Theory: Star Wars Day Astromech Coming Soon?

SWD_mysteryastromech

About a month ago, an unnamed mystery build-a-droid astromech surfaced online. Various theories exist as to the potential release of this figure, but with the recent ramp up of the Star Wars Day/May Fourth promotions, I theorize that this will be a Disneyland Park Commemorative Figure. A recent blog post states that special “commemorative merchandise” will be available that day, and based on the black/yellow/white colors of the logo, the corresponding colors of the droid and the precedent for Disney releasing Limited Edition astromechs, this seems to fit that theory quite well.

Joining forces with one of Hollywood’s most iconic brands, runDisney is creating another transportive race weekend — the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend presented by Sierra Nevada Corporation at Disneyland Resort. Your intergalactic journey begins January 15 and runs through January 18, 2015.

The Star Wars event is the fourth runDisney race weekend scheduled for 2015 at Disneyland Resort, doubling the number of races held in 2013. The new race weekend offers runners a variety of race experiences for all levels, from Padawans to Jedi Masters — kids races, a 5K, a 10K and a half marathon. And for those who show an even greater strength with the Force, there will be a two-race challenge involving the 10K and the half marathon with a commemorative medal awaiting every finisher.

VinylmationWorld.com has posted image of the complete set (minus the chaser) of blind boxed Vinylmation Series 4 figures coming to DisneyWorld, Disneyland and DisneyStore.com later this month. The Empire Strikes Back-themed series includes: Luke Skywalker (Hoth), Han Solo (Hoth), R2-D2 (Dagobah), Princess Leia (Bespin Gown), Ugnaught, Bossk, 4-LOM, Zuckuss, Snowtrooper, Dengar and Tauntaun.
