More TBS TRU Exclusives TBA

TBS_rumor_logo

It looks like the Black Series Battle on Endor boxed set won’t be the only exclusive at Toys”R”Us this year. Rebelscum has posted word that two additional sets are in the works and are in the system at Toys”R”Us in the UK. No details yet other than Cantina Showdown and Jabba’s Rancor Pit but it sounds like we may be getting another shot at some desired TVC figures like Ponda Baba and the Gammorean Guard – but at a price. If these sets are more repacks, do they hold any interest to you, “the collector”?

Angry Birds Star Wars II: Hits 30M Telepod Scans

ABII_riseoftheclones

Rovio Entertainment Ltd is proud to announce that the fans of the massively popular Angry Birds Star Wars II game have scanned their TELEPODS figures into the game more than 30 million times! Released in September 2013, the game features the most extensive roster of playable characters of any Angry Birds title so far, including the first chance to play as the pigs by joining the Pork Side. At launch, Hasbro introduced the innovative TELEPODS platform, powered by Retoy, where players use smart devices to “teleport” their physical TELEPODS figures into game, and released more than 30 different TELEPODS figures including Rebel Birds and Imperial Pigs.

To celebrate this momentous milestone, Rovio is releasing a brand-new chapter for Angry Birds Star Wars II called Rise of the Clones, which brings 44 levels featuring new gameplay elements like wind and water currents.

Toyguide Update: STAR TOURS Search for the Rebel Spy

rebelspy_preview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with a series of entries covering a few of the past STAR TOURS Sets available at Disney Parks. We start things off with the addition of the 2013 Search for the Rebel Spy Figure Set.

PROS: Aside from getting another Sky Trooper, the highlight of this set is the cool Seeker Droid that looks like a cross between a “Bayformer” Decepticon and an Imperial Probe Droid. It features several unique parts that are only available in this set. The deco for all 3 figures is well done as the Signal Droid gets a fresh coat of paint which helps to set it apart from the prior release and the Sky Trooper (depending on which variant you get – see toyguide details for info) again looks cool as the gray stripes break up the stark white armor nicely.

CONS: $34.95 may seem like a high price for 3 figures, but the deco refreshes and the new components should help to sway your opinion, especially if you liked the experience of the ride itself. I know I did. (I was the Rebel Spy!)

Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and judge for yourself whether this set is worth adding to your collection.

Toyguide Update: Disney Store Exclusive Talking Luke Skywalker

talk_luke_preview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume today with our next entry for the Disney Store exclusive large scale talking figures. We continue with the fun, but flawed Luke Skywalker.

PROS:  The overall sculpt is great with a passable resemblance to a youthful Mark Hamill. The flight suit has a nice dirty wash that adds a bit of depth to the outfit. Features 22 high-quality sound effects that are pulled right from A New Hope’s climactic assault on the Death StarSurprisingly, Disney did their homework and gave him the proper pistol when they could have easily went with the design used for Han. Includes a removable helmet that fits snuggly, though maybe a tad oversized.

CONS: Luke with no lightsaber? Blasphemy I say, but I suppose it is technically accurate since he didn’t wield it while wearing his X-wing flight gear, but why include the blaster since he didn’t use that particular model either? The hair looks too dark for my liking — coupled with the glossy plastic makes it look as if he is sporting a chocolate hair helmet.

Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery (and SFX demo) and judge for yourself whether this piece is worth adding to your collection.

Toyguide Update: Sun Fac (Droid Factory)

LC_Sunfac_preview

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with a series of entries covering the Amazon Exclusive Droid Factory Set of Legacy Collection figures. We continue with the addition of Sun Fac.

PROS: Geonosians were ubiquitous in Attack of the Clones and Hasbro has done their best to have a strong representation of the species in the line since that film’s release. Even though we’ve received a Sun Fac figure before, Hasbro recycled an upgraded super-articulated sculpt for this version.

CONS: Personally, I find this to be an inferior re-deco when compared to his less articulated Saga Collection incarnation. The included blaster is less detailed in terms of paint as the chartreuse blaster effect is not present. I think that the desirability for this figure is more geared around the included TC-14 part then that of figure itself.

Head to the toyguide for the full image gallery and judge for yourself whether this figure is worth adding to your collection.
