Hasbro Toys: The Force Awakens

TIE

We’ve seen the official trailer countless times, some great concept art, and even some apparent 6″ scale figure prototypes, but there are so many questions on what direction Hasbro is going to be taking with the toy line for The Force Awakens.

Another cool art image was recently revealed by Indie Revolver, which appears to show a very cool new ship design for the next film.  How would this translate into a toy?  Pretty awesome, one would think, if Hasbro chooses to make it.  Hopefully we’ll get a taste of what’s coming in February during Toy Fair.  Until then, head on over to the forums to join in the EP7 toy discussions, and remember, spoilers apply.

Walgreens Continues to Stock 6″ Black Series

The pickings at most retail stores may be slim right now, but it seems Walgreens continues to receive a steady stock of new 6″ scale Black Series figures.  If you’re in an area with a lot of these stores, chances are a bit of persistence will pay off if you are looking to score Hasbro’s latest wave.

Star-Wars-Action-News-Enhanced-Podcast-Feed2-300x225

Arnie and Marjorie are joined by the Gingerprince, Johnathan, Curtis, Daryl, Brock, Jay, and Andrew to look back at the Hasbro Star Wars toys of 2015!

For Star Wars fans 2014 came in with a whimper but went out with a bang!  From a year that started with few Star Wars figures to be found in either the 4 or 6-inch scales, it ended with Expanded Universe 6-Inch figures, new lines of 3.75-inch figures, and Star Wars fans everywhere trying to “get to da Chopper!”
Now in the first part of the Star Wars Action News year in review, the Star Wars Action News team looks back at 2014 from the point of view of a toy collector.  Marjorie and Arnie are joined by several other collectors to rate the best and worst of Star Wars collecting this year!

When Star Wars Ruled the Toy Aisle

retail2009

While cleaning out my hard drive, I came across some photos from December 2009 that I had snapped that showed what was on the pegs back then at various retailers.  Head to the forums to check them out.

Personal Note:  What a difference five years makes!  What we see now, in my opinion, is the direct result of very poor management of the Star Wars brand since the 2012 line… questionable figure selections, shoddy case ratios, drops in quality, weird gimmicks aimed at kids, and focus away from the lifeblood of the line – the 3.75″ toys.

Post-Christmas Clearances at Retail

Now that the dust is starting to settle following the Christmas rush, retailers are beginning to mark down some items in the toy section as they prepare for the new year.

Among the items being cleared out is the Target exclusive Shadow Squadron set, being spotted at many Target stores for $35.00.  Wal-Mart is also slashing prices on the Jakks Pacific 31″ figures, down to $20.00.  We’ve even seen a report of the 31″ Vader being found at Target for as low as $5.00 and some of the Target exclusive Hot Wheels sets being marked down too.
