Toyguide Update: TBS #23 Toryn Farr
The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with our next entry in the The Black Series 3-3/4″ line. Today, we take a look at Toryn Farr (#23).
PROS: It seems like we’ve waited forever to get this figure, but once Hasbro released the Vintage Collection Leia (Hoth Outfit) back in 2010, it was all but a matter of time before they got to her. What’s nice/surprising is that they didn’t just take that Leia figure and give it a new head. Hasbro developed a new vest as well as revised forearms and hands to make her screen accurate. Included with Toryn Farr is a communication headset and blaster pistol (for good measure).
CONS: Nothing really to speak of but as a personal preference, I would have liked a microphone stalk included on the headset for a little more accuracy and possibly the handheld device used on the tactical screen on Echo Base.

Yakfinities #52 – Deadline Extended
The current Yakfinities Customizing Challenge runs through July 31 – have you gotten your entry in yet? If not, head to the forums to submit your custom, or check out the latest entries by clicking here.
UPDATE: Deadline is July 31 for this one due to an oversight on my part. Sorry for the confusion.
Toyguide Update: TBS #25 Dak Ralter
The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with our next entry in the The Black Series 3-3/4″ line. Today, we take a look at Luke’s short-lived gunner, Dak Ralter (#25).
PROS: Well, if you like relatively generic army builder pilots for your Rebel dioramas and/or Imperial fodder this figure will perform that task adequately. Includes extra weapons – albeit the same as the TVC release – to accessorize other figures (can you tell I’m reaching?)
CONS: Did we really need/ask for another Dak? Paint on the head/balaclava is thin, exposing the underlying skin tone plastic and not the tightest of paint apps on the head/face with bleedover onto the checks (at least on my sample – your experience may vary). This figure does have slight color differences compared the previous release TVC Dack/Dak. So if you’re a one of everything 3-3/4″ kind of collector you’ll need this one, too.

TBS Yoda Leg Datestamp/Imprinting Update
For my initial toyguide entry for the Black Series Yoda (#22), my loose sample (acquired off eBay) had the date/trademark stamp on the front of each leg. I’m happy to say after securing a carded sample and opening it, the offending info has moved to its rightful place on the back and side of the legs. Earth shattering I know, but it does correct a bit of an aesthetic eyesore that others, including myself, took note. Click the image above for a closer look (L=ebay/R=Production). The toyguide will be updated to reflect the correct production piece in the near future.
Walgreens Exclusive 6″ Boba Fett Coming

Toyguide Update: TBS #24 Snowtrooper Commander
The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with our next entry in the The Black Series 3-3/4″ line. Today, we take a look at the Snowtrooper Commander (#24).
PROS: Hands down the best Snowtrooper Commander we’ve ever been offered, it also may be the best Snowtrooper ever. Everything about this figure works from the sculpt and articulation, to the deco, to the refreshing nonexistent human head under the helmet. At first I wasn’t sure about Hasbro’s choice in using plastic for the “skirt” of the figure, but once in-hand, I was surprised at how much I liked the design and the integrated holster is a nice touch as well.
CONS: If there was anything to take issue with is that the hands do pop off rather easily when trying to pose the figure holding the blaster with both hands – an issue that often accompanies figures with wrist/forearm joints. Also, the silver disks are missing on the flares of each side of the helmet.

Customizer Spotlight: Buried Egg
Few things in the hobby excite me as much as seeing collectors who know how to display their stuff in massive dioramas, so when forum member Buried Egg shared pics of his Emperor’s Arrival scene, I immediately felt ashamed of my personal pathetic display of this icon scene, and had to share his work with all of you.
It’s stuff like this that inspires me to customize more when I can, and put extra effort into photonovels and the like. For more of his work and other great dioramas by Yakface forum members, head to the forums.
Toyguide Update: Mission Series – Senate Duel
The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with our next entry in the Mission Series line as we take a look at the Senate Duel set featuring Darth Sidious and Yoda.
PROS: As many of you know, I’m totally in the bag for this line so it doesn’t take much to impress me when it comes to Saga Legends/Mission Series figures. That being said, the Darth Sidious has a very Kenner-esque flare from the design of the robed legs to the rather static sculpt. Surprisingly, Darth Sidious has 7 POA (he has swivel wrists!) if you count the nearly unposeable head/neck joint.
CONS: The deco for Sidious’ face isn’t great – something that is a common theme for this line so I’d expect to see samples both better and worse than the version I have. Yoda is a repaint/repack so there’s not much to complain or rejoice about there.

Concept Series Update #18
After a bit of a delay between updates, localgotal strikes back with a vengeance with his latest additions to the popular Concept Series lineup he’s created. This latest update harkens back to the roots of the Star Wars saga, and includes three figures that are long overdue for updates by Hasbro.
Why they aren’t making figures like he proposes is quite beyond my capacity. Check them out, enjoy the pics, and join in the discussion after the jump!
