Welcome back! After a nice break and a Star Wars Celebration to cover, Jayson and Flyguy are back to break down the latest in collecting news. On this episode we discuss the big reveals from Celebration as well as new items hitting stores (and our wallets). All this and more on episode #110 of The Realm Recap!
Still on the hunt for the short-packed R2-D2 and Han Solo from the 40th Anniversary Collection? Pop into your nearest Walgreens as we’ve been receiving and sharing multiple reports on social media of them hitting steadily across the country.
Here is a great video from Action Figure Attack on Facebook showing the return of the Vintage Collection at Hasbro panel from Star Wars Celebration. Kudos to Hasbro showing that they really do care. Look for TVC to hit pegs once again in Spring 2018.
Gentle Giant has given PG members the first look at their upcoming 2017 convention exclusives: the Han Solo (Ralph McQuarrie) Mini Bust and the Jumbo Kenner Dianoga Trash Monster (complete with Vintage style box and trash compactor foam)!
As a PG Member, you get the first opportunity to secure these prior to their public availability.
Orders for Hasbro 40th Anniversary Collection figures are arriving on doorsteps from HasbroToyShop today. Twitter follower Rob received his R2-D2 in great condition as show above.
Sponsor Entertainment Earth is now taking preorders for the wave 1 case assortment of the 40th Anniversary Collection of Black Series figures. This case contains 8 figures packed out as follows:
1x Han Solo
2x Luke Skywalker
2x Ben (Obi-Wan Kenobi)
2x Princess Leia Organa
1x R2-D2
Since I’ve received dozens of emails, links and images, I’ll state openly here that images for (some) the 40th Anniversary 6″ figures have shown up across social media (via Amazon.com.mx). We won’t be sharing the images publicly per Hasbro’s request. We will say the images confirm the some of the rumors, so watch VERY SOON for preorders to go live on these items and for their full (official) reveal this weekend at Toyfair in New York.
Update: Amazon Mexico has pulled down their links and images for those figures.
Gentle Giant has sent out to its PG Members a preview of the final packaging for the upcoming Jumbo Kenner Han Solo in Carbonite Chamber announced back in April. PG Members can expect to receive the final product in late March/early April. Until then, click through for a behind-the-scenes look at a sample/press sheet for the cardback.
The Vintage Kenner line holds a place of reverence for many collectors to this day — especially the first 12 figures. Over the years we’ve received many different iterations of those characters but two have yet to be represented in the “modern scale” of collecting. What better way to usher in the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars than to have a special assortment of figures paying homage to the line that started it all?
