forums!

Rancors and Zombies and Sith Lords! Oh my!

The latest installment in The Enloe Trials Photonovel Series is here… in this new adventure, Rykrof Enloe and his comrades face death at every turn as they seek an ancient Sith artifact on Dathomir.

It’s a race against time and countless dangers in Chapter IV – Shadow of Death – check it out after the jump!

Customizer Mega Spotlight

We are way overdue for another spotlight showing off the fantastic customizing skills of our forum members, so let’s get to it!

First up, Mousedroid-Hoojib continues to show the capabilities of soft goods customizing with a new version of Padme, which can be seen here.

Forum member wraith_nineyak also joins in the mix, with a new animated custom of Sergeant Krayt from the Clone Wars.

Peakob1 also creates a new Clone Wars custom – but one with a twist by making a realistic custom figure of Rush Clovis.

Last but not least, you have to check out Evilivo’s custom pre-cyborg General Grievous, which is a huge improvement over the Hasbro version… it even has real hair!

Star Wars Celebration Diorama Project

upgheader

Star Wars Celebration VII will be in Anaheim in 2015, and some of our forum customizers have their eyes set on displaying a massive diorama there for all to see.  We worked to do this before in 2007 for Celebration IV so there is precedent, but these projects take a lot of coordination and effort.  The payoff is great though to see it all come together.

Do you have what it takes to join in?  We’re still in the very early stages of this project, and encourage all customizers to check it out and see if you’d like to take part in this after the jump!  We also encourage for all diorama builders out there to offer their suggestions to help make this project a success.
