Last Saturday was the first annual Star Wars Reads Day, an event promoted by Del Rey and Lucasfilm to promote literacy in general, and the reading of Star Wars books in particular. Over 1,000 libraries and book stores across the country took part, with kits provided by Del Rey giving kids activities and crafts, and promoting Star Wars. Marjorie and Arnie of Star Wars Action News trekked to Roseville, MN for one of these events at Barnes & Noble with guests Troy Denning, John Jackson Miller, and Dan Wallace. Those wacky Angry Birds, created by Rovio Entertainment, have already been cast into space. Now they are joining forces with the cast of a beloved space saga.
In Angry Birds Star Wars, a totally new edition of the game out Nov. 8 for iOS, Android and computers, the birds and pigs alike will take on the personalities of characters from the Star Wars saga. “They are not Angry Birds dressed up as Star Wars characters,” says Paul Southern, vice president of licensing and consumer products marketing for Lucasfilm Ltd. “They are characters in their own right.”

On Friday, August 24th at 5 pm, the Digital Stage at Celebration VI – the venue optimized for high-definition digital theatrical exhibition with state-of-the-art surround sound – will present an evening of Star Wars: The Clone Warsentertainment beginning with a special presentation of the Season Four finale, the episodes “Brothers” and “Revenge.” These are followed by “Revival,” the long-awaited Season Premiere, on Cartoon Network this fall, that continues the story of the resurrected Darth Maul.

Gus Lopez and Duncan Jenkins have revealed a new book showcasing some rare collectible available to the cast and crew of the Star Wars films.
Some of the most obscure and scarce Star Wars collectibles ever produced are the items offered to the crew and cast of the Star Wars films. Duncan Jenkins and Gus Lopez take the reader on a tour of crew memorabilia from all of the Star Wars films and productions, from Star Wars: A New Hope to Revenge of the Sith, along with crew memorabilia from Blue Harvest, the Droids and Ewoks cartoons, the Ewok movies, Star Tours, Lucasfilm, Skywalker Ranch, Industrial Light and Magic, and Clone Wars. These extremely limited T-shirts, jackets, coasters, patches, caps, stationery, greeting cards, and invitations are covered in depth. Each chapter is organized by film/production in a snazzy design by Mattias Rendahl offering extensive photographs and information.

Mark your calendars as The Clone Wars Season 4 Blu-ray / DVD release date has been announced for October 23, 2012.
All 22 episodes will be released on Blu-ray in 1080p high definition (2.35:1 widescreen), in 5.1 DTS-HD audio. The DVD will feature an anamorphic transfer with 5.1 Dolby Digital audio with tons of extra features. Head to IGN for more info.
