Episode 353: Collecting Is For Fun!

San Diego Comic-Con International is but a couple days away, but so many exclusives have already been sold! From Sideshow’s Bith band members to the one-sixth scale Commander Fox, plus even Hasbro is in on the action sending preview copies of their Cloud City Carbon Freezing Chamber figure set to select fan collecting sites. On this week’s Star Wars Action News, Marjorie and Arnie run down the latest San Diego Comic Con news, including your last chance to sign up for the Star Wars Fan Breakfast Friday morning! Plus they tell how you can submit a question to be asked by Star Wars Action News during their exclusive Hasbro interview at Comic-Con!

Also this week, Jerry is back with another Vintage Viewpoint. With all the talk of Droid Factory in the modern line, Jerry tells an old-timer’s view of what Droid Factory really is!

With new Target Exclusive figures, new un-articulated Battle Packs, a UK report from The Gingerprince, and a report from the St. Louis Toy Man Toy Show, it’s a jam-packed Star Wars Action News for you to listen to while in line for Hall H!

SDCC Exclusive Price Hike?

According to Hasbro’s latest press release, the SDCC Carbon Freezing Chamber is now $10 higher (up from $69.99) from the info released a couple weeks ago. Here is the updated info:

STAR WARS
STAR WARS VINTAGE SPECIAL EDITION CARBONITE CHAMBER COLLECTOR’S PACK
(Approximate Retail Price: $79.99; Ages 4 & up; Available through HasbroToyShop.com Booth #3329 at San Diego Comic-Con)
Pretend to visit an alternate reality with this incredible package of seven 3.75” STAR WARS figures—one figure from each film in the Saga, and one figure only available in this collectible set.

UPDATE: Yakface Reader and local collector friend Matt M. noted that maybe the reason for the price increase for this set is due to the fact of Hasbro raising the prices of their merchandise starting July 1. A sound theory for sure.

SDCC Star Wars Fan Breakfast

On Friday, July 13th at 7:30 am, Star Wars Action News will be hosting the 2nd Annual Star Wars Fan Breakfast!

When Lucasfilm ended the Star Wars Fan Club, the long tradition of starting “Star Wars Day” at San Diego Comic Con with the Star Wars Fan Club breakfast went with it.  But last year Marjorie and Arnie of Star Wars Action News started a new tradition, the Star Wars Fan Breakfast, and details were just announced for this year’s event!  There is no cost to go, just pay for what you order, and there will be prizes donated by Star Wars Action News, Sideshow Collectibles, and others!

All the details can be found at swactionnews.com
