Black Series Taped Fresh from the Case?

TBS-tapeshot

Yak Face reader Adam Vinson, writes in with an interesting find at his Target. It appears that the latest batch of The Black Series figure have the bubble taped fresh from the case in order to address the bubble adhesion issue. Here is his report:

Looks like Hasbro is reading the reports or at least Target is….Notice the tape, this was a fresh new case, all of the figures had it.

Can’t Hasbro do better than this?

With Hasbro’s new lineup, I was optimistic that we’d see some real positive changes.  And while we might not be drowning in new product like we were with Hasbro’s over-zealous 2012 launch, it’s hard to walk by much of Hasbro’s toy sections these days without yawning.

That being said, I hope that the hobby has better days ahead and we will return to the glory days of 2005-2009 when Hasbro had a better grasp on demand and had a broader selection of impressive figures available at retail.  That was all before bandwagon trends like Fighter Pods and Angry Birds became such a priority for them.

I think it’s time to go back to the bread and butter and pull the collectors back in like Hasbro has had to do a couple times in the past and realize that in 2012, they abused the license and pushed kids away… and now most of them moved onto something else.   And they won’t be back until Rebels launches.

As for catering to collectors, I’m not sure they are really doing that with their launch to The Black Series.  Angry Birds isn’t going to interest anybody – not kids or adults.  It’s a lame crossover that has been overplayed.  Yet they’ll invest in this instead of some 3.75″ environments.  Seriously?

Episode 402: Separation Anxiety

New figures are on the pegs and Marjorie and Arnie are back in the Star Wars Action News studio ready to review them! On this week’s podcast the hosts look at new new Saga Legends figures from Hasbro. With limited articulation and smaller card backs these figures have divided collectors between those who demand more collector-oriented figures and those who find the limited pose-ability a throwback to vintage collecting. Hasbro claims they’re some of the best sculpts they’ve ever done. Listen to find out the final verdict!

But with the new items shipping there seem to be new problems for collectors. The figures seem to have problem staying on the cards, and reports are widespread regarding shipping damage to the Amazon exclusive Slave I. Even those who received perfect Slave I vehicles may still have issues as many report manufacturing issues and missing parts with Boba Fett’s iconic ship. Marjorie and Arnie run down these disappointing details.

With listener voicemails giving their thoughts on the toys, a review of the Star Wars chess set, and a Legend-ary Darth Maul collectible, it’s all on this week’s Star Wars Action News podcast!
