VC01 Dengar

The Yakface Toyguide updates continue today with the addition of the Dengar: the next basic figure entry in the 2010 Vintage Collection.

PROS: And you thought the 2004 Saga version was nice? Although that six year old figure still has a certain charm about it, the 2010 version is a solid upgrade in terms of sculpt, articulation and accessories. This is, by all accounts, the definitive “Payback”.

CONS: None that I can discern – though it would be cool if you could mount the blaster rifle to his backpack.

VC08 Darth Vader

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Darth Vader: the next basic figure entry in the 2010 Vintage Collection.

PROS: A solid enough figure to retire all other Vader versions that feature less articulation than this one.

CONS: Poor sculpt for the right hand as it can’t hold a lightsaber unaided. The three-part helmet is a useless feature as the removal of the neck collar accessory exposes a poor face paint job and misshapen head. Silver “chain” for the cape still looks ridiculous (Hasbro, please retire it). In short, if you aren’t planning on keeping this carded, stick with the 2008 TLC BD No. 8 version and you’ll be just fine.

What If??? Droid Factory Playset

Last night I was thinking about the abandoned concept of a Droid Factory Playset meant to add additional play value to the now expired Build-A-Droid feature from the Legacy Collection and came up with the above mockup.

Is this something you wish Hasbro would have attempted or does the idea of recycling a 30 year old mold smack of desperation? Click the image above for a closer look and if you have an opinion, feel free to comment on this on our Facebook page or in our forums.

VC09 Boba Fett

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of Boba Fett: the next basic figure entry in the 2010 Vintage Collection.

PROS: Best interpretation of the ESB armor to date. The additional deco on the blaster rifle really looks good.

CONS: Like many of the previous Fett’s sharing this sculpt, the jetpack falls off if you look at it wrong. We just got an ESB version of Fett in last year’s TLC line

VC11 (Twin-Pod) Cloud Car Pilot

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of the (Twin-Pod) Cloud Car Pilot: our first basic figure entry in the Vintage Collection.

PROS: Great sculpt and deco – an amalgam of the OTC and Vintage Kenner style outfits. Closer to Ralph McQuarrie’s concept for the character than the final prop used in model photography for ESB.

CONS: Doesn’t include the comlink accessory as past Cloud Car Pilots have had.

New Catalog Confirms Rumored Clone Wars Figures

Yakface forum member “paulskywalker” sent in a few scans of the new Toy Catalog packed in with the new Hasbro vehicles hitting Toys”R”Us stores now which confirms all of the rumored Clone Wars figures we posted last month. Click the image above for a closer look. With this news, we’ve also updated our 2010 Clone Wars Toyguide page to reflect this latest confirmation.

VC10 4-LOM

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with the addition of 4-LOM: the next basic figure entry in the Vintage Collection.

PROS: Excellent sculpt and deco. Another chance to grab him if you missed the TAC version. Looks great carded with the other “Vintage” (VOTC & VTAC) bounty hunters.

CONS: It’s, for all intents and purposes, a straight repack and present TRU pricing makes it $2 more for a figure with no pack-in swag. In other words – bad value.
