Toyguide Update: Disney Store Exclusive Talking Luke Skywalker

talk_luke_preview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with our next entry for the Disney Store exclusive large scale talking figures. We continue with the fun, but flawed Luke Skywalker.

PROS:  The overall sculpt is great with a passable resemblance to a youthful Mark Hamill. The flight suit has a nice dirty wash that adds a bit of depth to the outfit. Features 22 high-quality sound effects that are pulled right from A New Hope’s climactic assault on the Death StarSurprisingly, Disney did their homework and gave him the proper pistol when they could have easily went with the design used for Han. Includes a removable helmet that fits snuggly, though maybe a tad oversized.

CONS: Luke with no lightsaber? Blasphemy I say, but I suppose it is technically accurate since he didn’t wield it while wearing his X-wing flight gear, but why include the blaster since he didn’t use that particular model either? The hair looks too dark for my liking — coupled with the glossy plastic makes it look as if he is sporting a chocolate hair helmet.

Toyguide Update: Disney Store Exclusive Talking Han Solo

talking_han_preview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with our next entry for the Disney Store exclusive large scale talking figures. We continue with the fun, but flawed Han Solo.

PROS:  The overall sculpt is great with a decent resemblance to a youthful Harrison Ford and captures the iconic look of his smuggler outfit. Articulation is similar to the stormtrooper with 13 POA, but Han has upgraded ball-jointed hips for a far better range of poses. Features 19 high-quality sound effects that are pulled right from A New Hope and are very clear, very loud. SFX activation buttons are well hidden and don’t distract from the overall design of the figure. Battery access is hidden behind his removable vest which also help hide the screw holes in his back.

CONS: Where the glossiness of the plastic benefitted the stormtrooper, it really detracts from Han, giving him a sweaty, oily look that honestly cheapens the look of the whole piece. I’d rate this as my least favorite of the four talking figures.

Toyguide Update: Disney Store Exclusive Talking Stormtrooper

talkingST_preview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with our first entry for the Disney Store exclusive large scale talking figures. We kick things off with the Stormtrooper.

PROS: Proving that a realistically styled and detailed figures will draw both young and old collectors alike, Disney really hands Hasbro their lunch in producing a desirable figure at a relatively modest price point. The overall sculpt is fantastic (with accurate human proportions) and stable for displaying in various poses thanks to multiple points of articulation. The 20+ high-quality sound effects are pulled right from A New Hope and are very clear with little to no distortion. Batteries (included) are removable to prevent corrosion.

CONS: Not really anything to speak of other than the included holster is functional for no apparent reason and is inaccurately sculpted.
